Falsehood. Esther was the Queen of Persia. Her husband was the Persian King Ahasuerus, who is historically identified as Xerxes I (reigned 486–465 BC). She saved her (Hebrew) kinfolk from genocide at the hands of Haman, an advisor to the Persian king. Haman was hung for his treachery to the king, and this event is commemorated to this day in the Jewish celebration of Purim.
