FBI director Kash Patel HACKED by Iran as private photos and emails leak online
Published: 10:41 EDT, 27 March 2026
FBI director Kash Patel has been compromised by Iranian-linked hackers, with private emails and photos being published online.
The Handala Hack Team said Patel 'will now find his name among the list of successfully hacked victims.'
Material uploaded by the hackers appears to show a mix of personal and work correspondence dating between 2010 and 2019.
A Justice Department official confirmed that Patel's emails were compromised but did not go into detail.
The FBI did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Handala labels itself pro-Palestinian vigilante hackers, but experts believe it is a persona used by the Iranian government.
The group recently claimed to be behind the hack of Stryker, a Michigan-based medical technologies company.
The hack was viewed as retaliation for US-Israeli strikes against Iranian targets.
This is a breaking news story and will be updated.
