Bondi’s DOJ Won’t Enforce Law That Could Avert Growing Red State Crisis
The Trump administration won’t enforce a key law that could limit the abortion pill crisis facing Republican states.
Attorney General Pam Bondi’s Department of Justice (DOJ) has continued Biden-era opposition to enforcing the Comstock Act, a 1873 law that prohibits mailing anything “designed, adapted, or intended for producing abortion,” while resisting lawsuits by pro-life states seeking to stop the flood of mifepristone entering through the mail.
“It’s curious that they would let a Biden-era legal opinion stand when the administration has been reversing Biden-era positions like a hot knife through butter,” a former DOJ attorney granted anonymity to speak freely told the Daily Caller News Foundation.
During Trump’s first year, the DOJ has been aggressive in litigation, using it to advance policy goals on immigration and election integrity, strategically challenge Supreme Court precedent, push back on “lawfare” that followed Trump on the campaign trail and pursue indictments against prominent Democrats like former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James. The DOJ’s solicitor general’s office has filed uninvited briefs at the Supreme Court to support religious liberty, defend Second Amendment rights and back energy companies facing climate change lawsuits.
Yet it has not taken the same bold approach with the abortion pill.
A Biden-era DOJ Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) memo issued in 2022 determined the Comstock Act does not prohibit mailing “mifepristone or misoprostol where the sender lacks the intent that the recipient of the drugs will use them unlawfully.”
Trump’s DOJ has not issued a new memo or rescinded the old one, and the department declined to comment on whether it has any plans to reevaluate.
Meanwhile, DOJ asked on Friday to pause or dismiss Missouri’s lawsuit, which it brought alongside Kansas and Idaho, asking to reinstate U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) safety regulations for the abortion pill, including the in person dispensing requirement.
The administration wants the court to wait at least until the FDA is finished with its mifepristone safety review, which it has not given a timeline for completion. Days after announcing the review, the FDA quietly approved a new version of the generic abortion pill.
The states “suffer no sovereign injury because they remain free to make and enforce their pro-life policies after Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Org,” the DOJ’s filing claims.

‘Hidden Hand’ of Putin Active in Iran, Says British Government
The British defence minister said “Putin’s hidden hand” is behind some Iranian tactics and capabilities as it lashes out with drones and missiles across the Middle East.
The Russia-Iran “axis of aggression” is on display as events develop in the Middle East, United Kingdom Minister of Defence John Healey said during a visit to the UK-NATO command centre at Northwood on Thursday. Addressing the level of Russian involvement in Iran’s drone, rocket, and missile strikes, Healey asserted that Putin benefits from maximising carnage because it boosts his oil revenues, and stated: “No one will be surprised to believe that Putin’s hidden hand is behind some of the Iranian tactics and potentially some of their capabilities as well.”
Healey continued, reports The Daily Telegraph that: “We have seen this axis of aggression, with Russia firing 60,000 drones into Ukraine… We have seen the same tactics by Iran. These countries like to menace their neighbours.”
The comments came after British troops shot down two drones from a swarm headed to a coalition base in Iraq on Wednesday night. Some of the drones landed in the base and exploded. No British troops were injured but some American soldiers were. Healey said the remains of the attack drones were being analysed to discover whether they had any Russian parts.
Lieutenant General Nick Perry spoke alongside defence boss Healey, to say he’d seen advances in Iranian drone technique that he credited to the battlefield experience in the Ukraine War. The officer remarked: “We have definitely seen the Iranian tactics of the use of their drones has learnt from the Russians. They are flying them much lower and therefore they are more effective. There is no doubt [the Iranian] tactics have changed and [are] being more effective and proving problematic.”
It is stated beyond lessons learned on the employment of large numbers of drones in Ukraine now being applied by Iran in the Middle East, Russia is also supporting its “axis” partner by sharing intelligence on Western targets in the Middle East. Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) said as much earlier this week when he stated, as reported, that Putin is “helping Iran. Putin hates our guts”. The White House has already warned Russia against aiding Iran.

They showed in animal models not only that preserving normal brain NAD+ balance blocks the onset of Alzheimer’s, but also that restoring brain NAD+ balance in advanced stages of Alzheimer’s enables the brain to reverse pathology and restore normal cognitive function.
Therapies that restore brain energy balance could offer a path to recovery from Alzheimer’s.
These findings encourage new research into complementary approaches and clinical testing in patients.
CLEVELAND – For over a century, Alzheimer's disease (AD) has been considered irreversible. Consequently, research has focused on disease prevention or slowing, rather than recovery. Despite billions of dollars spent on decades of research, there has never been a clinical trial of a drug for AD with an outcome goal of reversing disease and recovering function.

The study, led by Kalyani Chaubey, PhD, from the Pieper Laboratory, published today in Cell Reports Medicine. Through studying diverse preclinical mouse models and human AD brains, the team showed that the brain’s failure to maintain normal levels of a central cellular energy molecule, NAD+, is a major driver of AD, and that maintaining proper NAD+ balance can prevent and even reverse the disease.
NAD+ levels decline naturally across the body, including the brain, as people age. Without proper NAD+ balance, cells eventually become unable to execute critical processes required for proper functioning and survival. In this study, the team showed that the decline in NAD+ is even more severe in the brains of people with AD, and that this also occurs in mouse models of the disease.

American Casualties Reported After Attack On Saudi Base, UAE And Oman Also Hit (Videos)
The United States military evacuated 19 injured troops on March 12 from the Middle East to Germany as regional tensions continued to escalate due to the American-Israeli war on Iran, CBS News reported.
Citing sources, the network said that the plane flew from Saudi Arabia, stopped in Oman and landed at a U.S. base in Germany near a military hospital.
Two evacuees were injured when a drone exploded near their vehicle, according to the report, which didn’t provide further details on the losses.
During the day and overnight, the Saudi Ministry of Defense reported the interception of over 80 suicide drones, in addition to at least two ballistic missiles, all believed to have been launched from Iran as a part of the Islamic Republic’s retaliatory strikes against the U.S. and Israel.
Many of these drones and missiles were intercepted close to Prince Sultan Air Base, according to the ministry. Multiple U.S. warplanes are currently based there, including airborne early warning and control aircraft, as well as communication relay planes. These warplanes are certainly aiding the attack on Iran.
Others were shot down over the Empty Quarter, while heading towards Shaybah field. The field is one of Saudi Arabia’s largest oil and gas fields, producing over one million barrels per day of premium crude, in addition to natural gas liquids critical for the kingdom’s petrochemical industry.
In addition, the ministry reported drone interceptions over the al-Safarat district in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, where many embassies and diplomatic missions are located.
Later in the early morning of March 13, an Iranian drone hit a building at the Dubai International Financial Centre in the United Arab Emirates.
Footage of the incident shows smoke coming from a cluster of high-rise buildings in the large city. Earlier, authorities in Dubai said that they were dealing with a “minor incident” caused by falling debris following an aerial interception over the city.
Emirate officials said that the debris struck the facade of a building in downtown Dubai, according to Anadolu Agency. No casualties were reported.
