Galaxy Program Offers Intensive Leadership Development for Guardian Officers, Civilians

March 10, 2026

Guardians and government civilians looking to boost their USSF careers even higher have a unique opportunity via Space Systems Command’s Galaxy program, a junior force rapid professional-development program that provides a fast, flexible, rapid capability delivery experience for early career Space Force acquirers.

Members are tasked with advancing acquisitions solutions for operational gaps in under six months. Two cohorts move through the program every year; the next cohort, XIV, will run from early April 2026 to early October 2026.

During the six-month program, Galaxy fellows visit critical USSF stakeholders and partners including intel, operations, Joint units, the Pentagon, Capitol Hill, Silicon Valley, and many industry partners.

This global tour exposes Galaxy members to the breadth and depth of the USSF and defense ecosystem, giving them critical insights and perspectives early in their careers. By interacting with industry partners, Galaxy members learn how the USSF can better collaborate for mission success.

Participants also are assigned books on topics including leadership, decision-making, modern warfare and geopolitical issues to broaden their knowledge base. They spend four months of the program tackling specific Lines of Effort (LOEs) at various program offices.

“SSC commander, Lt. Gen. Garrant, chooses his six most challenging acquisition problems for Galaxy cohorts to work on; this is where a company grade officer (CGO) or junior civilian can make a real impact over four months,” said Capt. Drake Williams, Galaxy cadre member, and former member of Galaxy Cohort IX.

“The outcomes we’re looking for are enhanced decision-making skills, learning how you can rapidly deliver capability with the acquisition system, accelerating the learning curve with hands-on expertise, and strengthening our partnerships with Capitol Hill, the Pentagon, and industry,” Williams said.

Recent Galaxy members have integrated artificial intelligence into operations, expanded Joint space operations, and embedded into cutting-edge Joint software teams, among other high-impact assignments.

“The program really intends to push you outside your comfort zone,” Williams said. “If you're in launch, you won't be assigned a launch LOE - we're going to put you in something like Space Sensing or Special Programs.

We try to give you an experience that you wouldn't otherwise have and match you to a project that you will excel in, find value in, but also be incredibly challenged in.”

Williams said before he was in the Galaxy program, he worked in a large program office. He enjoyed the work but felt like a “cog in the machine” at times. He applied and was accepted to Galaxy IX and was tasked with awarding a follow-on contract to the Immersive Digital Facility.

“My LOE had me working on AI and Cloud, nothing like what I had previously worked,” Williams said. “Awarding the follow-on contract was an incredible, complex, and challenging process.

There were a lot of stakeholders, a lot of expectations, and $20 million on the line.

“The more I worked it, the more I realized that if I did not put in the work, it simply would not get done,” Williams said.

“I was given extreme ownership and responsibility there and that took me out of the ‘cog in the machine’ mindset and put me into the action officer, stakeholder, and mover mindset.

It changed my career entirely. I’ve been working in that program for the past two years – and it’s been incredibly rewarding to feel like I am someone who can get things done and make real change in the U.S. Space Force.”

Capt. Jake Mendoza was in Cohort XII, and worked with the Tactical Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Tracking (TacSRT) program on developing a data analytic sandbox for his LOE.

“TacSRT leverages industry to build Operational Planning Products in support of Space Force Components and Combatant Commands,” Mendoza said.

“Developing the data analytic sandbox served as a way to create a testing environment to validate and verify new industry analytic providers before supporting TacSRT.”

“Building the data analytic sandbox was an effort to bring in more industry partners to expand capabilities and it taught me how we can leverage small non-traditional industry companies,” Mendoza said.

Capt. Michael Forlife, who was in the Galaxy IX cohort, joined the U.S. Space Force as a U.S. Army IST (Interservice Transfer) and had served in the USSF for just a year at the time. He found the travel aspect extremely helpful.

Forlife explained, “Both as a junior CGO and an IST, to see what there was in the Space Force – what bases could I be assigned to? What units are there, both operationally and as an acquisitions professional?

What are people doing and who can I support next in my service? It was incredibly helpful to get quickly spun up on the service and space enterprise as a whole, for professional development and improving job performance with an enterprise mindset.”

“I’ve gained multiple mentors from this program,” Forlife said. “All the bases, all the units we visited – senior leaders told us, ‘Hey, please reach out to us, long-term, six months, a year down the line, whenever you’d like, let us know where things are going and what you’re thinking of doing next.”

1st Lt. Kevin L. Chang, deputy program manager for Protected Tactical Waveform over Commercial, 1st Lt. Garrison Lagapa, deputy program manager for the Rapid On-Orbit Space Technology and Evaluation Ring with System Delta 89, and Capt. Gerald Hills Jr., System Engineering and Architecture lead for the Space Systems Integration Office (SSIO), are all part of the Galaxy XIII cohort, and recently completed seven weeks of travel around the world, visiting USSF installations and those of international allies and commercial industry partners in Hawaii, Korea, and Japan, as well as in the continental United States.

“Focusing on Hawaii, I think it set the stage for us for traveling the rest of INDOPACOM because they are the ones in charge of the whole Area of Responsibility (AOR) – they are the decisionmakers for what happens in Hawaii, Korea, Japan - everything from Hollywood to Bollywood,” Lagapa said. “It’s a big AOR, so getting that leadership perspective and how we feed capabilities into that AOR is interesting to see and learn.”

“While stationed at SSC in Los Angeles, I previously hadn’t had much exposure to end users or the combatant commands,” Lagapa said.

“Being able to sit down with them, talk to them, get their perspectives is very different from our normal jobs. I’ve never learned so much about a combatant command before getting out to the actual people who are in that area, running those missions.”

Chang said he applied to the Galaxy program because he wanted to learn more about the wider USSF.

“I’ve been working at Tactical SATCOM for all four years I’ve been at SSC and I’ve always heard about the missile defense portion of what we do.

I’ve heard about the intelligence collection that we do, about our international partnerships and I really wanted to delve a little deeper into that and see how it all ties back into the work that I do,” Chang said.

“It helps make you a better officer overall when you have that 30,000-foot view over the entire Space Force.”

Hills, whose background is primarily in engineering, said he pursued the program to strengthen his understanding of acquisitions and the broader mission.

“I wanted to expand my perspective on what’s possible and gain firsthand exposure to mission areas I had mostly encountered from a distance,” Hills said. “Having a senior mentor in a part of the enterprise I hadn’t yet experienced directly was an opportunity to grow in a deliberate way.”

Applicants to the program can be CGOs (Second Lieutenant, First Lieutenant, and Captain) or government civilians (GS 11-13 or NH 02-03) with less than 10 years of acquisition experience, and hold a Secret or TS/SCI security clearance.

They must have spent a minimum of one year on station and be willing to commit to the program fulltime.

The program looks for candidates who show initiative in their current job and who are identified as self-starters; have expertise in their current area but are seeking wider breadth; are risk-tolerant and capable of tackling hard problems.

“I just encourage anyone and everyone to apply,” Chang said. “It’s great for your career broadening and to help you understand what the Space Force does at a high level.”

Putin reveals scale of Russian advance in Donbass

10 Mar, 2026 15:57

The Russian military has liberated around 40% of the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) occupied by Kiev over the past six months, leaving Ukrainian forces in control of roughly 15–17% of the region, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said.

Kiev's troops were forced to retreat from large swathes of the territory in the face of a Russian offensive throughout much of 2025.

Russian forces took dozens of settlements in the DPR and the neighboring Zaporozhye Region, both of which joined Russia in 2022, and made advances in Ukraine’s Kharkov, Sumy, and Dnepropetrovsk Regions last year.

On Tuesday, speaking at a meeting with the head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, Putin said that Russian officials had estimated six months ago that Kiev controlled around 25% of the DPR’s territory. Recent reports now place the figure at between 15% and 17%, he noted.

In December alone, Russian troops liberated the former Ukrainian stronghold of Seversk in the northern part of the DPR, as well as Krasnoarmeysk (known as Pokrovsk in Ukraine) and the neighboring towns of Dmitrov (Mirnograd) and Rodninskoye.

Krasnoarmeysk was one of the largest cities under Ukrainian control in Donbass. It also served as a key logistical hub for Ukrainian forces in the western part of Donbass and had been heavily fortified.

The battle for Krasnoarmeysk and Dmitrov lasted from the summer until the winter of 2025. During the operation, the Russian Army managed to physically encircle several Ukrainian brigades for the first time since the battle for Mariupol in 2022.

Putin called the liberation of Krasnoarmeysk and Dmitrov “an important step toward the full liberation of the DPR.”

Moscow has repeatedly stated that a comprehensive and sustainable settlement of the Ukraine conflict would require Kiev to relinquish its claim to Donbass – something that Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky has repeatedly ruled out.

In December, Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov said that Moscow considers Donbass sovereign Russian territory and intends to establish full control over the region either through negotiations or military force.

Scientists complete first-ever ‘virtual brain upload’

10 Mar, 2026 11:50

A Silicon Valley startup has announced what it describes as the first “multi-behavior brain upload” after creating a complete digital replica of a fruit fly’s brain that controls a virtual body in a simulated environment.

The achievement, unveiled last week by Eon Systems, represents a significant leap beyond conventional AI.

Unlike AI systems that learn behaviors through training, the virtual fly’s actions, which include walking, grooming, and foraging entirely on its own, emerge from a neuron-by-neuron copy of a real biological brain.

“This is not an animation. It is not a reinforcement learning policy mimicking biology,” Eon co-founder Dr. Alex Wissner-Gross said in a social media post announcing the breakthrough.

“It is a copy of a biological brain, wired neuron-to-neuron from electron microscopy data, running in simulation, making a body move.”

The feat builds on landmark research from 2024, when an international collaboration mapped the entire connectome of an adult fruit fly – every one of its roughly 140,000 neurons and 50 million synaptic connections.

Eon senior scientist Philip Shiu co-authored a Nature paper showing that a computational model built from this wiring diagram could predict actual fly motor behavior with 95% accuracy.

However, the model was effectively a brain with no body to command. Eon has now closed the loop, integrating the digital brain with a physics-simulated fly body using Google DeepMind’s MuJoCo engine.

Sensory inputs from the virtual environment flow into the emulated brain, neural activity propagates through its complete connectome, and motor commands drive the simulated body’s movements.

The digital creature’s behaviors arise from its own circuit dynamics, instead of programmed instructions.

Eon CEO Michael Andregg said the uploaded fly achieves 91% behavioral accuracy using only the connectome’s wiring, simple neuron models, and “no hand-tuning, no additional learning algorithms.”

The Eon team is now gathering data to attempt a complete mouse brain emulation – roughly 70 million neurons, 560 times the fly’s scale. Beyond that, the team ultimately aims to attempt an entire human brain upload.

“The ghost is no longer in the machine. The machine is becoming the ghost,” Wissner-Gross said.

Iran claims four diplomats killed as Israel renews strikes on Hezbollah in Lebanese capital

Updated: MARCH 10, 2026 19:38

Four Iranian diplomats were killed in Lebanon on Sunday in an Israeli attack, Iranian state media claimed on Tuesday, citing Iran's UN Ambassador Amir Saeid Iravani.

The Iranian report follows the IDF confirmation earlier on Monday that it had renewed its strikes against Hezbollah terrorists and infrastructure in Beirut.

The military also stated it had identified a cell of Hezbollah terrorists, directing an aircraft to carry out a strike on Monday.

During Operation Roaring Lion, the IDF confirmed it had dismantled over 70 missile launchers.

Additionally, the IDF struck a Hezbollah rocket launcher in southern Lebanon early on Tuesday morning, and began conducting raids in southern Lebanon, and identified terrorists who entered a structure near the soldiers.

Following the identification, an IDF tank opened fire, killing the terrorists, the military stated.

IDF strikes Radwan Force structure, weapons storage facility in Lebanon

A structure belonging to commandos from Hezbollah's Radwan Force was also struck, as well as a weapons storage facility belonging to the terrorists, the military added.

Additionally, the IDF identified suspects operating near IDF soldiers, posing a threat, and the Israel Air Force conducted a strike to kill the suspected terrorists.

Further, the IDF found numerous weapons and propaganda materials belonging to Hezbollah terrorists.

Earlier on Tuesday, the IDF announced that it had carried out attacks on Hezbollah command centers during the overnight hours.

These centers were near Ansar, a village in southern Lebanon where rockets were fired towards Israel, the military stated.

Before the strike, the IDF Arabic-language spokesperson's office issued an evacuation warning to village residents.

IDF completes round of strikes against Al-Qard Al-Hasan terror financing organization in Lebanon

Amid this, the IDF continued to carry out strikes against assets of the Al-Qard Al-Hasan terror financing organization, noting that approximately 30 assets were attacked in the past week.

IAF fighter jets, guided by Israeli military intelligence, completed a round of strikes on Monday against the financing organization, which funds Hezbollah's terror activities, including the purchase of weapons, production equipment, and payment of terror salaries.

Israeli military says key Iranian security assets dismantled in Ilam

Israel’s military said on Tuesday it has destroyed most major facilities belonging to Iran’s Internal Security Forces and Basij units in Ilam province in western Iran as part of its ongoing air campaign against the Islamic Republic’s security infrastructure.

The military said in a statement most key assets of the Internal Security Forces and Basij units in Ilam province were destroyed, including the main headquarters of the Internal Security Forces, a command center belonging to the intelligence ministry, a special forces headquarters and several Basij bases.

The IDF also said a command center of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps responsible for units involved in suppressing protests was among the facilities struck.

The statement said the attacks over the past week targeted systems and facilities belonging to Iran’s internal security apparatus, which it described as part of the regime’s forces responsible for suppressing domestic protests and conducting security operations.

Iran says the four men killed in Israeli strike in Beirut were diplomats

Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations says the four Iranians killed in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut on Sunday were diplomats, after the Israeli military identified them as senior IRGC Quds Force agents.

The four men were killed in an Israeli attack on the Ramada Hotel in Beirut in the early hours of Sunday.

In a letter addressed to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and the president of the Security Council, Iran’s UN envoy Amir Saeid Iravani said the four men were diplomats, identifying them as Majid Hassani Kondsar, a second secretary; Alireza Bi-Azar, a third secretary; Hossein Ahmadlou, an attaché; and Ahmad Rasouli, assigned to the mission.

Israeli sources, however, had identified the dead as Majid Hosseini, the financial officer of the Lebanon branch of the Quds Force; Ali Biazaar, its intelligence officer; Hossein Ahmadlou, head of what they described as the branch’s “Zionist file”; and Ahmad Rasouli, head of the Intelligence Department in the Palestine Corps.

The Israeli military said the targets were commanders from the Revolutionary Guards’ Quds Force who it said were operating in Lebanon to plan attacks against Israel while also coordinating with the IRGC in Iran.

“The commanders of the Quds Force's Lebanon Corps operated to advance terror attacks against the state of Israel and its civilians, while operating simultaneously for the IRGC in Iran,” the military said in a statement.

Civilians killed by Haiti drone strikes on gangs

March 11, 2026

Haiti’s government is using its security forces and contractors to carry out “large-scale, deadly” drone strikes on criminal gangs that are also endangering civilians, Human Rights Watch warned on Tuesday.

Drone strikes killed at least 1,243 people during 141 operations between March 1, 2025, and January 21, 2026, including at least 43 adults who apparently were not members of criminal groups and 17 children, HRW said.

The drone strikes injured 738 people, at least 49 of whom did not belong to criminal groups, it added.

Gangs now control 90 percent of the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince, and killed nearly 6,000 people in 2025, according to the UN.

For years, Haiti — the poorest country in the Americas — has been in the throes of deadly gang violence, with frequent murders, rapes and kidnappings.

About 1.4 million people, or 10 percent of the population, have been displaced by the violence, and nearly half of all Haitians face acute food insecurity, including 1.2 million children under the age of five.

“Dozens of ordinary people, including many children, have been killed and injured in these lethal drone operations,” said Juanita Goebertus, Americas director at Human Rights Watch.

“Haitian authorities should urgently rein in the security forces and private contractors working for them before more children die.”

The UN’s Integrated Office in Haiti has attributed the drone attacks in Haiti to a task force created by Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aime with operational support from the private military company Vectus Global.

Washington’s ambassador to Haiti confirmed that the State Department had issued a license to Vectus Global to export defense services to Haiti, HRW said.

DR Congo army claims shot down 2 drones belonging to Rwandan army, 'their allies'

10.03.2026 - Update : 10.03.2026

The Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (FARDC) on Tuesday claimed to have shot down two drones belonging to the Rwanda Defense Force and “their allies” after they entered Congolese airspace in eastern Congo.

The drones were downed in Mikenge “after they illegally violated Congolese airspace in the Minembwe area,” FARDC said on US social media company X.

“This act of aggression constitutes a new provocation and a violation of the Washington Accord,” it said, adding that the Congolese forces “remain vigilant, disciplined, and ready to defend” Congo’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

M23 rebels advanced across several areas of the eastern province of South Kivu after an agreement Congo signed in Washington with Rwanda on Dec. 4.

The rebel group controls significant territory, including the provincial capitals of Goma and Bukavu, which it seized earlier in 2025.

The Congolese government, the UN, and others accuse neighboring Rwanda of supporting the M23 rebel group in eastern Congo, an allegation Kigali denies.

The US sanctioned Rwanda’s military and four of its senior officers on March 2, accusing them of backing the M23.

In response, Kigali said it regretted the sanctions as “one-sided" and defended its military.

JIATF 401 Publishes Guide to Counter-Drone Technology and Privacy Protections

March 9, 2026

The Joint Interagency Task Force 401 today announced the publication of "Counter-UAS Operations: Safeguarding Freedoms and Preserving Privacy," a comprehensive guide to the sensor technologies used to detect and identify drone threats and the legal framework that governs their use.

As the threat from unauthorized and nefarious small unmanned aerial systems continues to evolve, JIATF-401 is leading the effort to deploy effective countermeasures while upholding critical privacy protections.

This new guide provides insight into the passive, non-intrusive sensor technologies — such as Radar, Electro-Optical/Infrared, and Radio Frequency Detection — that allow security personnel to maintain airspace awareness without interfering with civilian drone operations.

"Countering drones is not just a battlefield problem — it's a homeland defense imperative," said Brig. Gen. Matt Ross, director of JIATF-401. "Our goal is to integrate sensors, effectors and mission command systems in a distributed network that protects service members and American citizens alike."

Brig. Gen. Ross noted, "This guide is part of our commitment to transparency, ensuring that as we deploy these critical technologies, we do so in a way that is responsible, respects privacy, and maintains public trust."

A key focus of the document is explaining how these systems operate in compliance with Federal Surveillance Law. By analyzing only the physical properties of a signal — its "signal fingerprint" — and not the content of a transmission, these C-UAS systems can effectively identify the type of drone and its location without infringing on individual privacy.

"Our approach is to safeguard privacy by design," said Col. Scott Humr, deputy director of science and technology for JIATF-401. "The technologies we are fielding are engineered to be effective while adhering to strict privacy principles. By focusing on data minimization and secure handling processes, we collect only what is necessary to identify a potential threat. This allows us to protect critical infrastructure and public safety without compromising the civil liberties that we are sworn to defend."

The publication of this guide is part of JIATF-401's broader mission to synchronize C-UAS efforts across the Department of War and with interagency partners, rapidly delivering capabilities to the warfighter and protecting the homeland.

US Introduces Rifle-Mounted Laser Weapon to Shut Down Drones

10 March 2026

A new chapter in counter-drone defense begins as Nuburu’s Lyocon subsidiary completes initial trials of a next-gen, portable non-kinetic laser system built to hunt drones in contested airspace.

Designed for rapid deployment, the lightweight weapon can be mounted on rifles, letting soldiers carry and aim it with minimal effort in the field.

It leverages a multi-wavelength directed-energy setup and operates across green, blue, and infrared laser bands to disrupt a wide range of drone types.

Its versatility is supported by scalable optical power, from 1 to 10 watts, paired with advanced beam control that allows operators to precisely direct energy at targets.

Adjustable beam divergence ensures effectiveness at short and long ranges, while dynamic beam regulation and precision collimation keep the laser focused and reliable in changing conditions.

“Counter-drone protection has become one of the most urgent priorities for defense forces,” Nuburu Chief Executive Officer Dario Barisoni said, adding that the new system is capable of safeguarding personnel, vehicles, and critical infrastructure from evolving drone threats.

The Road Ahead

The milestone marks Nuburu’s entry into the growing counter-drone market, as militaries and security operators worldwide accelerate deployment of cost-effective solutions for neutralizing drone threats.

The system also builds on the company’s broader directed-energy ecosystem, which integrates laser systems, electronic warfare tools, AI-driven software, and tactical platforms.

Talks are underway for a potential supply agreement with an undisclosed customer, pending technical approval, regulatory review, and contract negotiations.

“The successful completion of the system confirms the robustness of the architecture we have engineered and the scalability of Lyocon’s directed-energy platform,” said Paola Zanzola, executive director at Lyocon.

“Our objective has been to design a compact, modular system capable of delivering effective optical countermeasures against drone threats while maintaining operational flexibility.”

Old World Iran: First Photographs of Tehran (incredible images from 1855 & the history erased)

Mar 6, 2026

Howdy. Today I’ve assembled for you the collection of the first photographs of Iran, as taken by Luigi Pesce during the 1850s, with our focus being on Tehran, the capital city of Iran.

These images showcase something which is as profound as it is confusing; much of the ancient architecture of Iran (outside the major cities) appears to be more robust than what was found inside the cities during this time period.

One great example is Persepolis. I have an incredible collection of the first photographs of that location in a separate video that is linked below. However, the history revolving around Tehran, and how it became the capital city is also quite unique and revealing.

We can see very clear evidence of the history being purposefully erased by successive leaders, all of whom paved the way for a new narrative. The ancient architecture, at times, appears as old as the landscape itself.

However, how far back can we trace the history of Tehran? How much of the current narrative can be trusted? What do you see in the first images?

I believe the oldest photographs paint a picture that no mainstream scholar is willing to touch - an empire that had been greatly reduced, and was being “inherited” by new powers. History tends to be cyclical.

Mysterious 'crashed disc' spotted on Google Earth fuels UFO cover-up theories in New Mexico

10:28 ET, 10 Mar 2026

Images of a mysterious disc found on Google Earth have sparked new theories related to alien activity in New Mexico.

Images originating in the state's high desert appeared to show a luminous white or silver object, which some observers believe is a UFO, wedged in a hillside.

Newer pictures suggest the mysterious object is no longer visible, instead showing buildings or blurred areas, according to comparative studies of older and more recent imagery.

The apparent disappearance of the mysterious disc has prompted online discussion about whether government entities are purposefully obscuring genuine alien-related imagery.

One point of contention is the pattern of vegetation surrounding the object, which reportedly remains consistent across the earlier images. Users have used this as a pillar in their argument that the location has been altered.

Reports of altered images have spread far beyond New Mexico as satellite hawks on Reddit have reportedly identified similar instances involving pictures taken in California and Baja Norte.

The seafloor near Point Mugu in California and the region southeast of Isla Guadalupe off Baja Norte, UFO enthusiasts assert, were once available in high resolution but have since been replaced with blurred imagery featuring a 2026 watermark in Google Earth.

Moreover, these locations align with regions of strategic or military interest, and Google has largely kept silent on the reasoning behind its decision to obscure certain imagery.

This has led to speculation of intentional cover-ups, especially in areas containing sensitive infrastructure.

Experts have undercut those claims, noting that changes in Google Earth are typical and can stem from several factors, from newer satellite data to image resolution adjustments to security-related redactions.

However, newly blurred images can be applied to shield military or critical infrastructure sites from exposure, according to analysts. This does not suggest the government conducts these updates to hide evidence of extraterrestrial activity.

The frenzy among alien believers has not subsided. In one forum reviewed by the International Business Times, one commenter said that "there was a guy that hiked out there" and "it was like an antenna base."

Another one wrote those photos were of a "round concrete base with a collapsed satellite dish."

Other opponents of the speculation noted that discrepancies in the visual appearance can stem from the timing of the photo, current weather conditions and seasonal changes altering the vegetation.

More than 1,000 UFOs reported over Canada in 2025

Updated: March 10, 2026 at 8:26AM EDT

Canadians reported more than 1,000 UFO sightings in 2025, including blinding lights, hovering orbs, airborne cylinders and disc-shaped objects.

According to the 2025 edition of the annual Canadian UFO Survey, the 1,052 UFO reports come from every Canadian province and territory. But while many sightings may seem strange at first glance, roughly three per cent were considered unexplained after analysis.

“The vast majority of reported UFO are easily explainable as stars, planes and satellites, but a small number didn’t have easy explanations,” lead researcher Chris Rutkowski told CTVNews.ca from Winnipeg.

Drawing from sources like public reports, UFO research groups and a government aviation incident database, Rutkowski’s annual survey has catalogued more than 26,000 Canadian UFO sightings since 1989. The latest version of the survey was released Monday.

“For this study, the working definition of a UFO is: ‘an object seen in the sky which its observer cannot identify,’” the survey explained. “UFO witnesses range from farmhands to airline pilots and from teachers to police officers.”

Lights, spheres, triangles and more

The 1,052 UFO reports made in 2025 was a slight increase from 2024, when 1,008 reports were collected. Just over half of the reports in 2025 were of lights in the sky (52 per cent) while other reported shapes included spheres (11 per cent), triangles (five per cent) and discs (five per cent).

Nearly half of the sightings (48 per cent) were of white objects or lights, followed by “multicoloured” at 16 per cent. About 13 per cent of sightings were during the day. Ontario had the most reports at 307, followed by Quebec at 210 and B.C. at 131.

Rutkowski, who has authored 10 books on the subject, says he remains motivated by “scientific curiosity.” While he says “there’s no proof aliens are responsible” for UFO sightings, he continues to encounter “interesting cases that don’t seem to have good explanations.”

The 2025 survey includes several unexplained examples, such as a case from last December that was submitted via the UFO research group MUFON, which involved an alleged witness driving near Hafford, Sask., who reported seeing a “domed, silver disc-shaped object hovering across the highway, 20 feet off the ground.”

Another from last April in Sudbury, Ont., described a glowing “orange diamond” that “went higher and then became an orb.”

While most reports are submitted by the public and many remain unconfirmed, some are taken from official sources, including 18 that were found in Transport Canada’s online aviation incident database.

They include a flight approaching Vancouver International Airport that reported “an unrecognizable flying object of mechanical nature, without lights” and another flight over northern Alberta that reported “a cylinder-shaped object” at 39,000 feet.

Transport Canada routinely cautions that such “reports contain preliminary, unconfirmed data which can be subject to change.”

From UFO to UAP

Short for “unidentified flying object,” the “UFO” acronym is increasingly being replaced by the term “UAP” in official circles, which stands for “unidentified aerial (or anomalous) phenomena.”

In the U.S., the Pentagon has a dedicated UAP research office. U.S. President Donald Trump also recently promised the release of government UFO files.

With little to no official investigation in Canada, a 2025 report from the government’s top scientific advisor recommended the creation new federal body to standardize, collect and study UAP reports.

“Given that thousands of Canadians each year believe they have seen UFOs, and since there is a need to better understand incursions into Canadian airspace regardless of UAP origin, Canada should create an office dedicated to UAP research,” Rutkowski said.

For his research, Rutkowski has quietly received UFO reports directly from officials at Transport Canada and the Canadian Armed Forces. A 2022 C

TVNews.ca investigation also revealed that Rutkowski contributed material to a UFO briefing that was held for former defence minister Harjit Sajjan.

With many sightings likely going unreported, Rutkowski urges more Canadians to document their UFO experiences, which can be submitted online to the Canadian UFO Survey team.

“There still may be a bit of a stigma on admitting you have seen a UFO, but this is changing,” Rutkowski said. “In order to better understand the UFO phenomenon, we need more data, and that data comes from witnesses coming forward with their sighting reports.”

Watch: Triangular UFO Filmed in Slovakia

March 10, 2026

A remarkable piece of security footage from Slovakia shows an eerie set of triangular lights cruising through the night sky.

The interesting incident occurred on February 25th near the village of Dubnica nad Váhom and was detailed to the National UFO Reporting Center by a bewildered witness who shared a rather intriguing account of the event.

Along with two friends, they heard an unusual sound that "passed over us and was loud, but we didn't see anything, even though we kept looking at the sky," which was particularly clear that evening.

When the witness went home and checked their security footage from around the time of the incident, they were stunned by what the camera had captured.

In the footage (featured above), a trio of lights that were seemingly the source of the strange noise can be seen gliding through the sky.

While this would appear to account for the mysterious sound, it remains uncertain as to what the weird aerial anomaly might have been.

Some have suggested that the UFO was otherworldly in nature, while others have argued that it could have been a clandestine craft like the apocryphal TR-3B spy plane.

More skeptical observers argue that the oddity could have been a drone, but the witness insists that this was not the case due to the speed of the object.

With that in mind, what do you think was filmed over the Slovakian village late last month? Weigh in with your best guess at the C2C Facebook page.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas talks ‘alien intervention’ in ancient Hindu texts

Updated: Mar 9, 2026 / 04:37 PM CDT

During her recent appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast, Priyanka Chopra Jonas explored a wide range of topics, including the possibility of alien intervention in ancient Hindu texts.

Rogan brought up alien life, a topic he enjoys, and the 43-year-old Indian actress expressed a similar fascination and openness to the prospect.

“In ancient religious texts, there’s many stories of humans breeding with something from somewhere else,” said Rogan.

“So many of our texts, the Vedas, are the oldest texts in the world. And to be able to read stories which now maybe we imagine are stories but are probably reality of a civilization gone by is crazy to think about,” Chopra Jonas said.

What are the Vedas in Hinduism?

The Vedas are four foundational ancient Hindu texts dating back to 1500 to 500 B.C. Written in Sanskrit, they consist of hymns, rituals about Hindu mythology and procedures for the worship of Hindu gods and goddesses.

Priyanka reveals a multifaith background

Chopra Jonas discussed her own faith background with Rogan, placing it in the context of the cultural and religious diversity in India.

“India is hyper diverse,” she said. “So when you go to India, the amount of diversity you will see, the range of people that you will meet is impossible to fathom.”

That rich heritage pertains to her own family, Chopra Jonas explained.

“My grandmother was Catholic because … she was raised in a part of India which was colonized and a lot of people with Kerala a lot of people were converted into Catholicism and she grew up Catholic and she followed it for a really long time in her life,” Chopra Jonas revealed.

Chopra Jonas grew up in a Hindu family but was exposed to Christianity and Islamic influences in her childhood.

“With the swirling number of religions that live within the country [India] … I grew up in a convent school … so I was aware of Christianity,” she told Oprah in a 2021 interview. “My dad used to sing in a mosque. I was aware of Islam.”

“Spirituality is such a large part of India, you can’t ignore it,” Chopra Jonas concluded.

Priyanka and Nick Jonas raising child with Hindu and Christian values

She married Nick Jonas in 2018 in a Hindu and Christian ceremony. They are raising their daughter, Malti Marie, with Hindu and Christian values and traditions, according to the celebrity couple.

Gwen Stefani accused of MAGA makeover after Lent message

Speaking on the podcast “Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard,” Nick said, “I have a deep and meaningful relationship with God but God has taken many different shapes than what I just read in one book now.

And marrying an Indian woman who is Hindu, I have learned so much about that religion and faith that it is so inspiring. We are raising a child who is gonna have elements of biblical principles and also from the Hindu faith.”

Brian Cox reveals BBC panic over potential alien contact during Stargazing Live

Last updated: March 10, 2026

In a recent revelation, physicist Brian Cox disclosed that BBC executives found themselves in a state of panic regarding potential alien contact during the production of his show, Stargazing Live.

While filming with comedian Dara Ó Briain, the team playfully decided to send signals toward distant planets.

However, the lighthearted experiment took a serious turn when BBC officials reached out to Cox with concerns about what would happen if they actually received a response from extraterrestrial beings.

Cox recounted how the BBC made frantic phone calls, asking him what protocols were in place for such an unprecedented situation.

"We had a panicked phone call from the BBC going, ‘What if we actually hear something? Because we don’t know what the regulations are,’" he said during an appearance on Radio X’s The Chris Moyles Show.

His comments highlight the uncertainty that even large organizations like the BBC may encounter when faced with extraordinary possibilities.

The executives’ response was not merely one of curiosity; they attempted to halt the experiment altogether, worried about the implications of contacting potential alien life.

"It was really weird! They go, ‘You can’t do that,’" Cox shared, noting that there was a clear lack of guidance on whom to inform if they were to receive a communication from beyond Earth.

In a light-hearted twist, Cox humorously suggested that if little green men had actually reached out, he might have turned to "the Vatican" as his first contact point for direction.

This mix of humor and seriousness underscores the complexities and challenges associated with the possibility of extraterrestrial communication.

The situation illustrates not just the scientific interest in the search for alien life but also the broader implications such discoveries would have for society and established institutions.

The incident serves as a reminder of the unknowns that lie beyond our planet and raises questions about humanity’s preparedness for contact with life beyond Earth.

Parents of the Nephilim?

March 10, 2026

Why were there so many insane asylums and orphan homes across the world—and where did they all go?

In the 1800s, the population suddenly exploded, yet countless family records seem to disappear from the timeline.

At the same time, statues across continents appear with missing hands, feet, and heads. But what if those weren’t accidents? Across history, a strange pattern appears again and again—giants described with six fingers and six toes.

When these clues are examined together, the story of our past may be far stranger than we’ve been told.
