Oil prices climbed for a third straight session on Tuesday as the widening US-Israeli conflict with Iran and growing threats to shipments through the Strait of Hormuz stoked fresh fears of supply disruptions from the key Middle East producing region.
Brent crude futures were around $79.71 a barrel, up about 2.1 percent, having earlier spiked to as high as about $82.37, their strongest since January 2025 before easing off those intraday gains. US West Texas Intermediate crude also rose, trading near $72.70 a barrel and extending Monday’s advance, which had taken it to its highest level since June 2025 before settling higher for the day.

Iran has condemned what it described as the International Atomic Energy Agency’s continued inaction over repeated US-Israeli strikes on its nuclear infrastructure. State Department Official Identified As Suspect In Deadly Alleged Road Rage Stabbing
The U.S. State Department confirmed to the Daily Caller that the deceased suspect in a mass stabbing outside Washington, D.C., on Sunday was employed by the department.
A State Department spokesperson told the Daily Caller that the 32-year-old suspect, Jared Llamado of McLean, Virginia, was working for the department at the time of the alleged stabbing and his death.
A Virginia State Police trooper responded Sunday afternoon to reports of road rage on Interstate 495 in Fairfax County, where he was allegedly confronted by Llamado, who was wielding a knife after having stabbed four victims.
The stabbing resulted in the death of 39-year-old Michelle Adams and a dog, according to Virginia State Police. Three others were taken to nearby hospitals with serious injuries.
The trooper shot Llamado “in self-defense,” according to the police statement. Llamado was transported to a hospital and died as a result of his injuries.

Telegram Has Reportedly Become A Pressing National Security Threat For Russia
Authorities in Russia believe that Ukraine has quick access to Russian servicemen’s messages and exploits this for military purposes, which wouldn’t be possible without some degree of complicity on Telegram’s part, thus impugning its founder’s character after he denied working with foreign spooks.
The FSB claimed to have “reliable information that the Ukrainian armed forces and intelligence agencies are able to quickly obtain information posted on the Telegram messenger and use it for military purposes.” This coincides with the government allegedly throttling Telegram on the grounds that it’s not in compliance with local laws, which preceded reports that it’ll be banned on 1 April. The authorities denied that they have nay such plan but there’s no doubt that Telegram is now controversial in Russia.
Speculation about Ukraine’s access to the messages sent by Russian servicemen on that platform, which the FSB also touched upon in their two-sentence press release, is credible in light of founder Pavel Durov’s brief detention by the French authorities in 2024. Although he vehemently denied that he cut a deal with them for granting their authorities access to certain users’ messages and has since accused them of askingz him to ban conservative Romanian accounts, he might be lying and it could all be an act.

Israel hacked into Tehran's traffic cameras in order to surveil the daily life of senior Iranian figures in preparation for Operation Roaring Lion, during which the regime's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed, according to a report by the Financial Times published on Monday.
According to the report, the Israeli intelligence discovered a "life pattern" for Khamenei and his security personnel, including travel routes, hours of activity, and the identities of the senior figures who were usually with the late Iranian leader.
The report also mentions that Israel used Artificial Intelligence tools, alongside algorithms, to sort through vast amounts of information that was gathered about the Iranian leadership and its movements.
Additionally, the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) provided an additional human source to certify the exact location where Khamenei was set to be on the day of his assassination.

The FT report details that Israel attacked the compound where Khamenei was being guarded using Sparrow missiles, while the planes were deployed during the day in order to achieve tactical surprise, even with the high level of alert in Iran.
In total, 30 missiles were fired against the compound, while cellular towers in the area had been disrupted, so that the security personnel’s phones could not receive warning calls.
The operation included signals intelligence, cellular network penetration, and the American source confirming that the meeting was taking place.
