Donald J. Trump Truth Social04:05.26 12:08 AM EST

FROM PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP

WE GOT HIM! My fellow Americans, over the past several hours, the United States Military pulled off one of the most daring Search and Rescue Operations in U.S. History, for one of our incredible Crew Member Officers, who also happens to be a highly respected Colonel, and who I am thrilled to let you know is now SAFE and SOUND!This brave Warrior was behind enemy lines in the treacherous mountains of Iran, being hunted down by our enemies, who were getting closer and closer by the hour, but was never truly alone because his Commander in Chief, Secretary of War, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and fellow Warfighters were monitoring his location 24 hours a day, and diligently planning for his rescue. At my direction, the U.S. Military sent dozens of aircraft, armed with the most lethal weapons in the World, to retrieve him. He sustained injuries, but he will be just fine. This miraculous Search and Rescue Operation comes in addition to a successful rescue of another brave Pilot, yesterday, which we did not confirm, because we did not want to jeopardize our second rescue operation. This is the first time in military memory that two U.S. Pilots have been rescued, separately, deep in Enemy Territory. WE WILL NEVER LEAVE AN AMERICAN WARFIGHTER BEHIND! The fact that we were able to pull off both of these operations, without a SINGLE American killed, or even wounded, just proves once again, that we have achieved overwhelming Air Dominance and Superiority over the Iranian skies. This is a moment that ALL Americans, Republican, Democrat, and everyone else, should be proud of and united around. We truly have the best, most professional, and lethal Military in the History of the World. GOD BLESS AMERICA, GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS, AND HAPPY EASTER TO ALL!

@MarioNawfal

🇺🇸🇮🇷A senior U.S. military official just called this one of the most complex special operations missions in American history

The details that are emerging are extraordinary.

Two transport planes got stuck at a remote base inside Iran after the WSO was recovered.

Commanders flew in three replacement aircraft, extracted everyone, and destroyed both disabled planes on the ground to prevent them falling into Iranian hands.

The F-15E went down in a region with significant opposition to the Iranian government.

The WSO may have received help from local civilians willing to shelter an American pilot while their own government hunted him.

The CIA reportedly facilitates exactly this kind of arrangement through a process called "unconventional assisted recovery," making contact with civilians willing to help vulnerable troops survive.

So the full picture: a pilot ejected, climbed a mountain, was sheltered by locals who risked their lives, evaded for 48 hours while Iran offered bounties, survived a massive firefight at the recovery site, was extracted on aircraft that then got stuck, required three more planes to fly in, and the originals were blown up on exit.

What a story.

Downed U.S. Air Force Officer Rescued Deep Inside in Iran, Trump Says

American commandos carried out a risky mission in Iran to extract an injured crew member who bailed out when a U.S. fighter jet was shot down on Friday.

Updated April 5, 2026, 5:21 a.m

Here’s the latest.

An Air Force weapons officer whose fighter jet had been shot down in Iran wasrescued by U.S. Special Operations forces in a risky Saturday night mission that took commandos deep into enemy territory, said current and former U.S. officials briefed on the operation.

President Trump confirmed in a social media postjust after midnight that the stranded officer had been brought out of Iran safely by U.S. forces. “He sustained injuries, but he will be just fine,” Mr. Trump said. He added that there were no U.S. casualties.

The rescue came after a life-or-death race between U.S. and Iranian forces that stretched over two days to reach theinjured airman, who evaded Iranian for more than 24 hours in mountainous territory with little more than a pistol.

As U.S. forces converged on the downed airman, a firefight erupted, a former senior military official briefed on the operation said. In the end, the United States extracted the officerin an operation that involved hundreds of special operations troops.

The two members of the F-15E Strike Eagle, the first lost to enemy fire in the monthlong war, had both ejected from the cockpit on Friday after Iran’s military shot down the plane. The jet’s pilot was quickly rescued, but its weapons systems officer could not be found, setting off an urgent search with major consequences for President Trump and for the war the United States and Israel launched on Feb. 28.

Rescue planes flew the weapons officer, who was not identified by name, to Kuwait for medical treatment, one senior U.S. military official said.

There was a final obstacle, however, that delayed the rescue. Two transport planes that were supposed to carry the commandos and the airman to safety got stuck at a remote base in Iran, the official said.Three new planes were flown in to extract the U.S. forces, who blew up the two disabled planes to keep them out of Iranian hands.

Here’s what else we’re covering:

Petrochemical factories hit: Israel on Saturday struck the Mahshahr petrochemical complex, a sprawling industrial center in Iran’s southwest that plays a significant role in the country’s economy. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel said the targeted sites were part of a “money machine” that brought in revenues for the Iranian government. At least five people were killed and 170 others injured in the attack on the major oil industry hub, state media in Iran reported.

Iranian missiles: After its underground missile bunkers and silos are bombed, Iran digs them out and returns them to operation within hours, according to U.S. intelligence reports. Iran on Saturday fired ballistic missiles at Israel, lightly wounding four, according to the authorities. Despite the U.S.-Israeli campaign, Iran still possesses powerful military capabilities. Tehran’s city council has approved a proposal to change the name of Argentina Square after Argentina designated the Revolutionary Guards a terrorist organization.

Mehdi Pirhadi, a council member, said the move was approved in light of Argentina’s stance against the Islamic Republic and that the council’s naming committee would now review replacement options and present a final proposal at a future public session.

He said the names of several killed Iranian military commanders, including Amir Ali Hajizadeh, Alireza Tangsiri, Mohammad Bagheri, Mohammad Pakpour and Majid Mousavi, had been raised as possible alternatives.

IRGC threatens harsher next wave after strikes on Persian Gulf energy sites

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said they had launched attacks on what they described as US economic interests in the region and Israeli energy infrastructure, following strikes on civilian sites in Iran.

In a statement, the Guards said the first phase of the response had targeted “Zionist targets in the occupied territories and American economic interests in countries of the region.”

They listed the targets as a refinery in Haifa, gas facilities operated by ExxonMobil and Chevron in Habshan in the UAE, a petrochemical facility in Al Ruwais in the UAE, a petrochemical site in Sitra in Bahrain, and a petrochemical facility in Shuaiba in Kuwait.

The statement also included a direct warning of further escalation.

“If attacks on civilian targets are repeated, the second phase of this operation will be carried out in a much more crushing and extensive manner,” it said.

The Guards added: “We repeat once again: if you commit more aggression and strike civilian facilities, our responses will be more crushing.”

The statement framed the attacks as a response to what it described as strikes on a bridge in Karaj and the Mahshahr petrochemical complex.
