‘Islamabad Accord’ sent to Iran, US envisions Monday ceasefire

Iran and the United States have received a proposal to end hostilities that could take effect on Monday and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, according to Reuters citing a source familiar with the plan.

The source said a framework had been drawn up by Pakistan and exchanged overnight with both sides. It envisions a two-stage approach, with an immediate ceasefire followed by a broader agreement.(no country obeys ceasefires, Ukraine is notorious for breaking many of them.)

“All elements need to be agreed today,” the source said, adding that the initial understanding would take the form of a memorandum of understanding finalized electronically through Pakistan, described as the sole communication channel in the talks.

According to the source, Pakistan’s army chief,Field Marshal Asim Munir, had been in contact “all night long” with US Vice President JD Vance, special envoy Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

Under the proposal, a ceasefire would begin immediately andthe Strait of Hormuz would reopen, with 15 to 20 daysset aside to finalize a wider settlement.

Strait of Hormuz cannot be held hostage, UAE presidential advisor says

The Strait of Hormuz cannot be held hostage by any country, diplomaticadviser to the UAEpresident, Anwar Gargash, said at a weekend briefing.

"The Strait of Hormuz cannot be held hostage by any country," he said, adding thatfreedom of navigation through the waterway "has to be part and parcel of the settlement of any conflictwith clear agreement on that."

He said freedom of navigation through the waterway must be part of any settlement to the US-Iran war.

Gargash said theUAE wanted the war to end but warnedagainst a ceasefire that failed to address Iran’s nuclear program and its missile and drone capabilities.

Such a deal would create “a more dangerous, more volatile Middle East,” he said.

“We don’t want to see more and more escalation,”. he said.“But we don’t want a ceasefire that fails to address some of the main issuesthat will create a much more dangerous environment in the region… notably (Iran's) nuclear program, the missiles and drones that are still raining down on us and on other countries.”

Iran executes fourth protester in Basij base fire case

Mizan, which is affiliated with the judiciary, said the sentence against Ali Fahim had been carried out.

Three other defendants in the same case - Amirhossein Hatami, Mohammadamin Biglari and Shahin Vahedparast - had already been executed.

The case relates to a fire at the Shahid Mahmoud Kaveh Basij base in east Tehran on the evening of January 8, after which seven people were arrested.

All seven were sentenced over “enmity against God”(moharebeh), a charge that carries the death penalty. (Shouldn’t God determine that himself? I’m sure God would be able to determine enmity, why do they consider they can act in the place of God!)

Pakistan-backed proposal sketches two-phase deal to halt hostilities7 hours ago

Iran and the United States have received a proposal to end hostilities that could take effect on Monday and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, according to Reuters citing a source familiar with the plan.

The source said a framework had beendrawn up by Pakistan and exchanged overnight with both sides. It envisions atwo-stage approach, with an immediate ceasefire followed by a broader agreement.

“All elements need to be agreed today,” the source said, adding that the initial understanding would take the form of a memorandum of understanding finalized electronically through Pakistan, described as the sole communication channel in the talks.

According to the source, Pakistan’s army chief, FieldMarshal Asim Munir, had been in contact “all night long” with US Vice President JD Vance, special envoy Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

Under the proposal, a ceasefire would begin immediately and the Strait of Hormuz would reopen, with 15 to 20 days set aside to finalize a wider settlement.

The source said the plan, tentatively called the “Islamabad Accord,” wouldinclude a regional framework for the strait and culminate in in-person talks in Islamabad.

Axios reported on Sunday that the United States, Iran and regional mediators were discussing a possible 45-day ceasefire as part of a two-phase deal that could lead to a permanent end to the war.

There was no immediate confirmation from US or Iranian officials.

Iranian officials have previously saidTehran is seeking a permanent ceasefire with guaranteesagainst renewed attacks by the United States and Israel, and have said messages have reached Iran through mediators including Pakistan, Turkey and Egypt.

According to an analysis by IRGC media Tasnim on Monday, a proposed45-day temporary ceasefire “under the shadow of war”has no place in Iran’s policy, because any pause that does not meet Tehran’s conditions for ending the conflict would only give its enemies time to regroup.

The analysis saidIran has repeatedly rejected temporary trucesthat leave open the possibility of renewed attack, arguing that Washington and Israel would use such a window to recover from pressure on the battlefield, ease ammunition and strategic strains, and continue to extract military, economic and political advantages while keeping Iran under threat.

It added that, under the framework Iranian officials have set out,the war can end only if there are concrete guarantees against renewed US and Israeli attacks along with other non-negotiable conditions, and said the Strait of Hormuz would not return to its pre-war status.

According to the source who talked to Reuters, a final agreement would be expected toinclude Iranian commitments not to pursue nuclear weaponsin return for sanctions relief and the release of frozen assets.

But two Pakistani sources said Iran had not yet committed despite intensified civilian and military outreach.

“Iran has not responded yet,” one source said, adding that proposals backed byPakistan, China and the United States for a temporary ceasefire had so far drawn no commitment.

(Iran has no intention of signing anything, once again they are just delaying to re-arm up, for more.)

Iran executes at least five in week of wartime crackdown

Iran has executed at least five men over the past week in cases linked to anti-government protests and security-related charges,as human rights groups warn of an escalating use of capital punishment againstpolitical detainees.

The latest executions took place on Sunday, when authorities hangedMohammadamin Biglari and Shahin Vahedparast, accused of attempting to storm a military site during the January protests and trying to reach an armory, according to the judiciary’s news outlet Mizan.

State media said the two were part of a group that entered a military facility in Tehran, damaged the site and attempted to access its weapons storage area.

Authorities also accused the groupof planning to enter other military and security locations, including police stations and Basij bases, to obtain weapons.

Theexecutions followed the hangingon Saturday of two other prisoners, Abolhassan Montazer and Vahid Bani-Amerian.

Iran’s =judiciary described the pair as “terrorists==,” saying they had been convicted of “armed rebellion,” membership in the opposition Mojahedin-e Khalq (MEK) and plotting attacks using rocket launchers.

Both men had been sentenced to death in December 2024 by Tehran’s Revolutionary Court.

Earlier in the week, authorities executed Amirhossein Hatami, an 18-year-old protest detainee convicted in connection with a fire at a Basij base in Tehran during the January protests.

Hamas was among a group of detainees held responsible for events at the “185 Mahmoud Kaveh” Basij base on January 8.

Families of those arrested told Iran International that Hatami and others had been pushed into the building by unidentified armed individualsduring the protests andbecame trapped insidewhen the base caught fire.

Human rights groups say the executions form part of abroader rise in capital punishment tied to protest-related cases.

Amnesty International recently warned that at least 11 men detained during the January protests are at risk of imminent execution.

The organization said detainees had been subjected totorture and other ill-treatment in custody and convicted in trials it described as grossly unfair and based on forced confessions.

Rights groups have called for an immediate halt to executions linked to the protests, warning that the rapid pace of death sentences could deepen the crackdown on dissent.

Iran withholds body of executed teen protester

Iranian authorities have not returned the bodyof 18-year-old protester Amirhossein Hatamito his family four days after his execution on Thursday, Iran International has learned.

Informed sources said officials withheld the body after Hatami’s name appeared on a website linked to the Mojahedin-e Khalgh organization (MEK), an allegation his family denies.

Hatami was among defendants in a case related to a fire at a Basij base in eastern Tehran.

Several others in the same case, including Mohammadamin Biglari, Shahin Vahedparast, Abolfazl Salehi Siavashani and Ali Fahim, were also sentenced to death.

Vahedparast and Biglari were executed on Sunday, while Fahim’s execution was announced on Monday.

According to some reports, Vahedparast’s body has also not been returned to his family.

Vahededpatast’swife was reportedly four months pregnant at the time of his execution, and relatives said he had hoped to open a restaurant with her.

Informed sources told Iran International thatHatami was an industrial design student at the University of Tehran and was fluent in three languages.

A source familiar with the case said the incident on January 8involved seven defendants, none of whom had a role in starting the fire. The source said they entered the Basij base along with around 50 others after the fire had already begun.

Minutes later, another fire broke out and many people managed to flee, but seven individuals, including Hatami, were unable to escape, the source said.

They went to the rooftop but were detainedby Basij forces and severely beaten, according to the source.

Judicial authoritiesaccused the detainees of attempting to access an armory.

After interrogations that involved severe psychological pressure, they were transferred to Ghezel Hesar prison, the source said.

Thedefendants were denied in-person visits during detentionand were only allowed phone calls.

Their trial was held by Judge Abolghasem Salavati, and they were denied access to a lawyer of their choice. Death sentences were issued on February 7.

Iran International sources said the confessions in the case were obtained under coercion and that thejudicial process led to executions without full awareness of the defendants and their families.

==Trump reveals Iran made 'significant proposal' after ultimatum, but 'not good enough'

Trump said it's a 'significant step' and Iran is negotiating==

By Eric Mack Fox News

Published April 6, 2026 11:34am ED

April 6, 2026 11:34am EDT

President Donald Trump said Iran negotiators made "a significant proposal, a significant step," following the ultimatum he issued on Easter Sunday, but it is not "good enough."

"They made a proposal, and it's a significant proposal, a significant step," Trump told reporters at the Easter Egg Roll on Monday, a White House tradition that comes amid the backdrop of war.

"It's not good enough, but it's a very significant step," Trump continued."They are negotiating now. And they have made a very significant step. We'll see what happens."

Trump's media gaggle offered previews of Monday's 1 p.m. news conference detailing the rescue of the downed airmen behind Iran's enemies lines, saying the airmen "are both recovering very well" andIran "got lucky" in downing their F-15e jet.

"You know what? When you do thousands and thousands of flights, and you have one plane shot down and not mortally, the two pilots got out – they got a little bit lucky," Trump said. "And you know what? In a way you need a little bit of luck. Also, they got a little bit lucky. That's all they got."

Trump is warning someunspecificied consequences for refusing to "cry uncle" and come to heel and reopenthe Strait of Hormuz to global oil trade.

"We are obliterating that country, andI hate to do it, but we're obliterating, and they just don't want to say uncle – they don't want to cry, as the expression goes, uncle, but they will," Trump said. "And if they don't, they'll have no bridges, they'll have no power plants. They'll have no anything.

"I won't go further, because there are other things that are worse than those two."

Trump did not rule out taking over Iran's oil.

"If I had my choice, what would I like to do? Take the oil, because it's there for the taking; there's not a thing they can do about it," Trump continued. "Unfortunately, the American people would like to see us come home. If it were up to me, I'd take the oil. I'd keep the oil.KEK

"I would make plenty of money, andI'd also take care of the people of Iran much better than they've been taken care of. It's been horrible."

Trump pointed to the arrangement with Venezuela as apotential model for the next phase once Iran comes to heel, including ==the "lunatics" needing to give up their nuclear weapons aspirations.

"Hopefully it could be over with quickly," Trump concluded before returning to the traditional White House Easter Egg Roll. "Again, there are lots of different alternatives. We have many alternatives.

"We could leave right now, and it would take them 15 years to rebuild what they have. We could leave right now, but I want to finish it up."
