DNI Tulsi Gabbard

@DNIGabbard

Donald Trump was overwhelmingly elected by the American people to be our President and Commander in Chief. As our Commander in Chief, he is responsible for determining what is and is not an imminent threat, and whether or not to take action he deems necessary to protect the safety and security of our troops, the American people and our country.

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence is responsible for helping coordinate and integrate all intelligence to provide the President and Commander in Chief with the best information available to inform his decisions.

After carefully reviewing all the information before him, President Trump concluded that the terrorist Islamist regime in Iran posed an imminent threat and he took action based on that conclusion.

Defiant Iranians celebrate ancient fire festival despite war

As dusk falls across Iran on Tuesday, bonfires, fireworks and street gatherings take place to mark Chaharshanbeh Suri,an ancient fire festival that has also become a public act of defiance, this year unfolding under war, heavy security and fears of bloodshed.

Iranian authorities have issued stark warnings ahead of Chaharshanbeh Suri, pointing to what they describe as wartime conditions and the risk of unrest.

Nevertheless, Iranians celebrated the festival, as Iran International's Negar Mojtahedi explains.

The Israeli military on Tuesday released video of an airstrike on a checkpoint in Tehran and said it had targeted numerous checkpoints across the capital in recent hours following the killing of the head of the Basij Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Footage sent to Iran International also shows the moments immediately after the strike on the checkpoint on Pirouzi Street in Tehran.

Senate launches debate on SAVE America Act with endgame uncertain

The bill is at the center of an intense GOP fight over the “talking filibuster.”

03/17/2026, 4:02PM ET

Senate Republicans voted Tuesday to launch debate on a GOP elections bill President Donald Trump called his “No. 1 priority” in Congress. They are preparing to keep it on the floor at least into next week.

Senators voted 51-48 to take up the House-passed SAVE America Act that would institute new citizenship and photo ID requirements in order to participate in elections.Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) voted against opening debate, and Rep. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) did not vote. Both had aired concerns about the process.

The Senate is expected to spend days, and potentially weeks, debating the bill in a bid to pacify conservatives and corner Democrats who oppose the new election restrictions. The debate is expected to include some late-night and weekend sessions.

But in the lead-up to Tuesday’s vote, discussions of the bill devolved into anincreasingly contentious GOP-on-GOP fight over how far the party should go to try to pass it.

Conservative hard-liners, led by Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah), want to force a “talking filibuster,” which they argue can overcome the usual 60-vote legislative threshold by requiring Democrats to hold the floor in order to block the bill.

But after weeks of internal conversations, Republicans have rejected that effort, which they fear could tie up the floor indefinitely and potentially let Democrats hijack the Senate agenda by forcing amendment votes on their own priorities.

Instead, Senate Majority Leader John Thune is expected to call up several amendments, including a proposal to expand the bill to include Trump-backed restrictionson mail voting, on transgender women participating in women’s sports and on gender-affirming surgeries for minors.

Thune’s move will limit Democrats’ ability to call up their own amendments and try to sidetrack the bill. Democrats have other options to frustrate the GOP, however, such as moving to adjourn the Senate or killing the bill.

Lee continues to advocate for a more aggressive approach: “If your senators don’t support using the talking filibuster to pass the SAVE America Act, you might need to replace them,” he wrote on X late Monday night.

The New York Times Hires Editor Who Reportedly Covered Up His Pal’s Child Porn Scandal

Isaac SchorrMar 17th, 2026,

LEFT: Noah Shachtman (Xavier

Noah Shachtman, the former editor-in-chief of Rolling Stone and The Daily Beast, has been hired by The New York Times as a contributing writer to its opinion section despite his well-documented effort to cover up a pal’s child porn scandal.

In October 2022, Rolling Stone was the first to report that ABC News national security producer James Gordon Meek’s home had been raided by the FBI that April. But its story about the matter bore little resemblance to reality.

That wasn’t the fault of reporter Tatiana Siegel, who had learned and wished to note that the raid was in connection with a federal investigation into images depicting child sex abuse.Shachtman, then serving as the top editor at the publication, reportedly instructed Siegel not to turn in a story with the words “child pornography” in it;and then took advantage of Siegel leaving work to tend to her dying mother by going back on an agreement to note that the FBI raid pertained to “possible criminal behavior outside the scope of Meek’s work” in her article, according to an NPR investigation.

Instead, as The Daily Beast put it at the time, “Rolling Stone’s big scoop last week, headlined ‘FBI Raids Star ABC News Producer’s Home,’ read like a Tom Clancy thriller and raised serious concerns that the feds raided a journalist over his work.”

“As published, the Rolling Stone article’s first two paragraphs lionized Meek’s record and swashbuckling style. ‘Meek appears to be on the wrong side of the national-security apparatus,’ it stated,” noted NPR. “In the hours leading up to publication, Shachtman changed Siegel’s draft to remove all suggestions that the investigation was not related to Meek’s reporting. He left in the finding that federal agents had allegedly found ‘classified information’ on Meek’s devices.”

Shachtman, whose direct involvement in editing Siegel’s stories was “rare,” also demanded that the featured image for the Meek story not be a photograph of its subject.

“In a note posted on a newsroom-wide Slack channel,” reported NPR. “Shachtman asked photo staffers to come up with a generic photograph rather than a picture of Meek. ‘let’s not use a picture of the guy in question, james gordon meek,’ Shachtman requested, eschewing capital letters, in a post stamped ‘NEEDS PHOTO.’ ‘something FBI-y, please.'”

The outlet also shed light on Shachtman and Meek’s relationship:

Prior to Meek’s arrest, Shachtman considered Meek a peer with whom he was friendly, according to associates.

Shachtman has told colleagues that the two men travel in the same professional circles.

Shachtman boasts his own distinguished record as a national security journalist. Earlier in his career, he founded and led the national security blog Danger Room for Wired magazine. In 2010, the writer Spencer Ackerman referred in a post on the blog to “our friend James Gordon Meek.” Shachtman later worked for Foreign Policy magazine before becoming the No. 2 editor and then editor-in-chief at the Daily Beast.

Shortly before Shachtman joined Rolling Stone, Meek suggested on Twitter that Shachtman should pay attention to an obscure band from Niger — the location of the botched military mission that Meek helped investigate for ABC. Shachtman replied by linking to an earlier review.

Meek soon emailed Shachtman to gauge interest in covering his Hulu documentary series. The new Rolling Stone editor passed the note along to colleagues; the magazine posted a glowing review some weeks later, in November 2021.

A 2023 Department of Justice indictment laid out the charges against Meek:

Several of Meek’s devices allegedly contained images depicting children engaged in sexually explicit conduct, and multiple chat conversations with users engaged in sexually explicit conversations where the participants expressed enthusiasm for the sexual abuse of children. In two of those conversations, a username allegedly associated with Meek received and distributed child sexual abuse materials through an internet-based messaging platform.

Among the most heinous allegations against Meek was that he shared a minute-plus long video of a female infant being raped online. He pled guilty to transportation and possession of child sexual abuse material in July 2023, and was sentenced to six years in prison that September.

The New York Times has not responded to a request for comment. Shachtman declined to comment on NPR’s 2023 story about his misconduct.

On Iran, Is Only Bad News Fit to Print?

Media partisanship has been worse than ever in this war. By Mark Penn and Andrew Stein March 16, 2026 11:39 am ET

President Trump’s complaints about the news coverage of the Iran war are predictable—and entirely justified. “We are totally destroying the terrorist regime of Iran, militarily, economically, and otherwise, yet, if you read the Failing New York Times, you would incorrectly think that we are not winning,” he wrote Friday morning on Truth Social. Pick up Sunday’s Times, and it’s as if the editors took that as a command rather than a criticism.

“War Sends More Tremors Through a Shaken World Economy,” reads a headline across the top of the front page, with the speculative subheadline “Fallout From Prolonged Conflict With Iran Could Bring ‘Catastrophic Consequences.’ ” Among the catastrophes the article cites: “In Kenya, tea growers and traders worried their exports to Iran would rot on the dock.”The other story above the front-page fold is a critique of the defense secretary: “Hegseth’s Vengeful Rhetoric Grew From Experience in Iraq.

Inside the paper are six more pages of war headlines, almost all relentlessly negative. There are disdainful pieces about the secretary of state (“For Trump and Rubio, It’s Destroy and Deal”) and about the central U.S. ally in the effort (“U.S. War Alliance with Israel Is Reshaping Mideast, but Carries Risk” and “Netanyahu Has War He Always Wanted, but on Trump’s Terms”). There’s more economic gloom (“Seized Oil Tankers Are Costing U.S. Tens of Millions” and “Oil Price Surge Rattles Weak Pakistan Economy”).

The biggest development since Saturday’s paper was the U.S. strike on Kharg Island, Iran’s main oil-export hub. The president said that the raid “totally obliterated” military facilities on the island and that he had decided to spare oil infrastructure “for reasons of decency.”Clearly the U.S. could strike them and do much more damage. The Times headline depicted the raid as ineffective: “Iran Firm on Strait Blockade Despite U.S. Attack at Oil Hub.”The only positive headline about the war effort:“To Fight Iran’s Drones, U.S. Taps Knowledge Hard-Won in Ukraine.”

Like the Times, much of the news mediaseems determined to advance a narrative that Mr. Trump is wrong about everything and that the U.S. is getting its clock cleaned by a powerful Iranian war machinethat has successfully made the transition to new leadership.

Journalists have a right and a duty to report bad news and to question Pollyannaish reports from the U.S. government. But many seem to begoing beyond that and rooting for America to lose—against an enemy that is the world’s biggest state sponsor of terror, that has killed thousands of unarmed protesters, and that stockpiled thousands of ballistic missiles while seeking nuclear weapons, which its rulers promised to use against the U.S. and Israel.

Largely absent are even the most basic stories analyzing Iran’s losses and the fate of their supposed leadership. Why? What seems to be driving the coverage is reportorial partisanship and the Democrats’ determination to oppose this president no matter what he does. We’ll see, again, how that works out for them.

WATCH:Four weeks ago, a frustrated ICE agent in the sanctuary city of Boston contacted me,telling me a group ofanti-ICE agitatorshad just blown their operation to arrest a Salvadoran fugitive who is wanted in his home country on anarrest warrant for child rape & had been living near a Boston elementary school.

He told me while he & his team were in their vehicles surveilling the target's residence in East Boston & waiting for him to come out,the ICE team was quickly surrounded by activists who blew whistles, cursed at them, and said they were traumatizing children at the nearby school down the street. Their cover was blown, the whole neighborhood was alerted, and the child rapist wasn't arrested.

The agent provided me several videos of the activists interfering that day (February 12th) as they unknowingly protected the child rapistfrom ICE arrest due toblind opposition to ICE.The agent asked me to sit on the videos until they were able to arrest the target.

I’m told that fugitive target is now in ICE custody four weeks later (arrested March 10th).The agent says the target, a child rapist, was on the streets four weeks longer than he should have beenbecause activists interfered without having any clue who they were protecting - and they dealing with this almost every day.

I’m told his the target’s name is WALTER ROBERTO VIDES-ORTEZ, a Salvadoran national who crossed the Texas border illegally in 2016, the same year that El Salvador issued an arrest warrant for him for the offense of child rape.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz Rejects Request to Send Escorts to Middle East to Support EU Oil Shipments

March 17, 2026 | Sundance |

The EU has balked at the request of President Trump to support military escorts for EU oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz destined for European Ports. However, it is the position of German Chancellor Fredrich Merz which really highlights the arrogance of the issue.

Germany has deactivated its nuclear reactors and decided not to purchase Russian oil/gas.As a consequence, the German industrial economy is contracting; the German auto industry is collapsing; German manufacturing plants are closing – and mass layoffs have been announced.

Into this self-created dynamic,Germany has become dependent on (1) Oil and Gas from the middle east, and (2) LNG from the USA. Germany is a completely dependent nation on the issue of energy production. Yet, this is Germanys position:

Bundeskanzler Friedrich Merz •@bundeskanzler G

==Translated from German Show original We will not participate in ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz by military means. The war in the Middle East is not a matter for NATO. Therefore, Germany will also not become involved

[SOURCE]

Setting aside for a moment that “the middle east is not a matter for NATO,” while reminding ourselves Ukraine is also not a NATO member state– yet Germany is supporting the pro-war ‘coalition of the willing,’ President Trump previously pointed out that NATO would never come to the aid of the USA when the Greenland Arctic Security debate was going on.

The EU in general, and Germany specifically, is essentially proving President Trump’s point. However, as a result of intentional migration, Germany has over five million Muslim residents now residing inside the country. We should consider that this overlay is also part of their internal political consideration.

What Chancellor Merz said next is almost too European to be real, but it is:

Bundeskanzler Friedrich Merz •@bundeskanzler© Translated from German Show original

The increased gasoline prices due to the crisis surrounding Iran are causing concern for many people. For this reason, the federal government has decided that gas stations may only raise fuel prices once per day. In this way, we are providing relief to consumers.

The German government destroyed affordable energy for Germans. The German government refuses to escort their own equity stakes to mitigate energy costs for Germans. Now the German government will limit the price increases to once per day to provide relief to Germans.

Seriously folks, you cannot make this stuff up.

=The tectonic plates are shifting==, and we are bearing witness to old geopolitical structures collapsing as the ground beneath them moves.

When history is written it will reflect that President Trump didn’t destroy NATO – he simply removed the mask.

PRESIDENT TRUMP – “The United States has been informed bymost of our NATO “Allies” that they don’t want to get involved with our Military Operation against the Terrorist Regime of Iran, in the Middle East, this, despite the fact that almost every Country strongly agreed with what we are doing, and that Iran cannot, in any way, shape, or form, be allowed to have a Nuclear Weapon.

I am not surprised by their action, however, becauseI always considered NATO, where we spend Hundreds of Billions of Dollars per year protecting these same Countries, to be a one-way street— We will protect them, but they will do nothing for us, in particular, in a time of need.

Fortunately, we have decimated Iran’s Military — Their Navy is gone, their Air Force is gone, their Anti-Aircraft and Radar is gone and perhaps, most importantly, their Leaders, at virtually every level, are gone, never to threaten us, our Middle Eastern Allies, or the World, again! Because of the fact that we have had such Military Success, we no longer “need,” or desire, the NATO Countries’ assistance — WE NEVER DID! Likewise, Japan, Australia, or South Korea.

In fact, speaking as President of the United States of America, by far the Most Powerful Country Anywhere in the World,WE DO NOT NEED THE HELP OF ANYONE! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”

~ President DONALD J. TRUMP

If the EU/NATO countries don’t want to support their own oil shipments, then pull the USA out of EU/NATO support arrangements.

Warning: when all the Muslims rise up to take over Europe, who will come and save them. These people are hideously stupid!

NCTC Director Joe Kent Resigns from Trump Administration in Protest to Iran War

March 17, 2026 | Sundance

Joe Kent, the director of the National Counterterrorism Center, has announced his resignation. Director Kent outlines his decision as driven by opposition to the war against Iran.

Kent, a senior deputy to Director of National intelligence Tulsi Gabbard posted his resignation letter on the X platform, writing: “I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran.” … “Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.”

Joe-Kent-Resignation.jpg

[SOURCE]

This is quite a remarkable development. Director Joe Kent’s full resignation letter is below, and out of an abundance of caution I prefer to await to see how President Trump and/or Tulsi Gabbard responds.

Unfortunately, one of the consequences of this very public resignation is going to be fuel upon the fire of division surrounding the issue of Israeli influence inside the Trump administration.

=Ugh!==

PRO TIP: Watch closely how JD Vance reacts.

September 1, 2021 – President Donald Trump previously said this:

“Joe Kent is a retired Green Beret and Gold Star husband running against RINO and incompetent Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler in the 3rd District of the State of Washington. Joe served his country proudly for many years and understands the tremendous cost of America’s wars in the Middle East, and elsewhere. In Congress, Joe will be a warrior for the America First agenda, unlike Jaime Herrera Beutler who voted, despite the facts, against the Republican Party and for the Democrats’ Impeachment Scam.”

“Joe Kent is strong on Crime and the Border, loves our Military and our Vets, and will protect our Second Amendment, which is under siege. I met Joe at Dover Air Force Base on the evening that his wife was being brought back from the Middle East, where she had been killed in combat. It was a very sad moment in Joe’s life, but I was incredibly impressed with him and told him that he should someday run for office—we need his voice and leadership in Washington, D.C. Now he is running, and Joe Kent has my Complete and Total Endorsement!”
