SpaceX and Tesla are developing direct-to-phone satellite connectivity designed to eliminate cellular dead zones, provide emergency services (EBS), and enable direct satellite internet for vehicles and phones. The technology, known as Starlink Direct-to-Cell or "Coverage Above and Beyond," is built to work with existing LTE/5G smartphones rather than requiring special hardware.
Will they test it out on the people of Iran after they take all the comms out?
