This is true, but what is also true, is that in America prices are going up anyways because of gougers taking advantage of the situation and there is no one to reinforce consumer protection laws. That is the reality.

True, but the question is, can Iran? I do not think they have that capability anymore as most of their radars are out of commission. Until we find a solution, whether we use their oil or not, global pricing including the US will go up, legitimately or illegitimately.
A third but more dangerous solution to setup but less risky to maintain, would be to run new plumbing by a series of pipes to the end of the Straits thereby removing the need for vessels to circumnavigate the narrow straights.
And the final solution, would be to carpet bomb along the Straits, anywhere Iran has control, send the Marines in to confiscate Kharg Island and areas of interest, and set up anti-missile batteries along the coast. Manned outposts on top of the mountain ranges.
