The US have bases with big, fragile radar sets. Many of those radar sets have been hit by Iranian rocket barrages. The US government will probably conveniently omit mention of such high-value destruction.

 

The US bases still have fuel and ammo, and still can launch airplanes. Those airplanes might be effective for three more months if they use their fuel and ammo carefully. Thus for three months, regardless of how badly the bases get hit, we can expect the US government to claim that all bases are operating very close to optimal effectiveness.

 

To re-supply those bases with fuel and ammo will be logistically challenging. so after 3 months it might be obvious that those bases are not operating anywhere near full effectiveness.
