The people of the world should dump all oil on those that want it (like on juice nation) and move on with hydrogen. The combustion engines need barely be altered, electrolysis can produce the stuff on the fly, no large changes in infrastructure required. On any 1st and 2nd world national scale it would not take longer than a year to transition to such tech.
