According to an internal memo reviewed by The Daily Wire, the task force begins by telling all the various government agencies involved in the process: “We cannot litigate ourselves out of the fraud problem,” the memo states. “Research findings show over 1,000,000 suspicious Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans and more than 2,000 suspicious durable medical equipment (DME) companies. The federal government simply does not have the resources necessary to recover all of the money lost to fraud once it has been paid out. Many fraudsters are judgment proof and therefore could not pay back the money they stole even after a successful prosecution.”

The memo identifies a handful of “high-spend, low-verification” programs that will be targeted: Medicare and Medicaid ($2 trillion a year in spending), Department of Labor’s Unemployment Insurance ($43.5 billion a year), Department of Agriculture’s SNAP program ($101 billion a year), Health and Human Services’ Temporary Assistance for Needy Families ($16 billion a year), Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Rental Assistance / Public Housing ($64 billion a year), and the Small Business Administration loans and assistance ($104 billion a year). Kash Patel’s push against Democratic lawmaker raises concerns within FBI

Story by Perry Stein • 6h

FBI Director Kash Patel is pressing to release a decade-old investigative file involving Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-California) and a suspected Chinese intelligence operative, recently dispatching agents in the bureau’s San Francisco office to quickly redact the files before they are released publicly despite no evidence of wrongdoing by Swalwell, according to three people familiar with the effort.

The potential release is part of the Trump administration’s aggressive push to investigate Swalwell, a vocal critic of President Donald Trump and a leading Democratic candidate for California governor, according to the people familiar with the effort. It is highly unusual for the FBI to release case files tied to a probe that did not result in criminal charges.

As FBI director, Patel has focused on trying to bring a criminal case against the outspoken Democrat, reassigning multiple agents in San Francisco to work on the matter, the current and former officials said. FBI leaders have even discussed sending agents to China to talk to the suspected intelligence operative, believing she could have damaging information about Swalwell, according to two of the people familiar with the investigation. The people familiar with the matter spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss an investigation that has not been made public.

The Chinese woman at issue is Christine Fang, also known as Fang Fang, who reportedly courted Swalwell and other California politicians in the United States from 2011 to 2015. She helped with fundraising for Swalwell’s 2014 reelection campaign and even helped place an intern in his congressional office. When federal agents conveyed their concerns about Fang to Swalwell around 2015, he reportedly cut off ties with her and said he helped investigators.

Swalwell was not accused of any wrongdoing when the FBI investigated his relationship with Fang a decade ago. In 2023, the Republican-led House Ethics Committee closed a two-year investigation into the congressman, deciding to “take no further action.”

Despite that, FBI leaders have recently suggested in internal discussions that the government could try to arrange for Fang to get a U.S. visa in exchange for speaking with FBI agents about the Democrat, according to the three people with knowledge of Patel’s efforts. It would be highly unorthodox to grant a visa to a person suspected of being an intelligence agent for a foreign superpower.

An FBI spokesperson disputed any notion of improper motives. “The contentions in this story are incorrect,” the spokesperson said. “This FBI, being the most transparent in history, prepares documents for numerous different reasons, including for release to different agencies and departments to further review investigations that may have been opened under previous administrations.”

The push to publicly release the investigative files, the people interviewed said, suggests that the FBI has struggled to so far to build a criminal case against Swalwell. Even if there is no incriminating evidence in the files, an extensive case file could contain revealing and personal details about Swalwell and his campaign operations.

The lengths that Patel’s circle is going to in the bid to pursue a political foe of the president has raised alarms within the bureau, where some officials fear that releasing the files — even with redactions — could compromise law enforcement sources and investigatory methods, making it harder for the FBI to gain trust with potential witnesses.

They also said they feared the repercussions of sending agents to the territory of an adversarial nation to dig up information on a sitting congressman. Such an interview, legal experts said, would be impossible without Chinese interference, and Fang would be considered an unreliable witness.

“Most troubling about this is that we are now literally at war. We also face threats against the homeland,” Swalwell said in a statement to The Washington Post. “Kash Patel should be spending every moment trying to keep us safe, not scoring political points. A lot of people have bent the knee to this administration. But I will not, and neither will the people of California.”

(If one American had done all the illegal things he’s done, we’d be in jail for years now. The courts are complicit)

Russia took satellite images of U.S. air base in days before Iranian attack, Ukraine's Zelenskyy says

Volodymyr Zelenskyy told NBC News it would be a "mistake" if American-made missile interceptors bound for Ukraine were diverted to Gulf countries being attacked by Iran

(1/3) (why are they listening to this liar)

DOHA, Qatar —Russia took satellite images of a U.S. air base in Saudi Arabia three times in the days before Iran attacked the site and wounded American troops, according to a summary of Ukrainian intelligence shared with NBC News by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

In an interview in the Gulf nation of Qatar on Saturday,Zelenskyy said he was “100%” confident Russia was sharing such intelligence with Iran to help target U.S. forcesacross the Middle East.

“I think that it’s in Russia’s interest to help Iranians. And I don’t believe — I know — that they share information,” he said. “Do they help Iranians? Of course. How many percent? One-hundred percent.”

During the interview, Zelenskyy shared a summary of the daily presidential briefing he receives from Ukraine’s spy agencies. The report stated that Russian satellites had taken images of the Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia on March 20, March 23 and March 25. (Why would he know this before the US knew it? That wouldn’t!)

On March 26, Iran attacked the base, which hosts U.S. forces as well as Saudi troops. The strike wounded a number of American service members, two U.S. officials said Friday, though none of the injuries were considered life-threatening.

Zelenskyy said that based on Ukraine’s experience,Russia’s repeated photographing of installations over several days is an indication of attack planning.(which Ukraine was doing the same.)

“We know that if they make images once, they are preparing. If they make images a second time, it’s like a simulation. The third time it means that in one or two days, they will attack,” he said. The briefing did not include evidence of the Russian satellite imagery or specify how Ukraine became aware of it, and NBC News was unable to verify its accuracy.

NBC News reported earlier this month that Russia was providing intelligence to Iran on the location of U.S. forces in the Middle East, citing four sources with knowledge of the matter.Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov denied providing Tehran with intelligence in an interview with French media on Thursday, though he said Moscow has sent military equipment to Iran under their long-standing military alliance.

Zelenskyy toured the Gulf states this week seeking to seal deals providing Ukraine’s battle-tested air defense technologies to nations under fire from Iranian missiles and drones.

“I hope so,” he said. “You know the policy of the United States today. They care about the United States more. It’s understandable, by the way. We understand it and I think that the American team is very open about it.”

He said defense agreements had been signed with Saudi Arabia and Qatarin which Ukraine would provide technical know-how in exchange for “billions” of dollars of investment in Ukrainian defense industries.“They recognize our expertise,” he added. Iran’s low-cost Shahed drones, among the key weapons used to attack Tehran’s neighbors, have been deployed by Russia across its four-year war with Ukraine.

The U.S.-Israeli war with Iranhas created enormous demand for American-made missile interceptors among U.S. allies in the Middle East, with stockpiles draining after a month of daily attacks from Iran.

Zelenskyy said he was concerned that the conflict could lead to U.S. weapons being diverted from Ukraine to the Middle East, but that so far there had been no disruption in scheduled deliveries to Kyiv.

“I’m very worried. I hope that the United States will not make such mistakes,” he said, adding that weapon flows from Western allies were critical to his country’s defense against Russia.

Zelenskyy said he believed Russian President Vladimir Putin was hoping for a “long war in the Middle East.”

“[Putin] has benefits, a lot of benefits, of this war,” he said, pointing to higher oil prices and the temporary lifting of some U.S. sanctions on Russian oil, which mean more revenue for the Kremlin. “If sanctions are lifted, [Putin] will get more money, much more money, and he will put this money to weapons.”

(3/3)

While U.S. efforts to broker a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia appeared largely stalled before the war in Iran, Zelenskyy said the new conflict in the Middle East had slowed diplomacy even further.

He said he had been told the U.S. mediation team — led by Steve Witkoff, President Donald Trump’s special envoy, and Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law —were not able to conduct negotiations in a neutral venue outside the United States during the Iran war.

The U.S. team had offered to host trilateral negotiations on American soil but the Russian side was unwilling to do so, Zelenskyy said, though Kremlin envoy Kirill Dmitriev has traveled to Florida for past talks with his U.S. counterparts. He added that Ukraine was prepared to meet at any time in any venue except Russia and suggested Turkey or Switzerland as possibilities.

“We will never be the side who is blocking or delaying or postponing, etc. And that’s why we are ready to meet everywhere except Russia and Belarus — they are allies and they are enemies,” he said.

Asked whether he believed Trump cared about the future of Ukraine, Zelenskyy paused for a moment.

“I hope so,” he said. “You know the policy of the United States today. They care about the United States more. It’s understandable, by the way. We understand it and I think that the American team is very open about it.”

Loud explosions rock Irbil as some attacks target US sites

BY SALLY ABOU ALJOUD

For hours, interceptions and drone activity were heard overnight Saturday across Irbil, the capital of the semi-autonomous Kurdish region in northern Iraq, including drones shot down while attempting to target the U.S. consulate and nearby bases.

AP journalists in the area reported non-stop loud explosions and saw at least one drone headed toward American facilities, in one of the most intense days of attacks since the war began.

Iran-aligned militias in Iraq have stepped up repeated drone and missile attacks on U.S. bases, including in Irbil, since the start of the war.

In a statement Saturday, the U.S. condemned what it called “despicable terrorist attacks” by Iran’s militant groups, saying the strikes on Kurdish regional President Nechirvan Barzani’s residence in Irbil earlier that day were “a direct assault on Iraq’s sovereignty, stability and unity.”

The attack caused material damage but no casualties, and the residence was empty at the time.

Houthis say they launched second missile attack on Israel

BY FAY ABUELGASIM, MELANIE LIDMAN

Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree, a military spokesman for Yemen’s Houthis, issued the claim in a prerecorded statement aired by the group’s Al-Masirah satellite television.

The Iranian-backed Houthi rebels targeted multiple sites in southern Israel to coincide with attacks from Iran and Hezbollah, Saree said, without identifying the locations.

The launch came hours after the Houthis’ first missile attack against Israel in the war began a month ago.

Israel said it intercepted the first missile. It did not immediately comment on whether it intercepted any projectiles from Yemen in the second attack.

“We have been prepared for the Houthis to join this from the beginning,” Israeli military spokesman Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin said.

Strike on U.S. Base in Saudi Arabia Injures 12 American Troops, 2 Seriously, Officials Say. NYT’s

The combined missile and drone attack amounted to one of the most serious breaches of American air defenses in the course ofthe monthlong war with Iran.

(They make it sound like a monthlong war is the longest of all time.)

An Iranian strike injured 12 U.S. troops in Saudi Arabia, two of them seriously, in an attack on Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia, two U.S. officials, who were not authorized to speak publicly, said on Friday.

The combined missile and drone attack amounted to one of the most serious breaches of American air defenses in the course of the monthlong war with Iran. At least two KC-135 aerial refueling planes also suffered significant damage in the attack.

The strike comes as President Trump has vacillated between promising peace and escalating strikes aimed at critical civilian infrastructure. The president has said that peace talks are underway, and going well — a claim that Iranian officials have disputed — even as more warships and thousands of troops have been deployed to reinforce U.S. forces in the region.

Iran has bombed U.S. bases across the Middle East over the course of the war, deploying a vast arsenal of ballistic missiles and drones in an effort to retaliate and disrupt the American bombing campaign. The barrage has severely damaged bases and forced U.S. Central Command to disperse thousands of troops to move them out of the line of fire — some to as far away as Europe.

Most Iranian strikes have been intercepted by U.S. and allied air defenses, but weapons like Iran’s Shahed drones are cheap and disposable, and many of the defensive systems used to intercept them are more sophisticated and harder to replace.

U.S. troops have also been injured, and some killed, in incidents where Iranian attacks have overwhelmed those defense networks. Six U.S. Army reservists were killed at the start of the war in an Iranian drone strike that destroyed an Army tactical operations center at Shuaiba port in Kuwait. Another American service member died after an attack at the Prince Sultan base on March 1.

Nearly 300 American troops have been injured since the start of the war, about 225 of whom suffered traumatic brain injuries from missile blasts, according to U.S. Central Command. All but about 35 service members have since returned to duty….

IRGC rhetoric frames US island assault as chance to capture troops

Behrouz Turani

Behrouz Turani

Iran International

Mar 26, 2026, 02:29

Some Tehran commentators sayany US attempt to seize Iranian islands in the Persian Gulf could play directly into the IRGC’s long-standing strategy of capturing American troops for leverage.

Much of the commentary in Iranian media and political circles frames such a scenario as an opportunity rather than a risk for Tehran, arguing that deploying US forces on Iranian territory would expose them to capture by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and potentially inflict a political humiliation on Washington.

The idea has deep roots in Iran’s political rhetoric. Mohsen Rezai, the former IRGC commander who once floated the proposal of capturing US troops and demanding large sums for their release, now serves as a senior military adviser to Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei.

Former IRGC commander Hossein Kanani Moghaddam said last week that one scenario allegedly considered by the United States involved focusing on Iran’s southern islands and attempting to seize them to gain control over Persian Gulf oil routes.

“If Trump were to deploy air and naval forces along with Delta Force commandos in a ground operation, the battlefield would shift entirely in our favor,” Kanani Moghaddam said. “By killing or capturing American soldiers, we could raise the level of US losses to a point where they would quickly regret their actions.”

He added that such losses could trigger a political backlash in Washington and even lead to impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump.

The prospect of an occupation of an Iranian island has also been linked in Iranian commentary to the broader diplomatic standoff between Tehran and Washington.

Despite Trump’s references to “constructive negotiations,” Iranian officials argue that US military threats undermine any possibility of diplomacy.

On March 25, Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said Iran had already experienced “two catastrophic examples” of trusting US diplomacy. “Over the past nine months, the United States has attacked Iran twice in the middle of negotiations,” he said. “This was a betrayal of diplomacy.”

In a March 23 interview with the Iranian outlet Fararu, Jalal Sadatian, Iran’s former chief diplomat in London, said Trump could not simultaneously threaten military action against Iranian territory while expecting Tehran to accept ceasefire proposals.

Sadatian also warned that Iranian retaliation could expand beyond direct confrontation with US forces. He pointed to the IRGC’s earlier warnings that electricity-generation facilities and desalination plants in regional countries could be targeted if Iran’s own critical infrastructure were attacked.

According to Sadatian,Tehran had long warned that any attack on Iran would trigger a broader regional war. He argued that Washington underestimated Iran’s willingness and ability to strike US bases across the region.
