Denver Imposes Water Restrictions, Orders Restaurants To Serve Only On Request

Restaurants in Colorado’s capital are only allowed to serve water to guests if they ask, according to new restrictions by the Denver Board of Water Commissioners.

“Restaurants and catering businesses shall serve water only upon request,” the mandatory irrigation restrictions read.

The rules were issued in the Mile High City after the commissioners declared a Stage 1 Drought and made plans to seek a 20 percent reduction in water use. City officials expect drought conditions to last until April 30, 2027.

The update will affect many businesses, including the hospitality industry.

“Lodging establishments shall not change sheets more often than every four days for guests staying more than one night, except for health or safety reasons or upon express request of guests,” the Denver Board of Water Commissioners stated.

Drivers who attempt to wash their car are told to use a bucket or a hand-held hose equipped with an automatic shut-off nozzle if they don’t use a commercial car wash.

Residents can water their grass only two days per week, according to the schedule provided by city officials, but it is prohibited between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., when the sun is up.

“Current conditions indicate that this is going to be an exceptionally challenging year for our water supply,” Nathan Elder, manager of water supply for Denver, said at a Denver Board of Water Commissioners meeting.

“Snow pack levels are at historic lows and are melting earlier and more rapidly than normal.”

Dutch Treasury Banking Portal Goes Dark For 1,600 Public Institutions After Cyberattack

The Dutch Finance Ministry informed members of Parliament in a letter on Monday about "unauthorized access" to several of its banking systems, including the digital portal for treasury banking.

"Because of the ongoing forensic investigation and for security reasons, several systems have been temporarily taken offline, including the digital portal for treasury banking," Finance Minister Eelco Heinen wrote in the letter.

Heinen warned that the cyberattack has resulted in "around 1,600 public institutions that hold their funds with the Ministry of Finance" being "currently unable to view the balance of their treasury accounts digitally."

He continued, "Participants in treasury banking include, among others, ministries, agencies, legal entities with a statutory task, educational institutions, social funds, and decentralized governments."

"It is also temporarily not possible for participants to apply for loans, deposits, or credit facilities through the portal, change the intraday limit, or generate reports," Heinen warned.

Heinen admitted, "At this time, it is not yet known how long this situation will last."

Tehran believes the United Arab Emirates is playing an active role in the US-Israeli war on Iran and any ground invasion could lead to widespread attacks on Emirati state assets, two senior Iranian sources told Middle East Eye. A month into the conflict, which has battered global markets, Donald Trump is weighing whether to use ground troops to seize strategic islands in the Strait of Hormuz in an attempt to stop Iran from disrupting energy supplies.

Attention has particularly focused on Kharg Island, the hub through which roughly 90 percent of Iran’s oil exports flow, and Qashm Island which overlooks the strait. Such an operation would probably be launched from US bases in Gulf Arab states, which have come under Iranian attack in retaliation for US-Israeli strikes on Iran, which have killed at least 1,900 people so far.

Anti-Iranian sentiment has grown in Arab Gulf states, where retaliatory strikes have hit various targets, including key energy infrastructure. Combative rhetoric has particularly come from the close Israeli ally the UAE, whose ambassador to the US wrote a column in the Wall Street Journal this week saying a ceasefire would not be “enough” and the belligerents should push for a “conclusive outcome” that “addresses Iran’s full range of threats”.

The WSJ even reported that some Gulf Arab states were considering joining the US-Israeli attacks on Iran. However, according to a senior Iranian security official, leaders in Tehran now believe the UAE has played an active role in the war from the very beginning.

According to the official, the Iranian leadership has “decided to end a weeks-long period of tolerance towards Abu Dhabi, after concluding that the Emirati role went beyond simply hosting US military facilities already hit in Iranian retaliatory attacks”.

The official said: “Iranian intelligence believes the UAE also made some of its own air facilities available for operations against Iran.”

Abu Dhabi has served as an advanced platform for Israeli interests in the region, the official said. He suggested this included “deception operations” - false-flag Israeli attacks on Oman and at least one other country intended to look like Iranian ones.

The Iranian military denied on Monday being behind the recent attack which hit a desalination plant in Kuwait, labeling the strike a US-Israeli false-flag operation aimed at "destabilizing and destroying the region."

"The brutal aggression by the Zionist regime against the desalination facility in Kuwait, carried out in recent hours under the pretext of accusing the Islamic Republic of Iran, is a sign of the vileness and depravity of the Zionist occupiers," the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters of the Iranian army said in a statement.

"We declare that US bases, personnel, and their interests in the region, as well as the military, security, and economic infrastructure of the Zionist regime in the occupied Palestinian territories, remain powerful targets for us," it added.

The Iranian military went on to urge "countries of West Asia must remain vigilant against the sedition of the US–Zionist axis aimed at destabilizing and destroying the region."

Regional states "must put an end to the presence of the criminal US army and occupying Zionists in the region," it stressed. The attack on the desalination plant took place on Sunday.

"A service building at a power and water desalination plant was attacked as part of the Iranian aggression against the State of Kuwait, resulting in the death of an Indian worker and significant material damage to the building," said a spokesperson for the Kuwaiti Electricity Ministry.

This is not the first attack Tehran has labeled a false flag. Iran has also denied recent strikes on fuel tankers in Oman and a refinery in Iraq's Erbil, as well as one that targeted an Aramco facility in Saudi Arabia at the start of the month.

Large Michigan Solar Projects Can Now Bypass Township Permit Denials. 122 of 148 Lawmakers Took Utility Money

One of Michigan’s electric utilities, Consumers Energy, announced plans to build up to 9,000 megawatts of solar power on 209,000 acres of farmland. The total size of these solar projects is about 326 square miles. That’s about 2.5 times the size of Detroit itself.

Nearly all these costs get added to citizens’ electric bills. Recognizing this would likely create opposition within townships, Democrat politicians in Michigan passed Public Act 233. It overrides a township if they deny a solar or wind farm permit.

For decades, Michigan’s 1,773 local township governments had the authority to decide whether a large solar farm could be built in their communities. In late November of 2023, Public Act 233 was signed into law. Larger solar (>50MW) and wind (>100MW) projects can now skip the voices of local residents. They now have almost no say in some of Michigan’s biggest industrial projects.

If the local jurisdiction denies the solar application, takes too long, or imposes excessive rules, the developer can bypass the township entirely. They can apply directly to the 3 person Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) for approval. All 3 commissioners are appointed by Democrat governor Gretchen Whitmer. In some cases, these developers can bypass townships from the onset.

PA 233 was introduced by MI House of Representatives Abraham Aiyash (D), a top Muslim lawmaker from the Detroit area. Every Democrat voted in favor of the bill, every Republican against (20-18). Like fascists, the MI Democrats took oversight from these small townships and gave it to MPSC. Democrats also control MPSC, which determines how much the two utility companies can charge their MI customers (Consumers Energy, DTE Energy).

Migrant Households Are Claiming £1 Billion a MONTH in UK Welfare Benefits.

Foreign nationals are claiming close to £1 billion (~$1.3 billion) in welfare payments from the British government each month, according to the latest Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) figures. The data, released in response to Freedom of Information requests from Conservative (Tory) Member of Parliament (MP) Neil O’Brien, shows that households containing at least one foreign national received £941 million in Universal Credit payments this month.

Universal Credit, which supports low-income working-age families, is available to migrants who hold Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR)—roughly equivalent to permanent residency in the U.S.—or refugee status. Over the last four years, the total value of claims from households with a migrant has more than doubled, climbing from £461 million in March 2019 to almost £1 billion now. The figure rose by nearly 30 per cent in the past 12 months alone.

Neil O’Brien criticized the trend, saying: “The growth of benefit spending and the rate of migration are both much too fast, and the Government is doing far too little to change either trend. Migrants know that if they can make it to the UK, they will be allowed to stay. As long as that is true, we’ll see more and more coming. Our soft-touch welfare state makes this worse.”

For many voters in the United Kingdom, that the government doesn’t bomb Muslim countries is a primary concern at the ballot box, and several Labour Party MPs are privately concerned they stand to lose their seats to single-issue sectarian parties.

Promising his government wouldn’t engage in the joint American-Israeli attempt to reduce Iran’s capacity to hold the global economy to ransom, Sir Keir said in Wolverhampton on Monday that he wouldn’t change his mind “whatever the pressure and whoever it’s coming from”. He said:

Knesset passes law mandating death penalty for West Bank Palestinians convicted of terrorism

The Knesset votes 62-48 to pass a controversial law mandating the death penalty for West Bank Palestinians convicted of “acts of terror.”

The vote is a major victory for far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir’s Otzma Yehudit party, which has long lobbied for the measure. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu voted for the bill.

“This is a day of justice for the victims and a day of deterrence for our enemies. No more revolving door for terrorists, but a clear decision. Whoever chooses terrorism chooses death,” says Ben Gvir in a statement.

The law, approved after nearly 12 hours of debate, mandates death by hanging as the default punishment for West Bank residents convicted of terrorist acts by military courts.

The law effectively enshrines capital punishment for Palestinians alone, as it explicitly excludes Israeli citizens or residents, and Palestinians alone are tried in military courts. Israelis are tried in civilian courts.

Though a separate provision allows courts to impose the death penalty on anyone, including Israeli citizens, it applies only to those who “intentionally cause the death of a person with the aim of denying the existence of the State of Israel” — a definition that in practice excludes Jewish terrorists.

White House says it reached out to Israel over barring of Catholic leaders from Church of Holy Sepulchre

The White House confirms that it reached out to Israel to express its concern over the Israel Police’s decision to block two top Catholic officials from praying at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre on Palm Sunday yesterday.

The officials who were barred were the Latin patriarch of Jerusalem, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, and Father Francesco Ielpo, custos of the Holy Land.

“We did express our concerns with Israel with respect to these holy sites being shut down,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt says during a briefing.

Hours earlier, Catholic officials in Jerusalem announced that prayer arrangements for Holy Week, which culminates with Easter on Sunday, April 5, had been resolved with Israeli authorities, ending a diplomatic spat over the issue.

“We want worshipers to be able to access these holy sites. Of course, safety is a top priority, but we understand Israel is working on the security measures to reopen the sites throughout Holy Week, and that’s something that we’re appreciative of,” she adds.

UAE sees biggest aerial blitz in three weeks as 'huge' explosions ring out over Dubai in overnight air defence interception

A new barrage of Iranian strikes were launched at the UAE on Monday as authorities in Dubai said reports of explosions across parts of the city were the result of 'successful air defence operations.'

As the Gulf state continues to censor photos and information about Iranian attacks to maintain a facade of safety, people quickly turned to social media to thank the Emirati defence system.

One person wrote on X: 'It was a huge sound… everyone is terrified here. We thought it's a missile sound but thanks Allah it was interception.'

Another added: 'That's the loudest I have heard since this all started. Thank you defense team. May God continue to bless you guys as you work hard to keep us safe. Trust government sources only guys.'

Dubai's Media Office wrote on X: 'Authorities in Dubai confirm that the sounds heard across parts of the city were the result of successful air defence interception operations. Please rely on official sources for updates.'

This comes as hundreds of people have been arrested in the UAE for taking photos and videos of drone and missile attacks.

These include a large number of Britons, who have been targeted in prison, according to human rights lawyers.

Hezbollah Destroy More Tanks And Israeli Army Acknowledges More Casualties

Hezbollah on March 30 shared footage showing its fighters targeting more main battle tanks in southern Lebanon, as the advance of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) slowed down.

A total of three Merkava tanks can be seen getting hit with anti-tank guided missiles (ATGM) in the footage, taken in the area of Khalat Imai near the town of Debl in the central sector of southern Lebanon four days earlier. Hezbollah fighters apparently used thermal imagers to detect the tanks, then engaged them using Russian-made Kornet missiles, or the Iranian copy of the system known as Dehlavieh.

Syria’s military said on March 30 that a large-scale drone attack targeted its bases near the border with Iraq, vowing to respond.

In a statement, the military reported “a large-scale attack by a number of drones targeting several army bases near the Iraqi border at dawn today,” saying that most of the drones were intercepted.

“We are studying our options and will respond appropriately to neutralize any threat and prevent any aggression against Syrian territory,” it added in a statement carried by the state-run SANA news agency.

Following the attack, the military deployed large reinforcements, including rocket launchers and drone units, along the border with Iraq, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The London-based monitoring group noted that many of the troops sent there are foreign jihadists, and said that a Tribal mobilization was ongoing.

Assistant defense minister for eastern Syria, Sipan Hamo, said a day earlier that four drones from Iraq attacked a United States base near the town of Qasrak in the governorate of al-Hasakah, but were intercepted.

“We hold Iraq responsible and call upon it to prevent the recurrence of attacks that threaten our stability,” Hamo said in a post to X.

The day before, Syria’s army said it repelled another drone attack from Iraq targeting al-Tanf in the governorate of Rif Dimashq, a base which used to house U.S. forces.

Another base in eastern Syria was targeted with rockets last week. An Iraqi official said an Iraqi faction was behind the attack, and four people were arrested in connection with it.

“As alleged, Jonathan Spalletta repeatedly hacked smart contracts to steal millions of dollars’ worth of other people’s money for himself, and destroyed a cryptocurrency exchange in the process,” said U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton. “In describing his alleged ‘heist,’ Spalletta told another individual ‘Crypto is just fake internet money anyway.’ Stealing from a crypto exchange is stealing—the claim that ‘crypto is different’ does not change that. For the victims, there is nothing different about having your money taken. Spalletta cost real victims real losses of tens of millions of dollars, and now he’s under real arrest.”

Former Newport News firefighter pleads guilty to sexually abusing an infant and distributing videos of the abuse

NORFOLK, Va. – A Suffolk man pled guilty on March 25 to production of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and coercion of a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity.

According to court documents, beginning in October 2024, Alex Tyler Buenaga, 32, began sexually assaulting a three-month-old infant, filming the abuse, and distributing the resultant CSAM online. Buenaga invited others, including Ryan Wade Johnston, 45, of Virginia Beach, to his residence to participate in the sexual abuse and smoke methamphetamine. Buenaga, a former Newport News firefighter, recorded himself sexually abusing the infant over 90 times and on at least one occasion, recorded himself blowing methamphetamine smoke in the infant’s face.

On Jan. 24, 2025, in response to an emergency tip that a user of the Telegram instant messaging application was producing and distributing CSAM, agents with the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force located and proceeded to Buenaga’s residence. Buenaga and Johnston were arrested before they could inflict additional abuse on the infant.

Buenaga is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 22 and faces a mandatory minimum of 15 years and up to life plus 60 years in prison. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

Johnston is charged with production of CSAM, receipt of CSAM, coercion and enticement of a minor, and possession of CSAM. A bench trial for Johnston is scheduled for June 15.

The FBI’s Norfolk Field Office investigated this case.
