Ran the numbers from the meteor article fox published using KE=(mv^2)/2 and solved for MASS using the energy and velocity given by Fox.

 

2* (4.184gigajoule * 2100000) / (42km/s)^2 = 9961 metric tons.

 

Near enough to 10k that I’ll just say it looks like someone was dumb enough to pick an arbitrary basis for size that was easy to remember, military, use some random weight instead of fixed weights when you throw stuff from the sky at people, this is too hard not to ignore as a random meteor when it’s 10k not 10.1k

Yeah some retardanon couldn’t math and trashed it with false negative response so I added in bold lettering that it was a calculation of mass not energy to help his little mind understand basics.
