Interesting but kind of standard speech from Pence here. Dec 2024
The Q&A afterward is more interesting, especially his answer to the last question about J6. Some douche shrink praises him for his actions. Well, not sure the motive, so maybe shouldn't assume so much, but I think Pence actually leaks some truth with a last anecdote…a soft disclosure of sorts.
In short, he tells about thanking Gore in 2023 for certifying the election in on J6, 2001 for being an example of defending the constitution above partisanship in spite of the shady Bush steal in FL.
Who knows what was actually going on with the broader election system back then, but what I think he's subtly allowing for people to deduce was that for all the things that J6 was, it was also a way to make even on the 2001 steal from Gore. Perhaps that's a fairness thing, but it destroys that ammunition from use in the future more importantly. Kind of fascinating, particularly because it was backstopped by control over the Biden admin, unlike the Bush admin.
Just a curiosity. If true, Pence is a patriot, despite being wrong about other shit. What he did gave Trump a better hand long-term…and I think he knew it, which is why he delivers that anecdote so subtly in Dec 2024 when Trump was president-elect again.
