Guys, I’ll be honest. This is the worst situation for rice and soybean farmers I have ever seen. $5 for off-road diesel and $700/ton fertilizer after losing money last year was not on my Bingo card. I will not go into farm debt to plant a crop. I will mot put my land at risk to lose money. The USDA farm program is not near enough to cover last years losses and this years input price increases. My large diesel farm tank is empty. I am parking my tractors and doubling my personal garden. I’ll probably get a job at a gas station. It is sad that you can’t make a living with $4 million in land and that you can make more as a quick stop clerk.
Truth. Realtors are calling trying to get land for some investors. Like buzzards in a tree. I said if I wanted to sell there would be a sign in the ground. My family has farmer grain since the revolutionary war.
