“Get Into Shelters Now”: Emergency Alerts Sent, Missiles Hit Dubai, Azerbaijan, UAE & Saudi Arabia

The United States and Israel continue their history-shaping shock and awe style military campaign against Iran, with Israeli forces also now intensifying strikes in Lebanon. Since Saturday, at least 1,230 people have been killed in what’s clearly morphed into a regime change operation on Tehran, according to official numbers, which are expected to climb by the day. The war is expanding to nearby countries like Azerbaijan, and possibly even Turkey – in addition to the Gulf states.

Black smoke is billowing over the Saudi capital where US diplomats have been warned to take cover following an Iranian missile attack.

The American embassy in Riyadh has today issued a security threat with staff urged to shelter. It comes as Saudi Arabia’s defence ministry said three Iranian cruise missiles were intercepted and destroyed outside the city of Al-Kharj near Riyadh.

Meanwhile the UAE has confirmed it was struck with a ballistic missile and six drones after a barrage of 131 suicide drones were fired towards Dubai earlier today. Sirens later blared across Dubai as the UAE announced it was responding to further Iranian drone threats.

And Sir Keir Starmer has revealed the UK will send four additional Typhoon jets to Qatar where residents living near the US embassy in Doha were evacuated as it intercepted multiple missile attacks.

And Azerbaijan has become the latest country to be dragged into war after two drones struck an airport and a school. Iran has denied it fired the weapons.

Iranian leaders are calling for President Trump’s “blood” after the U.S. and Israel launched an attack on Tehran over the weekend, vowing to take action over the “atrocity.”

Ayatollah Abdollah Javadi Amoli said Iran was looking to shed “Trump’s blood” on state television, according to The Associated Press.

American forces have led assaults on land and water, with assaults resulting in more than 1,000 Iranian casualties, per the AP.

“The U.S. has perpetrated an atrocity at sea, 2,000 miles away from Iran’s shores. Frigate Dena, a guest of India’s Navy carrying almost 130 sailors, was struck in international waters without warning,” Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi wrote in a post on social platform X.

Former top Russian Defense Ministry official detained in graft case

Ex-Deputy Minister Ruslan Tsalikov is facing multiple corruption and bribery charges

Tsalikov is suspected of “creating a criminal organization whose members embezzled budget funds between 2017 and 2024, as well as of money laundering and bribery,” Investigative Committee spokeswoman Svetlana Petrenko said in a statement.

The former top official faces charges on 12 counts of embezzlement and money laundering, as well as two counts of bribery, the committee said on Thursday.

Tsalikov is set to remain in custody for a week before the court determines whether the ex-official will be put into pre-trial detention or face other restrictive measures, it added.

He has been repeatedly questioned in another high-profile case, which has rocked the Russian Defense Ministry since April 2024. The central figure in the affair, former Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov, was sentenced to 13 years behind bars and a massive fine last year after a court found him guilty of embezzling state funds. Following the shakeup at the ministry prompted by Ivanov’s arrest, several other top officials and generals ended up in custody over alleged embezzlement, fraud, and related charges.

Tsalikov was never implicated in Ivanov’s case and was only considered a witness in it. If found guilty, the ex-official is likely to face a prison term of up to 20 years, legal experts have told Russian media.

Last month, Russian Investigative Committee head Aleksandr Bastrykin branded graft a “strategic threat” to the country’s security and economy, advocating stricter punishments for such crimes. “I suppose the time has come to introduce as a criminal punishment for corrupt officials the total confiscation of all property accrued,” Bastrykin told a meeting of the Investigative Committee Collegium.

‘The threat is a lie’: Meet Israel’s lone anti-war voice in parliament

Ofer Cassif tells RT the war is driven by personal and political agendas, not real threats

As Israel and the United States press ahead with their sweeping military campaign against Iran, political consensus in Jerusalem appears nearly absolute.

In Israel, the war has drawn support across much of the political spectrum. Opposition leader Yair Lapid, long a fierce critic of Netanyahu, has embarked on a series of international interviews defending the campaign. Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, another political rival, described the offensive as an effort to weaken “the machinery of oppression” in Iran so that its people might later decide their own future.

But inside the 120-seat Knesset, one lawmaker is challenging the official narrative, arguing the war is driven less by security than by political calculation.

Ofer Cassif, the only Jewish member of the predominantly Arab Hadash party, has emerged as one of the very few lawmakers openly opposing the war. In an interview with RT, he offered a sharply critical assessment of its motives, timing and likely trajectory.

Lies, power, and elections behind the war

RT: Israel and the US say that the war was needed to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons and to stop the threat of their ballistic missiles. How grounded are these claims?

Cassif: It’s important to remember that last June, after the first aggression against Iran, Netanyahu declared the following: “We achieved a historic victory. We removed the nuclear missile threat. We eliminated Iran’s nuclear project and its missile industry.”

So he lied then, and he’s lying now about both the nuclear weapons and the threat of the missiles. The real reason behind the aggression is the political and economic interests of the government of Israel and the administration of the United States, Trump’s administration. That’s the real reason. It has nothing to do with a real threat.

Obviously, that doesn’t mean that I have any kind of sympathy for the regime of Iran. I am against it. But at the same time, I’m against this aggression because it has nothing to do with the well-being of the Iranian people, whom I support in their struggle. And it has nothing to do with the threat, as I just mentioned. It has everything to do with economic and political interests, including the personal interests of Netanyahu, who wants to declare early elections and present himself as the savior of Israel vis-à-vis the Iranians and the whole region.

RT: Another claim that Israeli politicians are now repeating is that Israel is leading a war against radical Islam for the sake of the free world. What is your position on this?

Cassif: Netanyahu doesn’t care about Islam or radical Islam. He doesn’t care about the Iranian regime, the well-being of the Iranian people, or even the Israeli people. He cares only about himself. He’s terrified of prison. He knows that once he loses political power, he may rapidly find himself behind bars because of the trial pending against him.

That’s the real reason for his rhetoric. He’s not saving the world from radical Islam. And in any case, I don’t believe radical Islam is the main problem the world faces today. Of course, fanatic Islam is a problem, like any fanaticism. But I don’t think it’s worse than fanatic evangelicals in the United States or so-called religious Zionist fanaticism in Israel.

The main danger the world faces is capitalism, which is responsible for these aggressions as well as the climate crisis, which is probably the greatest long-term threat we all face. Unfortunately, leaders like Netanyahu, Trump, and others make that problem more severe.

That is what we need to confront and deal with, not radical Islam.

RT: What about the timing of the attack? Why now?

Cassif: The timing of the aggression serves the interests of both Netanyahu and Trump, first and foremost personally. As I mentioned, there are midterm elections in the United States, and elections here are supposed to be in October but apparently may be moved to June. Unfortunately, both of these leaders and their surrounding administrations believe that such aggression will serve them electorally.

From marginalized to heard?

RT: You have been one of the very few voices who has spoken against the war. How are you perceived in Israel and how isolated do you feel?

Cassif: It’s been quite systematic since the state was established: every time there is a war, or any kind of conflict or crisis, unfortunately there is a conformism among the vast majority of the people in Israel, especially politicians. So we got used to being relatively isolated and marginalized because we are actually the only political force that has always been against any kind of aggression and war.

Cost of Living Crisis Continues As Job Market Wanes

The cost of living crisis is continuing with no end in sight. People used to use their tax refunds for trips or fun experiences, but now they have to either save the money, pay off debt, or use it to keep the lights on or buy groceries.

The sad state of most Americans’ financial status is getting progressively worse, too, as it’s often psychologically damaging as well as economically. Two-thirds of young Americans no longer believe they will ever be able to afford to live where they want. That means living in a place they desire, not having their dream home.

Accoridng to a report by The Hill, consumer spending continues, but the foundation is cracking. Credit card debt has surged to record highs, topping $1.2 trillion. A third of adults have raided their savings in just the past few months. More than a quarter now lean harder on credit cards simply to cover routine purchases. Buy-now-pay-later plans, once marketed for gadgets and fashion, are increasingly used for groceries.

Everything is now more expensive, including housing costs, which jumped sharply in just two years. Coffee prices rose nearly 20 percent year over year, while the cost of beef climbed 15 percent. Medical care rose again, and so did the overall costs of medical insurance and healthcare. These aren’t abstract charts or distant averages, but brutal prices staring back at Americans at checkout counters, pharmacy windows, and rental offices. For those who think people are buying more, they aren’t. They’re paying more for what they’ve always needed.

A high-cost expense, such as a car repair, often flings one into debt for years at this point. Americans are relying on debt not to buy things they don’t need, but to survive. Analysts have said that consumers are “muscling through,” relying on willpower rather than margin. When 70 percent say their area is no longer affordable and nearly half report their finances worsening year over year, that isn’t mass misperception but a clear-eyed assessment of daily reality.

The flailing job market is about to make things worse, too. Just as families scramble to cover today’s bills, the job market that once offered escape is beginning to buckle. People are being replaced by technology as artificial intelligence takes over and never sleeps.

This crisis is compounding, and another war isn’t going to alleviate the pressure.

Israel behind Azerbaijan drone provocations to frame Iran – envoy

The Nakhchivan incident could be part of a wider effort to place blame on Tehran, its ambassador to Russia has told RT

Iran did not carry out the drone attacks on Azerbaijan and may itself be the target of a broader provocation campaign by the “Zionist regime,” Tehran’s ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, has said.

Azerbaijani officials claimed on Thursday that drones flying from the direction of Iran struck the terminal building at Nakhchivan International Airport. Another UAV reportedly crashed near a school in a nearby village, leaving two civilians injured. Tehran has denied any involvement.

Speaking to RT, Jalali cited the General Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces statement that in some cases “other sides are directing the drones.”

“We did not strike Nakhchivan, and there was no reason for an attack,” he said. “It is possible that the Zionist regime and others have taken these actions to involve us with our neighboring countries.”

Baku has called the strike a “terrorist act,” blaming Tehran and demanding apologies. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that those responsible must be held accountable and vowed that his country would “retaliate.”

Iranian officials have repeatedly said the strikes are directed only at countries hosting military bases belonging to Tehran’s adversaries and that they do not seek confrontation with neighboring states.

Jalali also rejected Pentagon claims that Iran has been left “very weak” and has “no missiles left” following the US-Israeli bombardment launched last Saturday. The attack was followed by Tehran’s retaliatory strikes on Gulf states hosting American bases, including Kuwait, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia. The envoy said such statements are part of the enemy’s “psychological warfare” designed “to impose their own narratives.”

More than 1,200 people have been killed in Iran since the campaign began, including civilians, according to monitoring groups. Among those were over 160 schoolchildren that were killed in a strike on an elementary school in Minab, which Tehran blamed on Israel. The initial strikes on Saturday killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and several senior officials. At least 12 people have been killed in Israel by retaliatory Iranian strikes. Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon have also killed at least 72 people.

Judicial Watch Sues Treasury Dept on Covering of Former Treasury Sec Larry Summers’ Official Portrait after His Name Surfaced in Epstein Files

Judicial Watch announced today that it filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Treasury for records regarding the covering of former Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers’ official portrait in the Main Treasury Building in Washington, D.C., reportedly after his name surfaced in records connected to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of Treasury (No.1:26-cv-00446)).

Judicial Watch filed the lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia after the Treasury Department failed to respond to a January 8, 2026, FOIA request for:

All records, including communications, about the covering up of former Treasury Secretary Lawrence H. Summers’ portrait in the U.S. Treasury Building in Washington, D.C. Mr. Summers served as Treasury Secretary from July 2, 1999, to January 20, 2001.

Judicial Watch submitted the FOIA request after a source inside Treasury informed a Judicial Watch lawyer about the portrait-covering incident.

In November 2025, soon after his name arose in connection with Epstein, Summers said, “I am deeply ashamed of my actions and recognize the pain they have caused.… I will be stepping back from public commitments as one part of my broader effort to rebuild trust and repair relationships with the people closest to me.”

An exchange of emails between Summers and Epstein contained in a trove of Epstein records released by the House Oversight Committee, Epstein called himself Summers’ “wing man.”

“Covering Larry Summers’ portrait won’t make the Epstein scandal disappear,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “Covering the portrait raises obvious questions. Transparency—not cover-ups—is the proper response.”

Judicial Watch has been actively pursuing details of the Epstein case.

In November 2025, Judicial Watch filed a lawsuit against the Justice Department for records subpoenaed by the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform regarding accused sex trafficker Epstein.

In October 2025, Judicial Watch filed a FOIA lawsuit against the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) for records involving any role Epstein might have played in connection with the agency, his business dealings, travel, victim or witness information, and records concerning his death.

In September 2025, Judicial Watch sued the Justice Department for communications the department had with the media outlet Axios regarding the outlet’s “exclusives” on the release of audio of then-President Joe Biden’s August 2023 interview with then-Special Counsel Robert Hur regarding Biden’s handling of secret documents and the July 2025 memo that stated there is no Epstein “client list.”

Twelve 18th Street Gangsters, Associates Arrested on Indictments Alleging Murder, Extortion, Drug Trafficking in L.A.’s MacArthur Park Area

welve members and associates of 18th Street – Los Angeles’s largest street gang – were arrested today on criminal charges, including the murder of a drug trafficker who failed to pay the gang’s extortionate “taxes,” and further alleging that the gang controlled the city’s MacArthur Park as an open-air drug marketplace, using tents to blend in with the homeless population and avoid detection by law enforcement.

Five of the defendants arrested today are expected to make their initial appearances and be arraigned this afternoon in United States District Court in downtown Los Angeles.

During this investigation, federal and local law enforcement have seized more than 175 pounds of methamphetamine and fentanyl. Today, law enforcement seized approximately $80,000 in cash, 10 pounds of fentanyl, five pounds of methamphetamine, and six firearms.

A total of seven federal grand jury indictments have been returned against members and associates of 18th Street. The main federal indictment, which contains seven counts, charges the following seven Los Angeles-based members and associates of 18th Street, with one count of racketeering conspiracy:

Keiko Marie Gonzalez, 59, a.k.a. “Moms,” “La Señora,” and “La Reina,”

Edward Escalante, 49, a.k.a. “Toro,”

Edward Alvarenga, 27, a.k.a. “Tito,”

George Carillo, 60, a.k.a. “Chuco,”

Carlos Beltran, 48, a.k.a. “Negro,”

Felipe De Los Angeles, 51, a.k.a. “Indio,” and

Edwin Martinez, 32, a.k.a. “Dreamer.”

Law enforcement is looking for six fugitives in this matter. One fugitive is believed to be in Mexico and another is believed to be in Guatemala.

“For far too long, 18th Street and other criminals have been allowed to turn one of the city’s most beautiful public spaces into a crime-infested pit. That ends today,” said First Assistant United States Attorney Bill Essayli. “We are committed to eliminating violent organized crime and open-air drug markets from Los Angeles.”

“The distribution of illegal narcotics in our communities is unacceptable, as is the associated violent crime that many times affects innocent residents,” said Robert Molvar, the Acting Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI's Los Angeles Field Office. “This investigation should send a message to 18th Street Gang members and their Mexican Mafia overlords that we’re going to continue to work with our law enforcement partners to target those responsible for the distribution of illegal narcotics which enrich the gang while they prey on and poison members of our community.”

According to the indictment, 18th Street is historically a Mexican-American street gang that has grown into a transnational gang with more than 100,000 members within the United States, and operates across Mexico, Central and South America, and elsewhere. 18th Street controls numerous neighborhoods in and around Los Angeles, including MacArthur Park and its surrounding blocks.
