Tech Question for Anons - Does anyone know why the storage on my laptop is almost full when, in fact, I've purposely kept documents OFF of the laptop's hard-drive?

On the left side of the attached photo is a red box to denote the folders that I've purposely kept empty.

There is nothing there.

But no matter what I do, I'm getting messages saying that my C drive (the laptop's hard drive) is full.

I'm no tech genius.

I'm just a researcher trying to do some work for us and I keep having to reboot because that buys me a little operating time.

Thank you in advance if anyone has any suggestions.

I can't really afford a new laptop (time-wise or money-wise) right now.

Oh, one more thing: the programs I run on it take up only 7.11 GB of hard drive space, with Adobe Acrobat being the biggest one at roughly 4.0 GB.

So with so few things on the laptop, and programs taking up only 7.11 GB, I don't understand why a hard drive that's supposedly 220 GB in size is almost full?

Thank you in advance, if anyone has any idea.
