Space Force commander expects Vandenberg to break own launch record soon

last updated 8:06 PM, Mar 12, 2026

Vandenberg Space Force Base could set a new launch record in the near future.

Col. James Horne, the commander of Space Launch Delta 30 and the base’s Western Launch and Test Range, told attendees at the annual State of Vandenberg event held Thursday on base that he believes in the next five to 10 years, launch rates will double or potentially even triple.

The record for launches from Vandenberg for a single year is 123, set in 1967.

Col. Horne says he is expecting to break that soon.

Three to four of the base’s launches every year are tests of unarmed intercontinental ballistic missiles.

Related: Unarmed ICBM takes off from Vandenberg Space Force Base

While these test launches are nothing new at Vandenberg, Col. Dustin D. Harmon explained they still come with some challenges.

"On one hand, a weapon that you've been testing for a long time, you kind of get into a rhythm and you understand what used to happen. On the other hand, the weapon system gets a vote, and so as it ages, we find things that we didn't expect.

Some things that last a lot longer than we thought they would, sometimes last less time than we think they would, so trying to do the predictive analysis gets a lot more challenging," Col. Harmon said.

The event also highlighted a growing need for housing, the Sentinel program, which will replace Minuteman IIIs, an increasing number of trained civilian guardians through Delta 1, which handles Basic Military Training, the use of the base’s airfield from commercial company Stratolaunch for hypersonic vehicle landings, and F-15 fighter jets, which were heard in the area Wednesday and will return at times getting used to Vandenberg operations.

Russian hospitals hit, strikes on kindergartens: Does Ukraine think everyone’s distracted by Iran?

Updated 13 Mar, 2026 17:30

Ukraine has launched a series of deadly attacks on Russian territory, using Western-supplied weapons and targeting data from its backers while the world’s attention has remained fixed on the escalating war in Iran.

At least 23 civilians have been killed and 85 injured by Ukrainian attacks on Russia since February 28, the day the US and Israel began bombing Iran.

RT has been closely monitoring these developments, documenting a pattern of strikes that have targeted civilians and infrastructure across Russian regions.

What attacks has Ukraine carried out on Russian civilains?

The deadliest attack took place on Tuesday 10 March, when Ukrainian drones struck a hospital in Russia’s Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), killing ten medical personnel. Another ten people, including nine staff, were injured.

On the same day the Ukrainian military used a UK-supplied Storm Shadow missile to attack the city of Bryansk, about 100 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, killing at least seven civilians and wounding at least 42 people.

Using such a weapon is impossible without the direct involvement of British military specialists.

On March 8, International Women's Day and a public holiday in Russia, a family of four, including a six-year-old boy, were killed and twelve others injured by a wave of Ukrainian strikes on the DPR.

On March 6, two people were killed when Ukrainian drone dropped explosives on civilians outside a grocery store in Russia's Kherson Region.

A drone raid on the city of Novorossiysk in southern Russia on March 4 injured seven and caused extensive damage, including to kindergartens.

The DPR, along with the neighboring Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR), seceded from Ukraine following a Western-backed coup in Kiev in 2014.

The two territories, along with Zaporozhye Region and Kherson Region, joined Russia following referendums in September 2022.

Civilians in Russia's border regions have been consistently targeted by Ukrainian drones throughout the conflict, with Moscow accusing Kiev of “terrorism.”

Moscow has insisted that Kiev is attacking civilians because it cannot halt Russian advances on the battlefield. Ukrainian officials claim that inflicting sufficient economic damage will force the Kremlin to abandon its objectives in the four-year conflict.

Beyond civilian casualties, Ukraine has also been attacking energy infrastructure. Pipeline operator Gazprom reported on Wednesday that some of its compressor stations, including one serving the TurkStream pipeline, had been hit.

The Russian Defense Ministry has accused Kiev of seeking to disrupt deliveries to European consumers.

Moscow summons British and French envoys over deadly Ukrainian missile strike

Updated 13 Mar, 2026 17:10

The Foreign Ministry in Moscow has summoned the envoys of France and Britain to submit a “strong protest” over the deadly strike on the Russian city of Bryansk.

The Ukrainian military launched the attack on Tuesday, striking the city with long-range Storm Shadow cruise missiles manufactured by the Franco-British corporation MBDA. The assault left at least eight people dead and dozens more wounded.

The ministry said it told the envoys that London and Paris “bear direct responsibility for this terrorist attack” and emphasized that the strike on Bryansk “would have been impossible without the participation of British and French specialists” in its staging.

“It was underscored that if London and Paris continue to be complicit in the war crimes of the Kiev regime, responsibility for the destructive consequences of the armed conflict and the escalation of tensions will fall on Britain and France,” the ministry stressed.

Ukraine has acknowledged responsibility for the strike, claiming it was targeting a local microelectronics factory. The attack reportedly came during a shift change at the facility, when some employees were heading to the exit.

Some of the missiles used apparently missed the plant and landed in the city’s streets, damaging shopping stands, civilian vehicles and residential buildings.

Kiev has seemingly ramped up strikes on Russia in recent days while global attention remains diverted from the Ukraine conflict amid the US-Israeli war on Iran.

Ukrainian forces have staged several large-scale attacks on civilian sites in Russia, as well as repeatedly targeted the country’s energy infrastructure.

The Tuesday attack on a hospital in Russia’s Donetsk People’s Republic became the deadliest incident in the ongoing string of strikes.

It left ten medical personnel dead, while ten other people, including nine staff, were injured.

'We don't need Ukraine's help' — Trump rebuffs Zelensky's drone defense offer

Updated: March 13, 2026 6:15 pm

The U.S. does not need Ukraine's assistance with strengthening anti-drone defenses amid the ongoing fighting in the Middle East, U.S. President Donald Trump said in an interview with Fox News aired on March 13.

"No, we don't need (Ukraine's) help in drone defense," Trump said in the interview. "We know more about drones than anybody. We have the best drones in the world, actually."

The comments come as an unexpected rebuff of Kyiv's offer to share its combat‑tested experience and technology for countering Iranian‑made strike drones with the U.S. and Middle Eastern countries.

The claim also appears to conflict with President Volodymyr Zelensky's earlier statement that Kyiv agreed to Washington's request for assistance in protecting U.S. military bases in Jordan.

More than 10 countries have already requested Kyiv's aid, Zelensky said on March 13, after previously confirming that Ukrainian experts were also sent to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.

Already since last year, Ukraine has been offering to share its experience in drone technology — a vital weaponry on Ukrainian battlefields — with the U.S. in exchange for anti-missile defenses.

The Trump administration reportedly dismissed the initial offer last August during Zelensky's visit to the White House.

Russia targets Ukraine with mass drone strikes on a daily basis, with a daily average estimated at between 150 and 200 drones. The country was hit by a record 728 Shahed-type attack drones and decoys in a mass attack in July 2025.

From December 2025 through February, Russian forces launched nearly 19,000 strike drones against Ukraine, mainly Shahed-type strike unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), according to Zelensky.

Hostilities in the Middle East erupted after U.S. and Israeli forces launched combined attacks against Iran on Feb. 28, leading Tehran to fire waves of missiles and drones against countries across the region.

Since the start of the conflict, Iran has launched over 500 ballistic missiles and over 2,000 drones, though the latest reporting suggests Tehran's weapons stockpiles may be diminishing.

The conflict led to a surge in oil and gas prices after Tehran closed the Strait of Hormuz, a route that carries roughly 20% of the world's oil supply.

In the interview, Trump acknowledged that Russia may be providing limited assistance to Iran, lending credibility to earlier reports that Moscow is helping Iranian forces target American military assets in the region.

The comments come as the Trump administration moved to temporarily ease sanctions on Russian oil amid rising prices.

Why the IDF is operating in Lebanon Today

08.03.26

The IDF is fighting a war against the Iranian terrorist regime, and now Hezbollah have joined the fight, bringing the battle to Israel’s northern border.

08.03.26

On March 2, 2026, Hezbollah made the deliberate decision to join Iran’s ongoing war against Israel, launching a wave of attacks on the behest of the Iranian regime.

Since that date, the terrorist organization has fired dozens of rockets and UAVs toward Israel, escalating the threat to northern communities and putting millions of Israeli civilians at risk.

In the past, Iran has invested nearly one billion dollars in strengthening its proxy network, directing a significant portion to Hezbollah to reinforce the group’s military capabilities and infrastructure.

Hezbollah continues to deliberately embed its military infrastructure–including weapons storage sites, missile launchers, underground facilities and command centers–inside civilian neighborhoods.

The Dahiyeh district in Beirut, Hezbollah’s largest stronghold, serves as the main hub from which senior leaders plan and execute terror operations against Israel.

From this district, Hezbollah has launched attacks against IDF forces and Israeli civilians alike, demonstrating a blatant disregard for the safety of Lebanese citizens in pursuit of one objective: the destruction of Israel.

In response to these attacks, the IDF has conducted extensive operations to degrade Hezbollah’s capabilities while taking deliberate steps to protect civilian life.

Over the past four days, IDF Air Force aircraft have struck approximately 600 Hezbollah sites, employing roughly 700 munitions against terror infrastructure throughout Lebanon.

In the Dahiyeh, the IDF has carried out 26 waves of strikes against Hezbollah command centers and multi-story buildings housing terror infrastructure.

The IDF has conducted precision strikes against senior Hezbollah commanders and operational leaders, including a Hamas operative in the Tripoli area.

Key leaders of the Radwan Force were neutralized in Majdal Sel, southern Lebanon, where they had been planning attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF forces. Approximately 65 targets associated with the Radwan Force have been neutralized.

>>24376947

Additional strikes targeted rocket launchers, UAV storage facilities and weapons depots across southern Lebanon and the Beqaa Valley.

Overnight, waves of Air Force operations focused on headquarters used by the IRGC’s Air Force and other Hezbollah units, ensuring the dismantling of operational command centers designed to launch attacks on Israel.

The Israeli Navy has also played a key role in the operation, carrying out extensive strikes against Hezbollah positions along the Lebanese coast, including in Beirut’s Dahiyeh district, Sidon, and Tyre.

Throughout these operations, the IDF has maintained a commitment to precision and mitigation of civilian harm by issuing evacuation warnings for areas near Hezbollah infrastructure, particularly in Dahiyeh, while employing precise munitions, advanced intelligence and aerial surveillance to focus attacks exclusively on terrorist targets.

The combination of air, ground and naval operations reflects a comprehensive strategy: to degrade Hezbollah’s military capabilities, protect Israeli civilians and prevent Hezbollah from using Lebanese civilians as human shields in pursuit of Iranian objectives.

The decision to issue evacuation warnings reflects a conscious trade-off by the IDF. While the element of surprise in military operations can often decide outcomes, the IDF has chosen to prioritize civilian safety over immediate tactical advantage.

Hezbollah’s deliberate embedding of weapons and command centers in densely populated neighborhoods forces this choice. By providing civilians with the opportunity to evacuate, the IDF mitigates the risk of collateral damage, even while continuing to strike key military infrastructure.

The border between Israel and Lebanon is extremely close to Israeli civilian towns, making the presence of forward defensive forces critical.

The IDF has positioned troops at key points along the border, maintaining control over forward positions to prevent Hezbollah infiltrations or attacks on civilian communities in northern Israel.

In recent days, IDF soldiers have been injured while defending the border. Five soldiers were severely injured by projectile fire near the Lebanese border and evacuated for medical treatment, three additional soldiers were lightly injured in the same incident, and two more were moderately wounded by anti-tank fire during defensive operations.

Without these forward positions, the attacks launched by Hezbollah would have been directed at Israeli civilians in the north. The IDF honors these soldiers for standing on the frontlines and defending Israel. Their courage saves lives and earns our deepest gratitude.

The IDF will take every action to avoid causing northern Israeli communities to face evacuations like those of October 8, 2023, prioritizing the protection of civilians in their homes while continuing operations against Hezbollah infrastructure.

The defensive measures include maintaining control points throughout southern Lebanon, monitoring for infiltration and holding a forward defense posture that balances readiness with civilian protection.

These steps ensure that while the IDF engages Hezbollah militarily, Israeli civilians are protected from the threat of rocket and UAV attacks.

Hezbollah remains a dangerous force in southern Lebanon.

As it continues its aggression in coordination and aided by Iran, Israel remains resolute in defending its people, neutralizing threats and ensuring that northern communities can continue their lives in safety and security.

UN: More than 200 civilians killed in Sudan drone attacks

March 13, 2026 GENEVA

U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk said on Thursday he was appalled by the growing toll on civilians from drone attacks in Sudan, amid reports that more than 200 people have been killed since March 4 in the Kordofan region and White Nile state.

“It is deeply troubling that despite multiple reminders, warnings and appeals, parties to the conflict in Sudan continue to use increasingly powerful drones to deploy explosive weapons with wide-area impacts in populated areas,” Türk said in a statement.

“I renew my call on them to abide fully by international humanitarian law in their use of these weapons, particularly the clear prohibition on directing attacks against civilians and civilian objects and infrastructure, and against any form of indiscriminate attacks.”

In West Kordofan, at least 152 civilians were reportedly killed in drone strikes by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), including at least 50 when a market and a hospital were hit on March 4 in Al-Muglad.

Attacks on two separate markets in Abu Zabad and Wad Banda on March 7 left at least 40 civilians dead. A lorry carrying civilians was allegedly struck by an SAF drone in Al-Sunut on March 10, reportedly killing at least 50 people, including women and children.

In South Kordofan, at least 39 civilians were reportedly killed in heavy artillery shelling by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and allied SPLM-North fighters between March 4 and 5, including 14 in the state capital, Dilling.

Many homes, schools, markets and health facilities were damaged or destroyed in the attacks, compounding the suffering of civilians and local communities.

Türk also expressed alarm at the recent expansion of the conflict to White Nile state, which has come under heavy attack from RSF drones since March 4.

A secondary school and a health clinic in Shukeiri village were hit on March 11, reportedly killing at least 17 civilians, including a health worker. Several other drones have struck the state capital Kosti since March 4, including one that hit a university dormitory on March 9, reportedly injuring seven students, some critically.

Another drone struck an electrical transformer at the Um Dabakir station on March 10, causing widespread power outages.

“It will soon be three full years since the senseless conflict in Sudan began, devastating millions of lives and livelihoods,” Türk said.

“Yet the violence, fueled by these new technologies of war, simply keeps spreading. It is high time it came to an end. The Sudanese people have already suffered far too much.”

Mystery Source Behind Trump's July 8 UFO Speech Claim Allegedly Leaked in New Interview

13 March 2026, 10:52 AM GMT

The mystery behind claims that Donald Trump planned a dramatic UFO disclosure speech on 8 July has taken a new twist after filmmaker Mark Christopher Lee suggested his source may be a well known scientist and businessman with deep ties to UFO research.

In a recent interview, speculation intensified when the host proposed that billionaire aerospace entrepreneur Robert Bigelow could be linked to the information leak.

Lee did not confirm the name but admitted the description closely matched his elusive source, bringing the headline question closer to an answer.

How the Trump UFO Speech Story Began

The controversy started earlier this year when Lee publicly claimed that Donald Trump had already prepared a speech announcing UFO disclosure.

According to Lee, two independent sources told him that the address was scheduled for 8 July, deliberately chosen to coincide with the anniversary of the famous Roswell incident press release.

The supposed speech would reportedly acknowledge that the United States recovered a crashed flying saucer and its occupants in 1947.

Lee also said the address would reveal that government programmes had secretly studied and reverse engineered alien technology for decades.

He released the claim in a viral social media video, insisting that the speech had already been written and was waiting to be delivered.

The revelation quickly spread across the UFO community and triggered heated debate about whether disclosure was finally imminent.

Mark Christopher Lee Explains His Sources

In the new interview, Lee opened up about how he first obtained the information. The filmmaker said his contacts came after his documentary God vs Aliens gained attention at the Cannes Film Festival market in 2023.

The documentary explored the connection between religion and UFO sightings, including theories that some sightings could be linked to ancient descriptions of angels and demons.

According to Lee, the film drew interest from influential figures who shared similar ideas about the spiritual and scientific implications of unidentified aerial phenomena.

Lee explained that one of his sources was a successful businessman with a scientific background who had deep connections within the UFO research world.

He described the individual as highly knowledgeable and far more technically advanced in their understanding of the phenomenon than he was.

The filmmaker insisted he believed the information to be credible, adding that another well known podcaster had reportedly been told the same story but chose not to reveal it publicly.

The Interview Hint That Sparked the Bigelow Theory

The most explosive moment of the interview came when the host suggested that the mysterious insider could be Robert Bigelow.

The billionaire is known for funding UFO investigations and for his company Bigelow Aerospace, which has previously worked with NASA and conducted research into unexplained aerial phenomena.

The host described receiving a message allegedly linked to Bigelow suggesting the possibility of a 'soft disclosure' approach in 2026 rather than a full revelation.

The message claimed the goal would be to slowly prepare the public rather than release the entire truth at once.

When the name was mentioned, Lee appeared surprised but acknowledged that the description of his source as a wealthy scientist involved in UFO research could fit Bigelow.

However, he stopped short of confirming the claim outright, stating he was still bound by journalistic ethics to protect his sources.

Lee's Retraction

Despite the growing speculation, Lee has recently walked back parts of his original claim. In a public statement, he admitted he may have been misled by a coordinated disinformation campaign designed to manipulate the UFO community.

He revealed that the insider who provided the July speech timeline had stopped responding to messages and calls. Planned events that were supposed to precede the announcement, including a suggested press conference in May, never materialised.

Lee now believes the information may have been used to spread hope of disclosure without delivering concrete proof. Even so, he maintains that a prepared UFO speech for Trump could still exist and that some level of disclosure may eventually occur.

For now, the latest interview has pushed one name into the spotlight, suggesting that the real source behind the explosive claim may be hiding in plain sight within the world of billionaire funded UFO research.

Mysterious trio of lights 'chasing each other' spotted over New York City in eerie UFO sighting

Updated: 05:01 EDT, 13 March 2026

A strange trio of objects flying over New York City appeared to have all the signs of a real UFO encounter.

Charlie Correa, from New York's borough of Queens, spotted a single bright light in the sky on March 8 around 8.30pm ET.

Thinking it was a shooting star, they went outside to film it when two more small objects appeared and began chasing the first UFO.

'I have a drone and it either emits a green or red blinking light or no lights when recording. Government drones? UFOs,' Correa posted online.

The 18-second video clearly captured three white lights moving erratically through the sky, with one of the objects seeming to pull ahead of the other two before diving out of sight.

The unidentified objects appeared to stop and hover in mid-air before swerving in various directions as the two trailing craft tried to keep up with the lead UFO.

Many commenting on social media claimed they saw the same phenomenon earlier that night or on previous nights in other parts of the US.

Some suggested the object or objects may have been drones and not extraterrestrial craft, as New York's LaGuardia Airport is less than two miles from the witness's neighborhood.

'Could these be drones?' the Queens resident asked. 'I think they moved very weirdly and moved very fast when I first saw them. Also, do drones shine a light on themselves?'

The Daily Mail has reached out to the Federal Aviation Administration for comment regarding the video.

According to public databases that track these sightings, such as the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC) and Enigma Labs, the March 8 incident has not been officially reported by any witnesses yet.

Some viewers of the video theorized that the New Yorker had captured footage of one large, triangle-shaped craft rotating through the air.

'I saw this exact UFO over my apartments last Thursday!!!!' A person in Texas replied in the post on Reddit.

'Walking my dog, and I look up to this MASSIVE triangle with 3 lights like this just slowly moving across the sky. Four other tenants were outside talking, and they couldn’t believe it either! This is crazy,' they added.

'I'm in Ohio and noticed it was an oddly clear night, so I looked up and watched the sky for a while. I SWEAR I saw the same thing,' another person commented.

If the three lights were coming from separate UFOs or drones, some commented on how the objects followed a mysterious pattern that has been seen in multiple UFO incidents.

Both UFO researchers and witnesses have previously documented how swarms of three or four small objects were able to stay in formation and keep perfect distance from each other.

'If [you] watch carefully [you] can see how the distance between the objects is kind of consistent… very creepy,' one person wrote.

Jeremy Corbell, investigative journalist, documentary filmmaker, and co-host of the WEAPONIZED Podcast, recently revealed footage of a similar trio of bright orbs that flew in formation over the Persian Gulf in 2012.

Just like the lights seen over Queens on Sunday, those orbs in the Middle East were described as flying in an almost 'playful' manner.

The orbs appeared to be intelligently coordinated, maintaining equal distances without any visible wings, tails, fins, or engine exhaust of any kind.

Meanwhile, the new objects displayed another trait of past UFO sightings that scientists could not explain - unusual flight movements that defy basic physics.

In this case, the lights seen chasing the lead object repeatedly appeared to stop in mid-air before instantly accelerating without any visible thrust, something human aircraft haven't publicly shown an ability to do.

Connecticut Lawmakers Want Taxpayers to Fund A UFO Study

March 12 , 2026

Connecticut lawmakers have introduced legislation that would require the state to study unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) — better known to most people as UFOs.

Yes, really.

H.B. 5422, currently before the legislature’s Appropriations Committee, would require the University of Connecticut to conduct a statewide study examining unexplained aerial sightings and to evaluate whether Connecticut should establish a government center dedicated to studying them.

The bill directs UConn to analyze the “benefits of establishing a state center for the study of unidentified aerial phenomena” and determine the staffing and resources required to operate such a center.

It also instructs the university to consult with multiple state agencies — including the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, and the Office of Military Affairs — and review relevant data collected by those agencies.

The report would be due to lawmakers by July 1, 2027.

In short, the legislature is exploring the creation of a taxpayer-funded UFO research program.

The Cost Question

Supporters argue the study could provide scientific insight into unexplained aerial activity. But even the university tasked with conducting the research has made clear that it would not come without cost.

In written testimony to the Appropriations Committee, UConn Assistant Dean Kylene Perras stated that a meaningful study would require dedicated funding rather than being absorbed within existing university operations.

According to UConn’s estimates, a limited project involving one faculty researcher and graduate assistants would cost approximately $150,000. A broader research effort involving multiple faculty members could reach roughly $300,000.

The university also noted it is operating under “significant financial constraints,” warning that an unfunded mandate could divert resources from other academic priorities.

In other words, if lawmakers want a UFO study, taxpayers will likely be footing the bill.

A Data Problem

The proposal may also face practical limitations.

In testimony submitted to the committee, Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection Commissioner Ronnell Higgins raised concerns about the bill’s requirement that agencies share data with university researchers.

Much of the department’s information is sensitive and restricted to law enforcement or authorized entities due to public safety and national security considerations.

Higgins indicated that existing confidentiality and security rules could prevent the university from accessing certain data the bill assumes will be available.

The agency requested that lawmakers remove the data-sharing requirement to avoid conflicts with current law.

A Question of Priorities

Connecticut lawmakers are currently debating how to manage rising electricity rates, housing shortages, and tens of billions in long-term pension obligations.

Against that backdrop, the Appropriations Committee is now reviewing whether to commit public funds to a study of unidentified aerial phenomena.

The bill itself does not explicitly appropriate funding. But the cost estimates provided by UConn suggest that conducting the study would require a six-figure expenditure.

That raises a straightforward question: At a time when lawmakers frequently cite limited resources for core priorities, is a state-funded UFO study the best use of taxpayer dollars?

For now, H.B. 5422 remains under review. Whether it advances may ultimately say as much about legislative priorities as it does about unidentified objects in the sky.

U.S. government accused of pushing ‘fake news’ about UFOs to cover-up secret dark-project drone and aircraft technology

March 13, 2026

Donald Trump’s pledge to release official files relating to UFOs has intrigued conspiracy theorists who suspect the US government has hidden evidence of alien activity on Earth.

The real cover-up relating to supposed extraterrestrial life, however, involves the US air force sharing disinformation on the subject to hide its own “black project” technology.

That is the belief of Dr David Clarke, a lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University who spent five years researching official documents on UFOs and found nothing to make him believe aliens have visited.

“The real conspiracy is not that aliens have visited, it’s that the US Air Force have been pushing these stories for decades, because it’s a useful cover for all their nefarious activities,” Dr Clarke, who curated the National Archives’ UFO project, said.

I think it’s clear the US Air Force – and the alphabet soup of intelligence agencies – have for some time been using the widespread public belief in aliens and cover-ups to hide a range of black-project aircraft and drones that are under development.”

Researcher suggests use of psychedelic DMT can unlock hidden subconscious realities | Reality Check

Updated: Mar 9, 2026 / 02:05 PM CDT

In this episode of “Reality Check,” Ross Coulthart speaks with Danny Goler, an independent researcher and nonprofit owner who says he has discovered a hidden subconscious language using lasers and the mind-altering drug DMT.

Goler describes seeing intricate patterns resembling ancient, structured scripts, which he says are not hallucinations but a universal code.

He suggests DMT might reveal the brain’s true language and that the holographic principle could explain these observations despite skeptics.

Steven Spielberg on UFOs: “I Have a Strong Suspicion We’re Not Alone on Earth Right Now”

March 13, 2026 11:50am

Steven Spielberg was asked whether he believes in the real-life existence of aliens in the run up to his new UFO movie Disclosure Day.

The legendary 79-year-old filmmaker was giving a keynote interview at the South by Southwest Film & TV Festival in Austin, Texas on Friday.

“I don’t know any more than any of you do, but I have a very strong suspicion that we are not alone here on Earth right now — and I made a movie about that,” Spielberg said.

Elaborating on his view, the filmmaker noted that when he heard former President Barack Obama’s recent viral comment that aliens are “real,” his first thought was, “Oh, my God, this is so great for Disclosure Day!”

“And two days later, he stepped it back to to say what he believed was in life in the cosmos — which, of course, everybody should believe in,” he continued. “Because no one should ever think that we are the only intelligent civilization in the entire universe.

So I’ve been thinking as a kid that we were not alone. So that just goes without saying. The big question is: Are we alone now? And have we been alone over the last 80 years? Have we been alone over the last few 1,000 years?”

The filmmaker said he was “reinvigorated” into making his first UFO movie in nearly five decades — since Close Encounters of the Third Kind — by The New York Times‘ 2017 story about a secret government program tracking UFOs and the congressional hearings in recent years with government whistleblowers.

Yet filmmaker said he’s never seen a UFO himself — thought desperately wishes he had.

“I made a movie called Close Encounters of the Third Kind — I haven’t even had a close encounter or the first or second kind!” he said.

“Why haven’t I seen anything? Half of my friends have seen UFOS or UAPs. Where’s the justice of that? If you’re listening out there…”

“I’m not afraid of any aliens,” he added. “I have no fears about that whatsoever. . I think our movie does take into consideration that social dislocation that could occur.

If it was announced there is interaction [with aliens] that have been going on for decades, it’s going to cause a disruption in a lot of belief systems. But I don’t think it is a lethal disruption at all.”

Spielberg was appearing on a keynote panel, “The Big Picture with Steven Spielberg Live from SXSW” for a moderated conversation with podcaster Sean Fennessey.

The director also gave a passionate defense of the moviegoing experience and original filmmaking — while taking a playful shot at Timothée Chalamet.

“If we’re just not making the same sequel over and over and over again, and it’s not the same Marvel title over and over and over again, we all get a real chance to experience something which is precious,” he said.

“I look out at this auditorium with everybody here, and we’re all together. We don’t know each other, and we probably agree with each other more than we disagree with each other.

But the one thing I know is when we’re all watching something — it could hit us all independently, individually, in different ways — there is a collective impulse from a good story that hits all of us at the same time in exactly the same way.

There is something about community and communication and getting along with each other — and that happens in full movie theaters, and not sitting around living rooms watching on television …

Netflix is a great company to work with, but the real experience comes when we can influence a community to congregate in a strange, dark space … It happens in movies. It happens at concerts. And it happens in ballet and opera!”

Spielberg also reflected on making Close Encounters of the Third Kind, which is suspected to be a prequel to Disclosure Day (before the panel, a musician came on stage and played moody music that repeatedly included the iconic five notes from Close Encounters).

“Nobody would let me make Close Encounters because it was on the fringes of science and mythology, and so no one really got it. When I said, ‘I want to make a UFO movie,’ everybody thought, ‘You want to make a movie about The National Enquirer?’

You want to make a movie about the crackpot reporting of things that aren’t really occurring? You want to make a completely crazy fantasy film about something that isn’t happening?”

On other topics, Spielberg revealed he has a Western in development, which would fulfill his career-long desire to shoot a film in that genre. “And [the project] kicks ass,” he said. “There will be no stereotypes and no tropes.”

Spielberg also said he still re-watches Lawrence of Arabia every year. “The reason I watch that film it keeps me humble,” he said. “It reminds me that: ‘You will never be as good as [director] David Lean.'”

Asked if there’s a film he’s made that he thinks is underrated, he cited the 1989 Richard Dreyfuss fantasy Always.

The director was also asked about his famous ability to improvise his shots on the fly. “I didn’t have a single story board on Schindler’s List. I didn’t have a single story board on Saving Private Ryan.

When I get to the set in the morning there is something that happens that Is beautiful. There is an entire day of possibility yet undiscovered. What possibility will I choose first?”

Spielberg also confirmed that he has no plans of slowing down anytime soon — let alone retiring. “I never want to quit,” he declared.

Universal’s Disclosure Day stars Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor and Colin Firth. The film chronicles a global panic and societal upheaval when humanity receives undeniable proof that aliens exist.

The film is one of several current projects that are taking a “serious” look at UFO lore in the wake of recent congressional hearings and media reports on unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs).

The film has resulted in some confusion online given a documentary last year titled Age of Disclosure, which interviewed former government officials about UAPs, with some wondering if Spielberg’s fictional movie is part of some larger conspiratorial effort on the topic.
