GENERAL RANDY GEORGE FIRED - THAT NAME KEK

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth requested General Randy George's immediate retirement to install leadership that would better align with President Donald Trump's vision for the Army.

The decision was driven by Hegseth's long-running grievances with the Army's leadership and his troubled relationship with Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll, rather than substantive differences over the Army's strategic direction. Key factors included:

Personnel Conflicts: Hegseth clashed with George and Driscoll over the defense secretary's attempt to block the promotion of four officers (two women and two Black officers), which they refused to remove from the list citing exemplary service records.

Alignment with Administration: Sources indicated Hegseth wanted a commander who would more closely implement the administration's plans, particularly as the U.S. engages in military activity linked to the Iran war.

Broader Purge: The move is part of a wider leadership shakeup where Hegseth has fired over a dozen senior generals and admirals, including Chief of Chaplains Maj. Gen. William Green and Gen. David Hodne.

Official statements confirmed the departure was unrelated to the recent helicopter incident in Nashville or the general's military performance, with Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell stating the department was "grateful for General Georgeโ€™s decades of service." General George, who was appointed in 2023 and expected to serve until 2027, learned of the request during a phone call on April 2, 2026. General Christopher LaNeve, the current vice chief of staff and a former aide to Hegseth, is expected to succeed him.
