Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Gulf states on alert as US-Israeli war on Iran deepens: Live Updates(PHOTOS, VIDEOS)
Tehran has launched retaliatory strikes as the US expands attacks and Russia calls for de-escalation
Welcome to RT’s live coverage of the sixth day of the US-Israeli war with Iran.Washington and its ally are expanding strikes throughout the Islamic Republic, while the IDF is bombing Lebanon in response to Hezbollah attacks.
Oil prices held near multi-month highs on Thursday as attacks on tankers and the escalating conflict in the Middle East disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical energy chokepoints.
The strike on an Iranian school that killed at least 160 pre-teen students and teachers on the first day of the US-Israeli attacks resembles a form of “human sacrifice” by an “Epstein cult,"an Iranian diplomat has claimed.
Israel said it launched a new wave of strikes on Tehran and intensified attacks on what it claims are Hezbollah positions in Beirut. At least six US military members were killed in overnight Iranian strikes.
Iranian drones and missiles have targeted US military bases, airfields, and radar sites across the Gulf, including facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain, as the conflict spreads across the region.
Missiles and drones allegedly launched from Iran crashed near Nakhchivan airport in Azerbaijan. Iran denies involvement, while Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has demanded an apology from Tehran, calling the incident an “ugly terrorist act.”
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has warned of “terrorist movements” along the Iraqi border and called for stronger security measures amid the escalating conflict. Al Jazeera has claimed that the Iranian forces have launched an operation targeting Kurdish groups in their semi-autonomous region in neighboring Iraq.
The US-Israeli attack on Iran could spur nuclear proliferation, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has warned. The Kremlin has previously said Russian President Vladimir Putin “is making every effort” to help de‑escalate the crisis.
More than 1,200 people have been killed in Iran since the campaign began, including civilians, according to monitoring groups. At least 12 people have been killed in Israel by retaliatory Iranian strikes. Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon have also killed at least 72 people.

Former top Russian Defense Ministry official detained in graft case
Ex-Deputy Minister Ruslan Tsalikov is facing multiple corruption and bribery charges
A former first deputy minister at the Russian Defense Ministry, Ruslan Tsalikov, has been detained in a major graft case, the Russian Investigative Committee has announced.
Tsalikov is suspected of “creating a criminal organization whose members embezzled budget funds between 2017 and 2024, as well as of money laundering and bribery,” Investigative Committee spokeswoman Svetlana Petrenko said in a statement.
The former top official faces charges on 12 counts of embezzlement and money laundering, as well as two counts of bribery, the committee said on Thursday.
Tsalikov is set to remain in custody for a week before the court determines whether the ex-official will be put into pre-trial detention or face other restrictive measures, it added.
He has been repeatedly questioned in another high-profile case, which has rocked the Russian Defense Ministry since April 2024. The central figure in the affair, former Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov, was sentenced to 13 years behind bars and a massive fine last year after a court found him guilty of embezzling state funds. Following the shakeup at the ministry prompted by Ivanov’s arrest, several other top officials and generals ended up in custody over alleged embezzlement, fraud, and related charges.
Tsalikov was never implicated in Ivanov’s case and was only considered a witness in it. If found guilty, the ex-official is likely to face a prison term of up to 20 years, legal experts have told Russian media.
Last month, Russian Investigative Committee head AleksandrBastrykin branded graft a “strategic threat” to the country’s security and economy, advocating stricter punishments for such crimes. “I suppose the time has come to introduce as a criminal punishment for corrupt officials the total confiscation of all property accrued,” Bastrykin told a meeting of the Investigative Committee Collegium.

US preparing for months-long war with Iran – Politico
Central Command has reportedly requested more intelligence officers to sustain the effort, with air defenses to be sent to the region
The US expects to wage war on Iran for at least another 100 days, or even through September, Politico has claimed.
In an article on Wednesday, the media outlet, citing a “notification” it had reportedly obtained, said the US Central Command (CENTCOM) has requested that the Pentagon send additional “military intelligence officers to its headquarters in Tampa, Florida,to support operations against Iran for at least 100 days but likely through September.”
The publication also quoted an anonymous US official as saying that the Department of War is scrambling to ship more air defense systems to its military installations across the Middle East. The focus is reportedly on relatively inexpensive anti-drone weapons, which are viewed as an alternative to the costly air defense missiles currently used to intercept incoming Iranian UAVs.
According to Politico, this could be a sign that the Pentagon “is already allocating funding for operations that may stretch long beyond” the four-week timeline previously outlined by US President Donald Trump.
Meanwhile, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte said in an interview with Newsmax on Wednesday that while the military bloc “is not involved” in the US-Israeli campaign against Iran, “allies are basically, on a massive scale, supportive of what the [US]president is doing and are also enabling what the US is doing now in the region.”
The UK as well as Spain initially denied the use of its military bases to US forces engaged in the operation against Iran. London, however, made a U-turn following a rebuke from Trump.
Madrid, in turn, recently announced that it would deploy a navy frigate to Cyprus to protect a British Royal Air Force base from Iranian strikes, in a joint effort also involving Italy, France, and the Netherlands.
Last Saturday, the US and Israeli militaries launched massive airstrikes on Iran, killing Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and a number of senior Iranian commanders, as well as hundreds of civilians, with the attacks continuing to date. Tehran has retaliated by firing barrages of drones and missiles at Israel, as well as US and UK military installations across the Middle East.
Russia has condemned the killing of Khamenei, withPresident Vladimir Putin describing it as a “cynical violation of all norms of human morality and international law.”(KEK bahahaha!)
(• How about the human morality of not killing other world leaders and their and our citizens, does that violate morality and international law?
• But what about killing Trump that Iran has said and tried to do for years? What about you Putin, does that violate norms?.
• How many times did Iran mark Trump as a target of death?
• What about citizens, are they included not to be targeted for death?
• No, so it’s ok to kill citizens but not leaders, but only Iranians leaders cannot be killed that supposedly are religious people, but other world leaders can be killed?
That’s racist!
Respectfully, Admit it President Putin, you just made that up.
