They're going to drop the Russia thing and still lose the vote. Then they are going to try to hide. Then they (bad actors, not just Democrats) will be caught, tried and arrested.

The Constitution is a ritual in and of itself. The President and team know what they are doing and they are doing it 'by the book'. They understand the power of taking an oath to God.

Government is a ritual extension of belief in God, but there is magick involved. Trump knows this. Everything is by the book. Even his constant opining on Twitter. As long as he doesn't arrest or suppress anyone from expressing themselves (media), he is following the rule of law. Blocking someone on twitter, or kicking a journalist out of a press briefing, or calling fake news enemy of the people is constitutional.
