Because there are some very not nice people in this world who are eager to use anything and everything they can reach as a weapon. Unfortunately the Internet never was the utopia many of us saw it as when we were children. If anyone appreciates that ideal, and wants to see the world reach a place where such a thing is actually possible, they must fight for it.

Information technology has revealed to some of us that there are more than a few people in the world who don't even attempt to understand what they do, and it's been going on for a long time. It's such a serious problem that many people have dedicated literally their entire lives to understanding and addressing it, and believe me they are NOT happy with those who refuse to even try.
