On March 15, 2026, comet 3I/ATLAS will be near its closest-approach month to Jupiter, traveling through the outer solar system beyond the main asteroid belt, on its way back out into interstellar space.

More precisely, its closest pass to Jupiter is calculated for March 16, 2026, at about 0.36 AU (roughly 54 million km) from the planet, so on the 15th it will be in essentially the same region of space, just slightly โ€œupstreamโ€ along that trajectory near Jupiterโ€™s orbit.
