Lavrov: Russia 'will do everything’ to make US-Israeli aggression against Iran ‘impossible’
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said that Russia “will do everything” in its power to create conditions that would render an American-Israeli war of aggression against Iran “impossible.”
Lavrov made the remarks on Thursday during a roundtable discussion with ambassadors, amid escalating US-Israeli aggression against Iran.
Lavrov emphasized Russia's commitment to maintaining dialogue with regional nations and the international community, including the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), to prevent further US and Israeli aggression against Iran.
“We will continue to dialogue with these countries and include other countries and international communities of the UNSC and UNGA to make these operations impossible,” he said.
The Russian foreign minister further stated that the United States' ongoing military offensive, dubbed “Operation Epic Fury,” aims to create divisions among Persian Gulf countries and disrupt relations between Iran and its Arab neighbors.
“One of the goals of these operations is to divide the countries of the Persian Gulf,” he said.
Additionally, Lavrov expressed concern that the ongoing war against Iran could undermine non-proliferation principles.
He warned that the US and Israel’s unprovoked war of aggression against Iran might encourage a nuclear arms race.
"I hope very much that the current war against Iran will not undermine the foundations of non-proliferation principles.
