After much reflection, and after it became clear to me that some UN seniors are serving a powerful lobby and not the UN, I have decided to suspend all my duties as PVA Main Representative at the UN and from all UN committees/groups of which I am a member.
I cannot in good conscience be part of or witness to what is happening at a time when the UN is preparing for possible nuclear weapon use.
It has been an honor cooperating with the UN for nearly 12 years under different Secretaries-General and Human Rights Council Presidents, leading PVA delegation.

The attempt by Israeli state to militarily preempt Iran with the full support of U.S. President Donald Trump (whose father was Jewish) is an appalling farce that has backfired with probable damage to its main nuclear reactor at Dimona. Thousands of Israeli Jews have departed after spending months in underground bunkers since the destruction of Palestinian communities throughout the Gaza Strip. The brutally vindictive policy has been "Ten Eyes for an Eye" - unacceptable to any religious tradition, especially among the three major faiths of the region - Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Here I make the beginning of a plea for Christian intervention against the crazed Israeli leadership and its wilting state with the longer-term aim of restoring the Holy Land for believers and followers of the those three religions.
My early childhood dreams were of being a medieval Christian knight on horseback in the quest for recovery of the Holy Land. That was before enrollment in Holy Names academy – run by strict nuns – in Los Angeles and my early teen years at the Marist School in Kobe, Japan. My father’s Protestant church through Sunday school lessons provided the inspiration for that imaginary journey to the land of Jesus and his disciples and, of course, much earlier the sighting by Moses of the Promised Land, which was achieved by his warrior disciple Joshua. However faraway, the biblical accounts filtered through our French, German, Spanish and Basque teachers provided with a European medieval perspective centered on the 9 major crusades along with many lesser attempts to recover the Holy Land – or at least some part of the sacred ground - from Islamic control.
Whatever one’s religious affiliation the Crusades were clearly a bold, brave and titanic effort – and often cruel, partisan and biased - campaign to restore the sacredness of the Promised Land or land of milk and honey, have you will, accessible to all pilgrims. Taken a long step further into the modern industrial era, the sacrifices of the Crusades reinforced the notion that the Holy Land should be a place of worship to all believers in the faith – Christians yes, even descendants of the awful Romans, Muslims in peace, and Jews, well, those who did not rejoice at the Crucifixion. Begrudging, yes, Christianity nowadays has an openness to the notion of a shared Holy Land with special sites of interest to each branch of monotheism rooted in that history.
One of my favorite accounts of Holy Land the modern era is T.E. Lawrence’s “The Seven Pillars of Wisdom”, which describes his adventures as a British officer and adviser to the Arab Rebellion against Turkish rule and German occupation of Palestine in World War I. The brutality of that struggle for regional independence remains the textbook for primitive guerrilla warfare against a technological modern foe. Notably in a very short passage, Lawrence mentioned Lord Rothschild as a new factor in the struggle for Palestine – without a howl of drama, prediction or premonition of the imposition of a racist bigoted religious authority over the Holy Land also of Christians and Islamists.

Former congressional staffer pleads guilty to using access to Congressperson’s bank account to pay her own credit card bills
An Alexandria woman pled guilty today to wire fraud after misusing the financial information of her former employer, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
According to court documents, Courtney Melissa Hruska, 40, was employed on the member’s staff from August 2015 to January 2022. To fulfill part of Hruska’s official duties and responsibilities, the member entrusted Hruska with the member’s personal credit card and bank account information. On Jan. 30, 2022, Hruska left the office for a new position with a federal agency.
Without authorization, Hruska retained the member’s personal credit card and bank account information. Between Aug. 19, 2023, and July 30, 2024, Hruska used the member’s bank account information to make payments towards the balance of Hruska’s own personal credit card bills on 10 separate occasions. The member did not use electronic banking and did not receive immediate alerts from the bank. Because more than a year had lapsed between Hruska’s first fraudulent transaction and the member’s discovery of the theft, the member recovered less than nine percent of the stolen funds in fraud compensation.
In total, Hruska caused a loss to the Representative of at least $22,865.07.
Hruska is scheduled to be sentenced on June 23 and faces up to 20 years in prison. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – On March 17, 2026, a federal grand jury in the District of Puerto Rico returned an indictment charging 52 gang members from the municipalities of San Juan, Morovis, and Cataño with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, possession and distribution of controlled substances, and firearms violations, announced W. Stephen Muldrow, United States Attorney for the District of Puerto Rico. This investigation was led by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Puerto Rico Police Bureau (PRPB) San Juan Strike Force, with the collaboration of Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations (OFO) and Air and Marine Operations (AMO), the U.S. Marshals Service, the U.S. Border Patrol, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). “Thanks to the great investigative work of our law enforcement partners and prosecutors, the important leaders, enforcers and other members of the violent gang are being taken off our streets,” said U.S. Attorney Muldrow. “These arrests reflect our steadfast determination to remove violent gangs from our communities.”

The indictment alleges that from 2018 to the present, the drug trafficking organization distributed cocaine, marijuana, heroin, and fentanyl within 1,000 feet of the Los Lirios (San Juan), Jardines de Cataño (Cataño), Juana Matos (Cataño), El Coquí (Cataño), and Nemesio Rosario Canales (San Juan) Public Housing Projects (PHPs), and areas near those locations, all for significant financial gain and profit.

Russian military transport plane crashes in Crimea
Six crew members and 23 passengers were killed, the Defense Ministry said
A Russian An-26 military transport plane crashed in Crimea on Tuesday evening, killing all 29 people on board, the Defense Ministry said.
According to the MOD, communication with the aircraft was lost at around 6 p.m. local time during a “routine flight” over the strategic Black Sea peninsula.
The Defense Ministry said there were “no signs of external impact on the aircraft,” implying that the plane had not been shot down by Ukraine. News agency TASS cited a source as saying that the plane crashed into a mountain.
RIA Novosti reported that preliminary data suggests the aircraft may have suffered a technical issue.
The An-26 is a twin-engined turboprop aircraft capable of transporting up to 40 soldiers and designed for deploying paratroopers and evacuating the wounded.

Israel refused normalization with Syria last minute, says Al-Sharaa
Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa said that although his government reached good points, Israel changed its mind "at the last minute."
Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa said during a visit to the UK that his government attempted to normalize relations with Israel “without success,” reported Israeli media on Tuesday.
The president made the remarks during an event hosted by the Chatham House Royal Institute of International Affairs in London.
“We tried direct and indirect dialogue and negotiations,” he said. “We reached good points, but Israel changed its mind at the last minute.”
Al-Sharaa also said that Iranian intervention in Syria had "allowed the last regime to uproot the Syrian people,” adding that Syria has “no problem with Iran in Tehran. We have a problem with Iran in Damascus.”
The president explained that Syria has “maintained restraint” in its relations with Iran, adding that the conflict has affected all countries in the region.
Negotiations over war
“Iran has a problem because it is trying to develop ballistic missiles and nuclear bombs and influence other countries,” he said, adding that Syria prefers negotiations “over wars that will lead to additional risks.”
"As long as Syria is not attacked by any party, it will remain outside any conflict,” he emphasized.
Regarding Hezbollah, al-Sharaa reasserted Syria’s commitment to defending its borders and preventing the smuggling of weapons, adding that Syria has paid a heavy price due to Hezbollah’s presence in Lebanon.

Gov. DeSantis Moves to Impeach a Judge Who Released a Child Sex Abuser Who Then Killed His Stepdaughter
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill into law on Tuesday that requires judges to revoke a person’s bond once they have been convicted of dangerous crimes, including sex offenses.
The legislation, well known as Missy’s Law, was named after 5-year-old Missy Mogle, who was killed in Tallahassee last year.
This story is too horrific to detail. She was sexually abused and killed by her parents, Chloe Spencer, 23, and Daniel Spencer, 25. A retired doctor, who was called a “grandfather,” knew about the abuse but didn’t report it. The grandfather, Dr. Robert Frable, 71, who is not related to the child, tried to resuscitate her the day she died. Later, he was charged with failing to report the abuse.
The child had been tortured and abused over a period of time, with her hands bound behind her back.
She died by asphyxiation.
The mother and stepfather are charged with second-degree murder.
A month earlier, Leon County Judge Tiffany Baker-Carper had released Spencer, a convicted sex offender, on bail pending sentencing for attempting to meet a 15-year-old girl. The judge said she released him because he had been out of jail for a year without violations and had no violent criminal history.
It would be nice to see far more of these impeachments.
