I know it may sound odd but if you take like a compass design so on and put in a circle they could have theoretically travels east and went around the world on a boat. It is roomed that there was more travel so to speak then understood. It is just from so long ago is all.

This looks much like a compass so on in that way believe it or not they did have tools like this in golden age of Greece so to speak.
