To be fair, the Soviet effort to create socialism/communism ended up becoming a quagmire which was not, in fact socialism…
Hence why fascism is effectively a "mature" take on socialism, recognizing the need for an entity to organize society because socialism doesn't come about organically at scale.
But then the hazards of central planning strike as well as human corruption…
