Longtime Washington County Sheriff Nate Brooksby has officially stepped down after more than three decades in law enforcement, just months after playing a central role in the high-profile surrender of the man accused of assassinating conservative hero Charlie Kirk.

According to KUTV, Brooksby quietly submitted his resignation last Friday, with county officials confirming his departure and thanking him for his service.

“We express our sincere appreciation for his dedication and service to Washington County,” the county said in a statement.

According to ABC4, Brooksby met with county commissioners on Friday to discuss vague “complaints” about office operations. Hours later, he resigned on the spot.

The news outlet added that “the individuals who made the complaints against the Sheriff’s Office have requested that no further action be taken, a request that is being respected.”

A Pakistani Christian is awaiting a possible death sentence after allegedly downloading “blasphemous material” on social media.

Ishtiaq Saleem, 34, is a father and a sanitation worker from Islamabad. He was arrested in November 2022 for allegedly downloading the material, and has languished in prison as his case proceeds, according to a March 10 release from ADF International.

The legal advocacy group said that Saleem fell victim to the “Blasphemy Business Group” — a network accused of “fabricating blasphemy accusations to entrap individuals for the purpose of blackmail and extortion.”

The entity reportedly works with Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency to pin blasphemy charges on Christians and other religious minorities.

15-Year-Old Male Student Fatally Shoots Himself After Shooting Teacher at Preparatory High School in Texas

A 15-year-old male student is dead after shooting his teacher at a preparatory high school in Comal County, Texas, on Monday.

The teacher was transported to a local San Antonio hospital.

According to the Associated Press, the student fatally shot himself after he shot his teacher on campus at Hill Country College Preparatory High School.

The school is currently on lockdown.

Law enforcement said there is no ongoing threat to the students or staff at the school.

Circumstances that led up to the shooting are unclear.

The FBI is aware of the shooting and assisting local law enforcement.

President Trump on Tuesday suggested that he will withdraw troops from the Middle East and force Europe, Asia, and the Gulf nations to deal with Iran’s blockade on the Strait of Hormuz after they refused his calls for help.

President Trump previously asked NATO and Asia for help securing the Strait, but they refused.

“The U.S.A. won’t be there to help you anymore, just like you weren’t there for us,” Trump said in a statement on Monday, offering to supply oil from the United States if the countries cannot “build up some delayed courage, go to the Strait, and just TAKE IT.”

He added. “Iran has been, essentially, decimated. The hard part is done. Go get your own oil!”

This comes amid reporting that Trump is ready to end the war regardless of security in the waterway.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump told aides he may end the war with Iran without reopening the Strait as his timeline for the war of four to six weeks approaches its end.

His plan would then be to leave it for Europe and the Gulf states, who are heavily dependent on the flow of oil through the Strait, unlike the US, to deal with it.
