Large fire is occurring at LyondellBasell Bayport Polymers Chemical Plant in Pasadena, Texas.
The La Porte Office of Emergency Management says the fire is located in the 10800 block of Choate Road and hazmat and foam units responding. Two tanks are reportedly on fire.
An early release from the company said area residents “may notice a bright flame, smoke, or a rumbling noise” due to flaring.
A later update stated “We are experiencing an operational upset” and telling residents they did not need to take any action.
Adding “We are actively working to stop flaring quickly and safely.”
