In a post on the U.S. Army Fort Campbell Facebook Page, a spokesperson wrote that four Skydio X10D Drone Systems were stolen from the 326th Division Engineer Battalion building.

The Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division is offering a reward for information that leads to the conviction of those behind the theft.

Independent reporter Susan Edelman wrote about the prayer rugs, circulating a picture of them.

For context, FDNY Islamic Society hosted an iftar last week – a breaking of the Ramadan fast with an evening meal.

Fire Commissioner Lillian Bonsignore and Democratic Mayor Zohran Mamdani attended, along with an estimated 125 employees and guests.

According to Edelman, this event has taken place for years, using the FDNY auditorium at the Metrotech Plaza as a venue.

However, Edelman said, this appears to have been the first time prayer rugs were put in the lobby next to the plaque.

Another plaque is out of the shot, listing the 409 firefighters who died of various illnesses as a result of their heroism that day.

New York Republican Councilwoman Joann Ariola reportedly had over 20 complaints come to her office from 9/11 first responders and relatives upon learning about the event.

One current firefighter said, “As someone who respects the sacrifices made by all FDNY members, I believe the Muslim group involved, along with city leadership (including the Mayor), showed a real lack of sensitivity.”

The firefighter added that “the auditorium, already in use as a dining hall, could easily have served a dual purpose for any ritual or gathering — keeping the memorial lobby untouched and focused on its solemn role.”

“We owe it to the fallen and their families to treat that space with the utmost respect and inclusivity that truly honors everyone who served.”

Camp Canada, as it's called, has been an active Canadian military installation for over ten years, and new satellite images show what appears to be damage inflicted to Canadian bunkers from Iranian missiles.

During the attack, Canadian personnel were able to shelter in the fortified bunkers on the base and walked away with any casualties.

Personnel at the base have reportedly been moved for their safety, although it's assumed that Canadian installations were not targeted deliberately by the Iranians.

The base has been used in Canada's ongoing Operation IMPACT, the Canadian forces' operations against the Islamic State, or ISIL.

It's unclear why it took so long for this news to be released, not just to the public, but, according to La Presse, to parliamentarians who were engaging in debate and discussion about possible Canadian involvement in the ongoing Iranian conflict.

When asked further about the situation on Thursday, Anita Anand said that the questions would be better suited to the defence minister, David McGuinty.

A man found guilty of stabbing his girlfriend to death in a British Columbia parking garage will be eligible for parole after 12 years because the judge considered his race a mitigating factor, court documents indicate.

Everton Javaun Downey, 35, was convicted of second-degree murder last August for stabbing 25-year-old Melissa Blimkie 15 times in a stairwell at the Metrotown Shopping Centre in Burnaby, B.C., on Dec. 19, 2021.

Downey, a black man, was sentenced to life in prison last month by B.C. Supreme Court Associate Chief Justice Heather Holmes. A recently posted decision by Holmes says she rejected the Crown’s suggestion of no possibility of parole for a minimum of 15 years, opting instead for 12 years after considering Downey’s Impact of Race and Culture Assessment (IRCA).

IRCAs are pre-sentencing reports received by judges when the offender is black or “racialized,” according to Canada’s department of justice.

The reports are similar to Gladue reports, which take into account the background and circumstances of an indigenous accused. IRCAs inform sentencing judges of the “disadvantages and systemic racism” faced by black offenders and may recommend alternatives to incarceration or accountability measures within a sentence of incarceration. The Liberal government has introduced a new “lawful access” bill that would give police expanded powers to access certain data from electronic service providers during criminal investigations.

The government introduced Bill C-22, also known as the Lawful Access Act, in the House of Commons on March 12. The new bill contains elements of Bill C-2, introduced last June, but aims to address some of the privacy concerns raised by opposition parties and civil liberties groups.

Bill C-22 creates a legal framework for a lawful access regime in Canada, and has been informed by the views of stakeholders and parliamentarians who had voiced “serious concerns” with Bill C-2, Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree said at a March 12 press conference announcing the new legislation.

“We listened to what they had to say, and this new legislation, Bill C-22, balances the needs of law enforcement with the privacy and civil rights that Canadians demand,” Anandasangaree said.

“It is not about surveillance of Canadians going on about their daily lives. It is about keeping Canadians safe in the online space.”

The bill would require electronic service providers to establish and maintain lawful access capabilities, ensuring law enforcement can obtain “timely, lawfully authorized communications or information” when they need it, Anandasangaree said. Continue…
