Israel Insist Iran Ceasefire Doesn't Apply In Lebanon, Which Suffers Huge Airstrikes

Israel has made clear that it doesn't see the newly declared US-Iran ceasefire as applying to its war in Lebanon, where it is still trying to destroy Hezbollah. The White House too has made its stance clear that it doesn't apply, but President Trump has stated his intent to take care of a Lebanon ceasefire separately.

The military has unleashed hell on Beirut, southern Lebanon, and the eastern Bekaa valley overnight and through Wednesday - with Beirut suffering some of the worst aerial bombardments of the war.

Pakistan, however, has said that the ceasefire does extend to the Israel-Hezbollah conflict. But the Israeli military (IDF) is as usual letting the bombs do the talking, and is largely ignoring the diplomatic side of things.

Israel on Wednesday reportedly struck over 100 Hezbollah (and civilian) targets within a mere 10 minutes across Beirut, the south of the country, and Bekaa.

Viral images and videos have shown massive smoke plumes lingering above the densely populated Lebanese capital. The surprise attack on busy commercial locations unleashed panic in the streets - and a full casualty accounting has not been immediately forthcoming .

Six people were killed in one attack in Saida.

Three people were killed in a strike in western Beirut.

White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt has said Lebanon is not covered by the two‑week ceasefire arrangement between the US and Iran. “Lebanon is not part of the ceasefire,” she told reporters on Wednesday, adding that “this will continue to be discussed, I’m sure.”

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said that the Iran-US ceasefire terms are “clear and explicit,” warning that Washington must choose between enforcing the truce or backing Israeli attacks. In a post on X, he shared Pakistani PM Shehbaz Sharif’s announcement that Iran and the US “along with their allies” had agreed to an “immediate ceasefire everywhere including Lebanon and elsewhere,” adding, “The world sees the massacres in Lebanon… the ball is in the US court.”

Al Jazeera correspondent Mohammed Wishah has been killed in Gaza after an Israeli drone struck the vehicle he was driving on a main road in Gaza City, the network reports. With his death, the number of Palestinian journalists killed by Israel since October 2023 has reportedly risen to 262. Despite a US‑brokered truce in October 2025, the Gaza Government Media Office says the Israeli military has carried out around 2,000 violations in the territory.

Lebanon’s Civil Defense has reported a significantly higher toll from the latest Israeli strikes, saying 254 people have been killed and 1,165 wounded across the country. In a statement, it listed 92 dead and 742 injured in Beirut alone, and warned the numbers are likely to rise as rescue teams continue to pull survivors and bodies from under the rubble in “extremely dangerous and complex” conditions.

A bill in Canada that could criminalize quoting the Bible as hate speech has sparked backlash from religious and conservative groups across the country. “Bill C-9 makes it easier for people of faith and others to be criminally charged because of views that other people take offense to,” warned Andrew Lawton, a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Conservative opposition.

Bill C-9, known as the Combatting Hate Act, was introduced by Minister for Justice and Attorney General Sean Fraser, and has already passed through the House of Commons, roughly equivalent to the U.S. House of Representatives. It will be debated in the Canadian Senate later this year.

The bill removes two sections of Canada’s criminal code: 319(3)(b) and 319(3.1)(b). Both specifically state that someone cannot be found guilty of hate speech if they “expressed or attempted to establish by an argument an opinion on a religious subject or an opinion based on a belief in a religious text”.

Marc Miller, an MP from the ruling Liberal Party who supports the bill, has cited passages from Leviticus, Deuteronomy, and Romans condemning homosexual acts as examples of religious text that could be classed as hate speech. “How do we somehow constitute this as being said in good faith? Clearly, there are situations in these texts where statements are hateful. They should not… be a defense,” he said during a House Justice Committee hearing.

The proposed changes have drawn criticism from Christians in Canada. “This narrowly framed exemption has served for many years as an essential safeguard to ensure that Canadians are not criminally prosecuted for their sincere, truth-seeking expression of beliefs made without animus and grounded in long-standing religious traditions,” the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops wrote to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney in a letter last year.

Iran Reportedly Shutters Strait Of Hormuz Again After Accusing Israel Of Ceasefire Violations

Iran has reportedly closed the Strait of Hormuz to all oil tankers Wednesday after the country accused Israel of violating the ceasefire agreement by striking targets in Lebanon.

State media in Iran announced that they had suspended the passage of oil tankers through the Strait after Israel repeatedly bombed targets in Lebanon in violation of a newly-brokered ceasefire, according to i24News correspondent Ariel Oseran. The strikes were reportedly against Hezbollah targets in Beirut and the surrounding areas, which were characterized as the heaviest of the conflict.

“Iran has suspended the passage of oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz in response to Israeli strikes in Lebanon, the IRGC’s Fars News reports,” Oseran tweeted. “Earlier today, two oil tankers were able to transit the strait ‘with permission from Iran,’ Fars stated.”

“Because of Hezbollah,” the president said, according to Landers. “They were not included in the deal. That’ll get taken care of too. It’s alright.”

Landers then reportedly asked Trump whether he was okay with Israel continuing their strikes, to which the president said that it was “part of the deal,” before hanging up after being asked about his threat against Iran’s civilization.

Trump did tell the New York Post that in-person talks with Iran would happen “very soon,” though he did not offer a specific time and said that Vice President JD Vance might not attend due to security concerns.

Lebanon criticized Israel’s attack on X, calling the strikes “barbaric” and stating that it proved Israel “demonstrated their contempt for all international laws and norms.”

“This dangerous escalation places full responsibility on the Israeli entity for its repercussions, and we affirm that the continuation of these aggressive policies will only lead to further tension and a complete lack of stability, at a time when all are most in need of de-escalation and respect for commitments,” the statement from the country’s presidency, originally in Arabic, read in part.

The reported closure of the Hormuz comes as Trump threatened tariffs against any country that supplies Iran with weapons during the ceasefire agreement. The U.S. also reportedly struck Iran’s Kharg Island on Tuesday morning, hours before the 8 p.m. deadline.

Oil prices collapsed in the wake of the ceasefire agreement, with Brent crude trading at $95 per barrel as of noon Wednesday.

Reports: Ukraine Military Establishes Foothold in Libya

In early March, Russia accused Ukrainian forces of launching a devastating drone attack against a tanker from secret bases on the coast of Libya. French media outlet RFI on Monday published a report that said Ukraine is indeed operating out of western Libya, with over 200 personnel deployed to three locations.

The Russian tanker Arctic Metagaz, a liquid natural gas (LNG) tanker that belongs to Russia’s sanctions-evading “shadow fleet,” was hit by a drone attack in the Mediterranean on March 3. The ship was carrying 60,000 metric tons of LNG from Murmansk, Russia, to Port Said, Egypt.

The 30-man crew of the Arctic Metagaz was quickly evacuated and the ship was left to drift from waters near Italy to the coast of Libya, with a hole blasted near the waterline.

The Libyan National Oil Corporation (NOC) sent a tugboat to secure the wrecked tanker, fearing it might leak gas into the sea or collide with an offshore oil rig in the Gulf of Sidra. The ship was still adrift as of Tuesday, with a Libyan dive team attempting to salvage it. The Libyan navy also dispatched a patrol boat to warn other ships to avoid the dangerous hulk.

Moscow was quick to accuse Ukraine of attacking the ship from Libya’s coastline, allegedly with assistance from British intelligence. RFI reported on Monday that Ukraine does have a presence in western Libya, operating under a secret agreement signed in October with the internationally recognized government in Tripoli. Libya has two competing governments, with the other one based in the eastern city of Benghazi.

According to RFI, the October agreement allowed Ukrainian forces to operate out of the air force academy in Misrata, a naval base in Zawiya, and a coastal site that is currently being upgraded with stronger fortifications and runways.

In exchange for these bases, Ukraine has agreed to train Libyan forces, especially in the use of drones. Ukraine also has options to sell weapons to the Tripoli government and to make investments in Libyan oil.

RFI’s sources said the Arctic Metagaz was hit by a Ukrainian-made Magura V5 drone, an unmanned surface vehicle (USV) developed to strike Russian naval targets in the Black Sea. The Magura V5 is an 18-foot remote-controlled boat packed with explosives that has proven highly effective against Russian warships.

Sources in Ukrainian security said the Arctic Metagaz was actually the second ship attacked by Ukrainian forces in Libya. The first was a shadow fleet oil tanker called Qendil, which was sailing between Greece and Libya when it was hit by a drone launched from the vicinity of Misrata, Libya.

The Associated Press (AP) said on Tuesday that two Libyan officials substantially confirmed the RFI report, with the added detail that the agreement between Ukraine and the Tripoli government “enjoyed the backing of Western countries, including the United States.”

The army did amazing work; the best air force in the world carried out everything asked of it and more. The people of Israel demonstrated national resilience and determination. We dealt Iran heavy blows. That is precisely why the total failure stands out even more starkly.

What happened here is a diplomatic disaster on a scale I do not recall ever seeing. I was prime minister, I was foreign minister, and I do not remember a diplomatic collapse like this. For the thousandth time, it has been proven: military force without a diplomatic plan does not lead to a decisive victory.

Netanyahu led us into a strategic debacle. Nothing less. What we saw was a disgraceful combination of arrogance, irresponsibility, lack of planning, negligent staff work, zero handling of the home front, and lies sold to the Americans that damaged the trust between our two countries. A military success turned into a diplomatic disaster.

I know these are harsh things to say, but they are spoken out of anger and genuine anxiety. The State of Israel entered this war with a rare consensus. The public supported it across the board. I supported the war and its objectives from the very first moment in dozens of interviews with the international media. But after six weeks of dead and wounded and rushing to shelters, it became clear that Netanyahu is incapable of winning any campaign.

The prime minister deceived the citizens of Israel, deceived his partners, and, through a series of theatrical press conferences, sold the public a strategic plan that did not exist.

Israel had no influence whatsoever over the agreement signed overnight between the United States and Iran through Pakistani mediation. They will try to sell you the story that we influenced things behind the scenes, that they consulted us, that there were late-night talks and secret meetings – know this: these are hollow lies.

Netanyahu turned us into a client state that receives instructions over the phone on matters touching the very core of our national security. At a critical moment for our security, he was pushed away from the table. The whole world saw it. The entire Middle East saw it. At the moment of truth, the Israeli government was demoted from the status of a strategic ally to the level of a demolition contractor.

This war was managed as if the citizens of the State of Israel were the government’s cannon fodder. No sheltering solutions, no educational plans, no compensation plans, no plan for Ben Gurion Airport – nothing! Zero concern for the citizens.

Iran Says Refinery Was Hit After Ceasefire As UAE, Kuwait And Bahrain Report Fresh Strikes

A series of strikes hit a refinery on Iran Lavan Island on the morning of April 8, just a few hours after a two-week ceasefire with the United States and Israel was announced.

“Around 10 a.m…. the facilities of Lavan Oil Refinery, located on Lavan Island, were subjected to a cowardly attack by the enemies,” Iran’s National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company said in a statement carried by the Mehr news agency.

The company noted that there were no casualties. Video footage posted to social networks showed smoke rising from the refinery, which can produce over 55,000 barrels per day of gasoline and high-quality fuel.

The strikes were the first clear violation of the Pakistani-brokered temporary ceasefire announced by U.S. President Donald Trump earlier, and officially accepted by Iran.

Right after the strikes, several Gulf nations reported missile and drone attacks on their territories, in what was likely an Iranian response.

The United Arab Emirates said that its air defenses “are actively engaging” incoming missiles and drones from the Islamic Republic.

In a statement, the UAE’s Defense Ministry said that the sounds of explosions heard in different areas across the country were caused by air defense systems intercepting ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and unmanned aerial vehicles. It later reported the interception of 17 ballistic missiles and 35 drones.

⁠Kuwait also ⁠said its ⁠air defenses were ⁠intercepting a wave of Iranian drones ‌launched since the morning, according to its army.

The ⁠Kuwaiti army said in a statement that ⁠some drones targeted vital ⁠oil facilities, ⁠power stations ⁠and water desalination plants, causing ‌serious infrastructure damage.

Kuwait’s Defense Ministry later announced that its air defense systems responded to “intense hostile Iranian attacks,” adding that a total of 28 drones were dealt with.

“Kuwaiti armed forces intercepted a large number of drones, some of which targeted vital oil installations and power stations in the south of the country,” it added.

Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior also reported alleged Iranian attacks, which it said resulted in the injury of at least two people.

“Two citizens sustained minor injuries and a number of houses were damaged in the Sitra area as a result of shrapnel falling from the interception of an Iranian drone,” the ministry said in a statement.

In an earlier statement, the Interior Ministry said civil defense crews had succeeded in controlling a fire that broke out in a facility “targeted by the Iranian aggression”, without elaborating on the location of the facility. Blasts were heard in the capital, Manama. Smoke was also seen rising from an area on Sitra Island that hosts Bahrain’s key energy facilities.

North Hollywood Drug Dealer Who Sold Ketamine that Killed Actor Matthew Perry Sentenced to 15 Years in Federal Prison

A San Fernando Valley woman was sentenced today to 180 months in federal prison for her long-running drug dealing activities, including selling ketamine that contributed to at least two deaths, including the overdose death of actor Matthew Perry in October 2023.

Jasveen Sangha, 42, a.k.a. “Ketamine Queen,” of North Hollywood, was sentenced by United States District Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett.

Sangha pleaded guilty in September 2025 to one count of maintaining a drug-involved premises, three counts of distribution of ketamine, and one count of distribution of ketamine resulting in death or serious bodily injury.

Sangha is a dual citizen of the United States and the United Kingdom and has been in federal custody since August 2024.

“For years…Sangha operated a high-volume drug trafficking business out of her North Hollywood residence,” prosecutors argued in a sentencing memorandum. “To cultivate her business, [Sangha] marketed herself as an exclusive dealer who catered to high-profile Hollywood clientele…While [Sangha] worked to expand and profit from her drug trafficking, she knew – and disregarded – the grave harm her conduct was causing.”

According to court documents, Sangha worked with Erik Fleming, 56, of Hawthorne, to knowingly distribute ketamine to Perry, a successful actor and author whose struggles with drug addiction were well documented. In October 2023, Sangha and Fleming sold Perry 51 vials of ketamine, which were provided to Kenneth Iwamasa, 61, of Toluca Lake, Perry’s live-in personal assistant.

Leading up to Perry’s death, Iwamasa repeatedly injected Perry with the ketamine that Sangha supplied to Fleming. Specifically, on October 28, 2023, Iwamasa injected Perry with at least three shots of Sangha’s ketamine, which caused Perry’s death.

After learning from news reports of Perry’s death, Sangha called Fleming on the Signal app to discuss how to distance themselves from it. That day, Sangha updated the settings on the Signal apps to automatically delete her messages with Fleming. She further instructed Fleming to “Delete all our messages.”

Two days after Perry’s death, Fleming left Sangha a voicemail on Signal and texted, “Please call . . . Got more info and want to bounce ideas off you. I’m 90% sure everyone is protected. I never dealt with [Perry]. Only his Assistant. So the Assistant was the enabler. Also they are doing a 3 month tox screening . . . Does K stay in your system or is it immediately flushed out[?].”

In August 2019, Sangha sold four vials ketamine to victim Cody McLaury, who died hours later from a drug overdose.
