Dear Epik Support Team,
This email regards two domains – 5ch.net and bbspink.com – which your company has reportedly LOCKED, making it impossible for the owner of these domains, Mr. James Watkins, to transfer them to a new registrar. The rationale for this action is that there was animal crush content posted on both domains which your company regards as not only objectionable but illegal.
THREE POINTS
First: both these domains are TEXT ONLY, which makes it very difficult if not impossible to post actual “animal crush” content from a legal perspective.
Second, while it’s legitimate for a domain registry to decide to cease registering any domain that they believe could damage their reputation, it’s not legit to LOCK that domain. This is like convicting an accused person without a trial.
Third, your interest in the safety of domain users is not appropriate for a domain registrar; it is rather the concern of the FBI. If the person who made a complaint is truly concerned, I suggest they contact the FBI.
The best course of action from both a LEGAL and ETHICAL point of view, I believe, is to IMMEDIATELY RELEASE these two domains to their rightful owner, Mr. Watkins.
