28 Civilians Die in Twin Sudan Drone Strikes on Market and Road

At least 28 civilians were killed in Sudan on Thursday after two separate drone strikes struck a market in Darfur and a road in the Kordofan region, health workers confirmed.
On Wednesday, a strike hit a market in the North Darfur town of Saraf Omra, killing 22 people including an infant and wounding 17 more.
A vendor at the scene, Hamid Suleiman, said the drone struck a parked oil truck, which ignited and set part of the surrounding market ablaze.
Some 800 kilometres east, another drone struck a truck travelling on a North Kordofan road in territory held by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF).
A medical source at the hospital in El-Rahad told AFP that six bodies were received, three of them severely burned, alongside ten wounded.
The victims were travelling between the army-controlled towns of El-Rahad and Um Rawaba. The source blamed the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) for the attack.
Health workers reported the deaths to journalists via satellite internet, the only means available given an ongoing communications blackout across much of the country.
The United Nations says more than 500 civilians were killed in drone strikes between January and mid-March alone, with the Kordofan region accounting for the majority of those deaths.
Repeated UN appeals for restraint have yielded no results, as both the army and the RSF continue near-daily strikes on civilian areas.
The single deadliest recent attack came on 20 March, when strikes hit El Daein Teaching Hospital in East Darfur, killing at least 64 people, including seven women and 13 children, and putting the facility’s emergency, maternity and paediatric units entirely out of service.
The violence has also crossed international borders, with a drone strike on the Chadian border town of Tiné on 18 March killing at least 24 civilians and injuring around 70 others.
The war between the army and the RSF, which began in April 2023 between the two former allied factions, has killed tens of thousands and displaced around 11 million people, creating what the UN describes as the world’s largest hunger and displacement crisis.

Drone show interacts with London Eye for first time ever

One of the UK’s largest ever drone shows has taken place above the Thames, with 500 drones interacting with the London Eye for the first time.
The eight-minute drone show celebrated the launch of HBO Max in the UK and Ireland.
Some of the world’s most iconic TV shows, sports and movies including Harry Potter, Batman, Superman, Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon and The White Lotus were depicted in drone formations 120 metres above the river.
The show began with the wave of a drone wand, depicting Harry Potter’s famous glasses, lightning bolt scar and golden snitch onto the world-famous London Eye.
An enormous, fire-breathing Game of Thrones drone dragon, then illuminated the night sky above London’s Embankment, whilst the House of the Dragon Targaryen Sigil nestled itself perfectly within the London Eye wheel, bringing the River Thames waters sparkling to life beneath.
Soaring above the Thames, the drones transformed the Eye into the blockbuster backdrop for the Superman shield and Batman search light.
A lotus flower blossomed in the sky, representing hit TV series, The White Lotus, before the drones formed an image of the UEFA Champions League trophy alongside a player shooting towards the Eye.
The spectacle, which took programmers 286 hours to design, saw the drones take off and land from a floating platform on the London Eye Pier.
The aerial show culminated with the drones interacting with the London Eye wheel itself, with the world-famous landmark forming the ‘O’ in HBO Max.

An Iranian-backed militia carried out a drone strike on Camp Victory in Iraq, targeting a United States military installation and hitting multiple assets, according to video released on March 24 and open-source analysis.
Footage shows a first-person view (FPV) attack drone striking a parked Black Hawk helicopter within the base perimeter.
Open-source imagery from the incident shows a direct impact on a helicopter identified as part of the Black Hawk family.
The United States military has not publicly confirmed the extent of damage or whether the aircraft was operational at the time of the strike.
An OSINT analyst known as Evergreen Intel suggested the aircraft may have been a medical evacuation variant.
“Noticing they [militia] blurred out a portion of their attack video (green). I think they were trying to hide the fact they attacked a medevac helo.
Note white mark circled in orange,” the analyst wrote, referencing visual markers in the footage.
The analyst compared the markings to publicly available images of CASEVAC and MEDEVAC-configured UH-60 helicopters, indicating the aircraft could be an HH-60M variant used for medical evacuation missions.
According to the U.S. Army, the HH-60M is used across the United States Army to provide Medical Evacuation, Aerial Medical Support, and ambulatory patient transport services to wounded Soldiers.
Camp Victory, located near Baghdad, has historically served as a major United States military hub in Iraq. Installations in the area continue to host U.S. forces and coalition elements supporting regional security operations.
Technically, FPV drones used in such attacks are typically modified commercial or semi-custom platforms equipped with explosive charges.
Operators guide the drone in real time using onboard cameras, allowing for precise targeting of stationary or slow-moving objects.
These drones can be launched from relatively short distances and are difficult to detect due to their small size and low radar signature.
Their use has expanded in recent conflicts due to their low cost and adaptability.

U.S. Battled Drone Incursions Over Key Bases At Home After Launch Of Epic Fury
It remains unclear who is behind the incursions, which have occurred now at two bases in recent weeks, but concern is clearly elevated during a time of war.
Multiple recent drone incursions over U.S. bases housing strategic military assets amplify concerns The War Zone has been documenting for years about highly worrisome drone flights over these installations and critical capabilities.
These incidents, as we’ve noted, present a risk to national and local security.
One of the drone overflights took place earlier this month at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana, home of B-52 Stratofortress bombers and nuclear weapons storage facilities, and a key part of the airborne leg of America’s nuclear triad.
Another was at an unspecified installation last month, the commander of U.S. Northern Command mentioned in recent written testimony for the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC).
Both situations took place after the U.S. began bombing Iran in a campaign that has included B-52, B-1 Lancer and B-2 Spirit bombers.
It is unknown at this point if there is a connection, however, as we have frequently reported, the military is highly concerned about drones operating with near impunity over its facilities.
In addition to interfering with flights and their potential use as weapons, drones can surveil and map the electronic emissions throughout a base, gaining insight into vulnerabilities.
They can also photograph key areas and operations, providing additional valuable intelligence for any adversary.

There’s quite a bit more at the link, and it is an alarming story. To summarize some of the key points:
At Barksdale, swarms of drones were able to repeatedly operate over the base over several days.
They were unable to intercept them or locate the operators.
That the drones made their presence obvious by displaying lights suggests their operators were confident in their ability to operate without being intercepted.
It appeared from signals analysis these were not commercial models and they were resistant to jamming.
There was a successful interception at another base, though details are not being released.
There was an anti-drone system being used — but they only have the one and more have yet to arrive.
It’s possible that this kind of event has been happening undetected for a while without warning systems to spot them until recently.
This goes back to 2023 at least, and has also been happening in bases in Europe.
This statement is not entirely reassuring.

A 25% interception success rate being cited as progress shows how bad things still are. So far, the incursions have not been overtly hostile. Imagine what this portends in a war zone — or just ask Russia.
The vulnerability of B-52’s is of great concern, as they are routinely left parked out in the open. There are only 76 left operating, few in storage that can be restored to operation, and it has been decades since any new ones have been built.
Re-engining them and upgrading their systems is meant to keep them in service for decades to come. They are literally irreplaceable.
Beyond that, the prospect that military bases here in the United States are seeing drone incursions is alarming. Ukraine has repeatedly demonstrated that where drones can reach, military assets are not safe.
Even more alarming is the near certainty that there have been drone incursions that were not detected — and that other critical assets beyond military installations could also be vulnerable, like the power grid.
It’s not reassuring that the Federal Government agencies that should be tracking domestic security threats have dropped everything to maximize deportations and fired people in retaliation for the crime of investigating Trump.
Concerns about sleeper cells are suddenly looking like something that needs more attention. Certainly the recent drone fiascos at the border (this and this) do not inspire confidence that the government has its act together yet.
The nature of military threats and the conduct of war has changed radically in just the space of a few years. Ukraine’s fight with Russia is the harbinger of what future armed conflict will look like.
There are some jobs where being replaced by a robot is not an entirely bad thing. The battlefield has already become a place where humans are increasingly unable to survive let alone operate effectively without careful planning and use of technology.
Drones have come a long way from consumer electronics as flying toys with cameras.

Militants kill soldiers in Nigeria ambush

Armed militants ambushed security forces in Nigeria’s northwestern state of Kebbi, killing at least nine soldiers, a police officer and a civilian, the West African country’s authorities have said.
The troops were responding to a distress call about an impending bandit raid in Shanga area late Tuesday when they were lured into a deadly ambush in Giron Masa village, Kebbi state government spokesman Yahaya Sarki said.
Several other personnel were wounded and a military vehicle was destroyed in the assault, according to a statement released on Wednesday.
State Governor Nasir Idris described the attack as a “very sad and painful development” after visiting the scene.
“This is a great loss not only to the security agencies but to the entire people of Kebbi state,” Idris said during a visit to injured personnel, pledging “maximum support” to security agencies operating in the state.
No group has yet claimed responsibility, but residents and officials have linked recent violence in the area to Lakurawa, an Islamic State-affiliated faction that has expanded operations in Kebbi and the neighboring Sokoto state.
Northwest Nigeria has faced years of attacks by armed bandits involved in mass killings, kidnappings, and cattle rustling.
The attack is the latest incident of escalating violence across Africa’s most populous nation.
The security crisis has persisted despite the US deploying personnel to support training and counterinsurgency efforts, while accusing Abuja of failing to prevent violence against Christian communities.
Last week, 23 people were killed and 108 injured in a series of suspected suicide bomb attacks in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state, which lies at the center of a long-running insurgency by Boko Haram and its rival offshoot, Islamic State West Africa Province.
Days earlier, ten residents of the Christian village of Turan, including two parishioners of the Russian Orthodox Church, were killed in a raid reportedly carried out by Islamist militants.
Last month, more than 160 people were killed in attacks in Kwara state.

Fast-Moving Anomaly Filmed at Loch Ness May be First 'Monster' Sighting of 2026

An intriguing piece of footage from Loch Ness shows a peculiar anomaly moving swiftly across the water, and some believe that the moment could be the year's first on-site sighting of the location's legendary 'monster.'
The compelling video (seen here) was reportedly filmed on the evening of March 1st as witness Sasha Lake was visiting the area from his home in Bath, England.
"I was there with the mystery in mind, of course, but there are so many aspects of Loch Ness that interest me," he explained, "the potential of possibly experiencing something unusual is always in my thoughts, and part of the excitement."
Fortunately for the aptly named Lake, this particular visit proved fruitful as, when he gazed out onto the water from the shore of Loch Ness, he noticed a fast-moving object that left him "incredibly intrigued."
Watching the weird anomaly, the witness marveled that it was so "unusual" and "out of the ordinary" that he immediately thought, "I should film this," which he thankfully did.
After the sighting, Lake recalled, he attempted to come up with an explanation for what he had just observed, but was ultimately left with no answer and the strong suspicion that he "filmed something unknown in Loch Ness."
Alan McKenna of the Loch Ness Exploration research group echoed that possibility, agreeing with Lake that the object's movement was rather interesting.
"There's no animal that we know of in Loch Ness that can reach this speed," he declared, "it's a really intriguing piece of footage. It's mad. There is definitely something there."
Similarly mystified was Shaun Sloggie, who operates a cruise vessel at the popular tourist destination and could not explain what Lake could have filmed that evening earlier this month.
The report is believed to be the first possible on-site glimpse of the famed cryptid this year; however, it has yet to get the nod from the Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register as their first accepted account of 2026.

Burlison also suggested it could relate to something entirely different, reinforcing how unclear the government’s intent remains.
What is alien.gov?
Alien.gov remains inactive for several days after its registration, with no public-facing content or confirmed launch timeline.
It was logged by the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, less than a month after President Donald Trump gave his executive order to release an archive of government UFO files to the public.
The domains are widely expected to relate to UFO or UAP disclosures tied to ongoing government reviews of related files. The registration followed renewed political focus on UAPs, including calls for greater transparency.
However, officials have historically framed UAPs as security concerns, rather than evidence of extraterrestrial life. The use of the word “alien” has drawn attention, diverging from the more cautious term “UAP.”
Burlison even said on the Ask a Pol UAP podcast “it could have something to do with illegal aliens,” deepening the mystery further.
In the days since the registration, online discussion has intensified, with users debating whether the move signals anything substantive.
All bets are off?
Some reactions lean toward skepticism rather than excitement, with Reddit r/UFOs user Astrocoder writing: “It’s going to be an April Fools joke.”
The Redditor also questioned the format of the rollout itself arguing that genuine disclosure would look very different adding that “such an announcement would be a national televised address… not a website.”
Meanwhile, speculation is already shifting direction with user PoppaFlex noting: “You can bet on these world events now.”
When Cybernews looked into it, it appeared that on online gambling platform Duelbits had options whether or not the US will confirm aliens exist before 2027.
Rather than betting on alien contact itself, attention is focused on measurable events such as data releases or official statements.
But despite growing interest, the core issue remains unresolved, and there is still no clear definition of what official “disclosure” would actually mean.

UFO Hunters Claimed This Metal Shard Could Levitate Objects and Was Alien Technology. A Government Lab Has Other Ideas

For decades, the peculiar shard occupied a unique space between fringe speculation and legitimate scientific curiosity.
Its unusual composition and alleged properties, including a supposed capacity for levitation, made it a prized object of fascination for UFO hunters and researchers alike.
The story of how it ended up in a government lab is almost as wild as the claims surrounding it.
The specimen’s path to official scrutiny reads like a fever dream. It passed through the hands of Tom DeLonge’s To the Stars Academy, yes, the Blink-182 frontman who turned UFO research into a second career, before landing with AARO, the All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office, which is the U.S. government body dedicated to investigating unidentified anomalous phenomena. AARO then tasked Oak Ridge National Laboratory, originally established during WWII to research atomic weapons, with conducting a thorough material analysis. The results were recently published.
A Composition That Raised Eyebrows, and Questions
The specimen is a magnesium alloy. According to AARO and Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s published findings, its main components are magnesium and zinc, with bismuth, lead, and other trace elements also present.
That mixture was immediately flagged as unusual, uncommon, in the report’s own words, by today’s manufacturing standards.
Scientists were specifically asked to determine whether the sample could be of extraterrestrial origin and whether its bismuth content might suggest it had once functioned as a terahertz waveguide — a metal object that directs electromagnetic waves emitted by an energy source.
The magnesium’s isotopic signature had undergone some separation of lighter and heavier isotopes, likely the result of heat stress and physical or chemical manufacturing processes. Yet it remained within the normal range for magnesium that forms on Earth.
Further still, the magnesium showed a proportion of isotopes that occurs only within our solar system, a signature that, as the report explains, originates from a particular star-forming region and is therefore unique to each star system.
As for the lead found in the alloy, its isotopic signatures matched those of lead that originates on Earth so precisely that scientists concluded they could not have come from any other body, not even the moon.

The Levitation Theory, Tested and Dismantled
The most eye-catching claim attached to this specimen was the idea that it could, in theory, be capable of inertial mass reduction, levitation, in plain language. That hypothesis rested on the possibility that the object was constructed as a terahertz waveguide.
According to Harvard University theoretical physicist Avi Loeb, who was not involved in the study, “waveguides can only channel radiation for purposes of communication, data collection, or heating — but the conjecture for the UAP was that they were used for levitation.
That would represent a technology unknown to humans.”
For that theory to hold water, the specimen would have needed a single, uncontaminated layer of pure bismuth between layers of the magnesium alloy. Pure bismuth can guide terahertz waves in a way that surpasses standard microwave technology.
The problem is that the bismuth in this sample is neither pure nor arranged in a single layer. There are multiple bismuth layers, and the bismuth itself contains lead, both of which, the report makes clear, would disrupt its ability to function as a waveguide.
Scanning transmission electron microscopy confirmed that the crystalline structure of the magnesium closely resembled that found in alloys manufactured on Earth. No alien technosignatures.
No alien biosignatures either, naturally occurring substances associated with life that scientists also looked for and did not find.
A Terrestrial Object, an Open-Ended Story
According to the joint ORNL and AARO report, the most plausible origin story for this object is rooted in post-WWII materials research.
At the time, magnesium alloys were poorly understood and actively being studied for use in lighter, stronger aircraft, which would make an experimental, oddly composed alloy both historically plausible and entirely of this world.
The report states with a high level of confidence that “all data indicate the material was manufactured terrestrially — albeit using an uncommon mixture of elements by today’s standards — and then incurred damage caused by mechanical and heat stressors.”
That conclusion hasn’t fully satisfied everyone involved.
To the Stars Academy released a statement following the analysis, noting that the reports “do not offer a firm conclusion as to the origin and purpose of the material along with other seeming anomalies,” and signaled that the organization still has more questions.
A meeting between To the Stars scientists and the ORNL team was anticipated. Worth noting: the Roswell incident itself, the supposed UFO wreck to which this specimen has long been connected, was already explained decades ago.
The debris found at the original site turned out to be wreckage from a U.S. Air Force balloon used to spy on Soviet nuclear experiments, not a flying saucer.
This latest analysis, as reported by Popular Mechanics, fits into that same broader pattern: extraordinary claims, methodical science, and a result that closes one door while leaving others conspicuously ajar.

Each is taken from a different angle, but you can see that it has a jellyfish-like shape, with a head or front part and multiple tentacles at the back.
The video went viral on social media and caused a lot of controversy. Some argue that it is an obvious paranormal or extraterrestrial entity, while others point out that it may have been created by video editing or AI.
One witness commented: "The shape changed, sometimes it seemed to disappear, that strange object looked like a jellyfish, it had no clear structure, no sound." Another social media user pointed out, "Isn't it a kite with LEDs?"
