That it is. We need to stay alert for our troops, and help out however we can. If that report of another plane going down in Kuwaiti air space is true, then we need to look into that immediately because only the US and Israel are flying, and there should be no friendly fire unless we have insurgents in the Kuwaiti theater.

ThankQ for posting this. I thought about this recently and even though the LUCAS costs $35,000, which is much cheaper than the $2 million dollar cruise missile, there is still a much cheaper alternative; due to American air superiority. And that would be to fly a high altitude plane like a C130 and fill it with tons of really cheap drones that do not have to put energy into climbing or NAP of the earth; just maintain altitude, descend and destroy. You could probably produce a drone for about $500 a piece and use the C130 to drop either small batches or a ton of drones that are either preprogrammed and/or operator based. Think about it, then think again.

Think about securing the small mountain ranges around the Straits of Hormuz with batches of the descend drones from a C130 flying at 50k feet above, 10-30 miles away. You could saturate the mountain range with a little more precision then carpet bombing, which is a destruction blanket and much more expensive. Then after an all clear, sending in the Marines from the USS Boxer with Amphibious, Helicopter, and Ospreys to secure the high ground.

Could descend drones also be modified to deal with swarms of incoming drones, not only as a more capable alternative but also a cheaper one too? Some one way drone swarms like the ones coming from Iran towards neighboring countries, can take as much as 7 hours before they reach their targets. The electronics needed to acquire and network these counter drones, could be very light, and the drones themselves wouldn't have to carry to much of a payload to destroy another drone. In addition, the costs could be relatively low due to reduced requirements of payload and energy capacity.

Correct. We always dominate in air superiority except when it comes to drones. Why not let that work for us, instead of having jets take out drones, descend drones by the tens of thousands.
