NASA Astronomy Picture of the Day

April 11, 2026

Artemis II: Flight Day 6

On flight day 6 (April 6) the Artemis II mission achieved a historic lunar flyby. Rounding the lunar far side, the deep space maneuver marked humanity's first venture to the Moon since Apollo 17 in 1972. The Orion spacecraft Integrity reached a maximum distance of nearly 407,000 kilometers, and the Artemis II crew, Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen, set the record for the farthest distance from Earth traveled by any human since the Apollo 13 crew in 1970. From behind the Moon on flight day 6, a solar array wing camera recorded this space age selfie, framing the spacecraft and lunar far side. Planet Earth, home to the Artemis II crew, is the small, bright crescent beyond the lunar limb. The crew safely returned home on Artemis II mission flight day 10.

Meteor Activity Outlook for April 11-17, 2026

During this period, the Moon will reach its new phase on Friday, April 17. At that time, it will lie near the Sun and will not be visible at night.

This weekend, the waning crescent Moon will rise during the early morning hours and will not spoil meteor observing as long as you keep it out of your field of view.

Evening observers this weekend can expect total hourly rates of 2 from mid-northern latitudes (45°N) and near 3 from tropical southern locations (25°S).

Morning observers may see rates near 4 from mid-northern latitudes and near 6 from tropical southern locations. Morning rates are slightly reduced due to moonlight.

The actual rates observed will also depend on factors such as personal light and motion perception, local weather conditions, alertness, and experience in watching meteor activity.

Note that the hourly rates listed below are estimates based on observations from dark-sky sites away from urban light sources. Observers viewing from urban areas will see less activity, as only the brighter meteors will be visible from such locations.

The radiant (the area of the sky from which meteors appear to originate) positions and rates listed below are exact for Saturday night/Sunday morning, April 11/12.

These positions do not change greatly from day to day, so the listed coordinates may be used throughout this entire period.

Most star atlases (available online, in bookstores, and at planetariums) include maps with celestial coordinate grids that can help you locate these positions in the sky.

I have also included charts of the sky that display the radiant positions for evening, midnight, and morning. The center of each chart represents the sky directly overhead at the corresponding hour.

These charts are oriented for facing south but can be used for any direction by rotating them accordingly. A planisphere or planetarium app is also useful for showing the sky at any time of night on any date of the year.

Activity from each radiant is best seen when it is positioned highest in the sky (culmination), either due north or south along the meridian, depending on your latitude.

Radiants that rise after midnight will not reach their highest point until daylight; therefore, it is best to view them during the last few hours of the night.

>>24488717

It must be remembered that meteor activity is rarely seen directly at the radiant position. Rather, meteors shoot outward from the radiant, so it is best to center your field of view so that the radiant lies near the edge rather than the center.

Viewing in this way allows you to trace the path of each meteor back to the radiant (if it belongs to a shower) or in another direction if it is sporadic. Meteor activity is not visible from radiants located far below the horizon.

The positions below are listed in west-to-east order by right ascension (celestial longitude). The positions listed first are located farther west and are therefore accessible earlier in the night, while those listed farther down the list rise later.

The following sources of meteoric activity are expected to be active this week:

The alpha Virginids (AVB) were first mentioned by R. B. Southworth and G. S. Hawkins in Smithsonian Contributions to Astrophysics (1963). These meteors are active from April 6 through May 1, with maximum occurring on April 15.

The current location of this radiant is 13:12 (198) +04. This position is located in northern Virgo, 3 degrees east of the 3rd-magnitude star Minelauva (delta Virginis).

This radiant is best placed near 01:00 local standard time (LST), when it lies on the meridian and is highest in the southern sky. Rates at this time should be less than 1 per hour, regardless of location.

With an entry velocity of 20 km/sec, the average meteor from this source would be of medium-slow velocity. This source is also far enough from the core of the anthelion radiant to be noticed, but care must be taken to differentiate between the two.

The center of the large Anthelion (ANT) radiant is currently located at 14:20 (215) -15. This position lies on the Libra/Virgo border, 6 degrees west of the 3rd-magnitude star Zubenelgenubi (alpha Librae).

This radiant is best placed near 01:00 LST, when it lies on the meridian and is highest in the southern sky. Rates at this time should be near 2 per hour as seen from the Northern Hemisphere and 3 as seen from south of the equator.

With an entry velocity of 30 km/sec, the average Anthelion meteor would be of slow velocity.

The zeta Cygnids (ZCY) are also part of weak activity in Cygnus during March and April. This shower is active from March 21 through May 1, with maximum activity occurring near April 6.

The radiant is currently located at 20:00 (300) +40. This area lies in western Cygnus, 3 degrees west of the 2nd-magnitude star Sadr (gamma Cygni). This position is close to the radiant of the nu Cygnids, and they cannot be differentiated by visual means.

The nu Cygnids are expected to be more active at this time, so meteors from this area should be attributed to them. This radiant is best placed during the last hour prior to dawn when it lies highest above the eastern horizon.

With an entry velocity of 44 km/sec, these meteors are of medium velocity. Expected rates are less than 1 per hour. Due to the far northern location, these meteors are poorly seen from the Southern Hemisphere.

The nu Cygnids (NCY) are part of weak activity in Cygnus during March and April. This shower was discovered by Jürgen Rendtel and Sirko Molau of the International Meteor Organization.

It is active from March 22 through April 23, with maximum activity occurring near April 21. The radiant is currently located at 20:04 (301) +38. This area lies in western Cygnus, 3 degrees southwest of the 3rd-magnitude star Sadr (gamma Cygni).

This radiant is best placed during the last hour prior to dawn when it lies highest above the eastern horizon. With an entry velocity of 44 km/sec, these meteors are of medium velocity. Expected rates are less than 1 per hour.

The April epsilon Delphinids (AED) were discovered by P. Jenniskens and R. Rudawska from CAMS and SonotaCo meteoroid orbit surveys published in 2014. This weak source is active from March 31 through April 19, with maximum activity occurring on April 10.

The radiant currently lies at 20:40 (310) +13. This position lies in central Delphinus, 1 degree south of the 4th-magnitude star Rotanev (beta Delphini).

These meteors are best seen during the last dark hour prior to morning twilight when the radiant lies highest in the eastern sky. With an entry velocity of 61 km/sec, these meteors are fast. Current rates are expected to be less than 1 per hour.

>>24488718

The eta Aquariids (ETA) are active from April 15 through May 27, with maximum activity expected on May 5. The radiant is currently located at 21:04 (316) -10 in western Aquarius, 3 degrees east of the 4th-magnitude star epsilon Aquarii.

These meteors are not visible prior to 02:00 LST and are best seen just before the start of dawn when the radiant lies highest in the eastern sky. Hourly rates are expected to be low (<1) this week, as maximum activity is still three weeks away.

With an entry velocity of 64 km/sec, these meteors are swift.

Sporadic meteors are those that cannot be associated with any known meteor shower. All meteor showers evolve and disperse over time until they are no longer recognizable.

Away from the peaks of major annual showers, sporadic meteors make up the bulk of the activity seen each night.

As seen from the mid-northern hemisphere (45°N), one can expect to see approximately 4 sporadic meteors per hour during the last hour before dawn from rural observing sites.

Evening rates would be near 2 per hour. From tropical southern latitudes (25°S), morning rates would be around 7 per hour and evening rates near 3 per hour. Morning rates are slightly reduced due to moonlight.

The list below provides information in tabular form on active showers within reach of the visual observer. Hourly rates are often less than one, so these sources are rarely listed as visual targets in most meteor shower catalogs.

If you wish to associate as many meteors as possible with known sources, you will appreciate these listings.

Before claiming to have observed meteors from these Class IV showers, determine whether they truly belong to them and are not chance alignments of sporadic meteors.

Note parameters such as duration, length, radiant distance, and elevation to help compute the probability of shower association.

It should be remembered that slow meteors can appear in fast showers, but fast meteors cannot be produced by slow showers.

Slower showers have velocities less than 35 km/sec. Slow meteors from fast showers usually occur close to the radiant or low in the sky.

The table on page 23 of the IMO’s 2026 Meteor Shower Calendar is a helpful tool for identifying meteors.

If you record the length and duration of each meteor, you can use this chart to estimate the probability of shower association. If the angular velocity matches the table values, your meteor likely belongs to that shower.

Recognizing meteors from obscure showers is not for beginning observers—it takes many hours of practice to develop an instinct for what you are seeing.

It is our hope that you will move beyond simply watching meteors as a celestial fireworks display and help expand our knowledge by classifying each meteor you observe.

NASA Welcomes Record-Setting Artemis II Moonfarers Back to Earth

Apr 10, 2026

The first astronauts to travel to the Moon in more than half a century are back on Earth after a record-setting mission aboard NASA’s Artemis II test flight.

NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch, and CSA (Canadian Space Agency) astronaut Jeremy Hansen splashed down at 5:07 p.m. PDT Friday off the coast of San Diego, completing a nearly 10-day journey that took them 252,756 miles from home at their farthest distance from Earth.

“Reid, Victor, Christina, and Jeremy, welcome home, and congratulations on a truly historic achievement.

NASA is grateful to President Donald Trump and partners in Congress for providing the mandate and resources that made this mission and the future of Artemis possible,” said NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman.

“Artemis II demonstrated extraordinary skill, courage, and dedication as the crew pushed Orion, SLS (Space Launch System), and human exploration farther than ever before.

As the first astronauts to fly this rocket and spacecraft, the crew accepted significant risk in service of the knowledge gained and the future we are determined to build. NASA also acknowledges the contributions of the entire NASA workforce, along with our international partners, whose expertise and commitment were essential to this mission’s success. With Artemis II complete, focus now turns confidently toward assembling Artemis III and preparing to return to the lunar surface, build the base, and never give up the Moon again.”

After splashdown in the Pacific Ocean, the astronauts were met by a combined NASA and U.S. military team that assisted them out of the spacecraft in open water and transported them via helicopter to the USS John P. Murtha for initial medical checkouts.

The crew members are expected to return to NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston on Saturday, April 11.

During their mission, Wiseman, Glover, Koch, and Hansen flew 694,481 miles in total. Their lunar flyby took them farther than any humans have ever traveled before, surpassing the previous distance record set by Apollo 13 astronauts in 1970.

The first Artemis crew launched on NASA’s SLS rocket at 6:35 p.m. April 1, from Launch Pad 39B at the agency’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

With 8.8 million pounds of thrust at liftoff, the American-built rocket propelled the crew inside the Orion spacecraft to space, delivering it to orbit with pinpoint accuracy after a smooth countdown conducted by the agency’s Artemis launch control team.

During the first day in space, the astronauts and teams on the ground checked out the spacecraft — named Integrity by the crew — to confirm all systems were healthy ahead of the transit to the Moon. NASA also deployed four CubeSats from international partners to Earth orbit.

On the second day of the test flight, with all systems Go, Orion’s service module fired its main engine, placing the astronauts on a trajectory that brought them 4,067 miles above the lunar surface at their closest approach.

“The Artemis II crew is home. The entry, descent, and landing systems performed as designed and the final test was completed as intended. This moment belongs to the thousands of people across fourteen countries who built, tested, and trusted this vehicle.

Their work protected four human lives traveling at 25,000 miles per hour and brought them safely back to Earth,” said NASA Associate Administrator Amit Kshatriya.

“Artemis II proved the vehicle, the teams, the architecture, and the international partnership that will return humanity to the lunar surface. Reid, Victor, Christina, and Jeremy carried the hopes of this world farther than humans have traveled in more than half a century.

Fifty‑three years ago, humanity left the Moon. This time, we returned to stay. The future is ours to win.”

With astronauts aboard for the first time, engineers put Orion through a full in‑flight evaluation. The crew tested the spacecraft’s life support systems, confirming Orion can sustain humans in deep space.

During several piloting demonstrations, crew members took manual control of the spacecraft, flying Orion to validate its handling and collect data that will guide future rendezvous and docking operations with human-rated landers during Artemis III and beyond.

The crew completed a series of tests to inform how NASA will fly future missions to the Moon, including evaluations of how the spacecraft operates during crew exercise, emergency equipment and procedures, the Orion crew survival system spacesuits, and other critical spacecraft systems.

Wiseman, Glover, Koch, and Hansen also supported scientific investigations to help NASA prepare astronauts to live and work on the Moon as the agency builds a Moon Base and looks toward Mars.

These experiments — including the AVATAR investigation, which studies how human tissue responds to microgravity and the deep space radiation environment, and other human research performance studies — are gathering essential health data for long-duration missions.

During their April 6 lunar flyby, the astronauts captured more than 7,000 images of the lunar surface and a solar eclipse, during which the Moon blocked the Sun from Orion’s vantage point.

The imagery includes striking views of earthset and earthrise, impact craters, ancient lava flows, our Milky Way galaxy, and surface fractures and color variations across the lunar terrain.

They documented the topography along the terminator — the boundary between lunar day and night — where low-angle sunlight casts long shadows across the surface, creating illumination conditions similar to those in the South Pole region where astronauts are scheduled to land in 2028.

The crew also proposed potential names for two lunar craters and reported meteoroid impact flashes on the night side of the Moon.

Artemis II science will pave the way for future missions to the Moon’s surface by helping advance mission operations and training astronauts to use well-informed judgment to identify areas of high interest for science and exploration.

With the crew safely on Earth, NASA and its partners now will turn attention to preparing for next year’s Artemis III mission, when a new Orion crew will test integrated operations with commercially built Moon landers in low Earth orbit.

As part of a Golden Age of innovation and exploration, NASA will send Artemis astronauts on increasingly challenging missions to explore more of the Moon for scientific discovery, economic benefits, establish an enduring human presence on the lunar surface, and lay the groundwork for sending the first astronauts – American astronauts – to Mars.

Artemis II Warning: UFO Experts Fear Astronauts Could Bring Aliens Back From Moon

10 April 2026, 12:17 PM BST

NASA's historic Artemis II mission is hurtling towards a high-stakes splashdown off the California coast tonight, bringing a record-setting Lunar odyssey to a fiery conclusion.

The Orion capsule, carrying astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen, is scheduled to hit the Pacific Ocean at approximately 5:07 p.m. PDT on Friday, 10 April 2026.

While the world celebrates the first human voyage to the far side of the Moon in over half a century, a shadow of controversy has emerged from the fringes of the scientific community.

UFO enthusiasts and paranormal researchers are sounding an Artemis II warning, claiming the crew may not be returning to Earth alone.

The 10-day mission has already secured its place in the history books by reaching a maximum distance of 252,756 miles from Earth, officially shattering the long-standing human spaceflight record set by Apollo 13 in 1970.

However, as the Orion capsule moon mission prepares for its final plunge, the technical brilliance of the flight is being rivalled by sensational claims of extraterrestrial interference.

Artemis II Warning Before The Splashdown

The immediate concern for the crew is not extraterrestrial life but physics.

During the final leg home, Orion is due to undergo three trajectory correction burns before re-entering Earth's atmosphere at blistering speed, with the heat shield facing the harshest test of the mission.

NASA coverage and allied reports put that speed at up to 23,839 mph, which helps explain why Glover called the return a ride through a 'fireball' rather than treating it as a routine landing.

'I've actually been thinking about entry since 3 April, 2023, when we got assigned to this mission,' Glover said, adding that he was still processing the journey even with two more days to go.

NASA engineers have closely monitored the spacecraft's Avcoat thermal protection system following erosion issues noted during the uncrewed Artemis I flight.

To mitigate risks, the NASA Orion capsule in 2026 is executing a modified re-entry trajectory to protect the four pioneers aboard.

Despite the intense focus on engineering, the narrative surrounding the splashdown has been hijacked by those who believe the Moon's far side holds more than just craters.

UFO Hunter Robert Pulme Issues 'Alien DNA' Warning

Amidst the official updates, UFO hunter Robert Pulme has sparked a viral debate by suggesting that governments are hiding the true nature of what lies on the lunar surface.

Pulme, who has spent decades investigating paranormal phenomena, claims that this mission could be a turning point for humanity.

'There are very real signs that world governments know more than they let the public know,' Pulme stated, suggesting that alien DNA space mission contamination is a genuine possibility.

Anonymous ID: d658ca April 11, 2026, 9:12 a.m. No.24488861   🗄️.is 🔗kun

>>24488858

He further alleged that extraterrestrial beings are already integrated into society, hiding in plain sight within ordinary roles such as postal workers or shop assistants.

While Pulme offers no empirical evidence for these claims, his comments have tapped into a deep-seated public fascination with the NASA lunar far side flyby.

Other researchers, including Jacques Vallée, have suggested that these entities may not be from another planet at all, but rather from parallel realities that intersect with our own.

Facts Behind The Apollo 13 Distance Record Smash

While the alien theories capture headlines, the verifiable data from the Moon mission's far side is equally staggering. On 6 April, the crew reached a point 4,101 miles farther into deep space than the Apollo 13 crew ever did.

Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen reported that seeing the lunar surface with the naked eye was 'unbelievable', as the crew captured high-resolution imagery of impact craters never before seen in such detail.

The Artemis II splashdown in 2026 marks the first time a crewed vehicle has ventured this far, providing NASA with over 300GB of critical data. This information is vital for the planned 2028 crewed landing.

Unlike the speculative claims of Robert Pulme, these distances and speeds are tracked in real-time by Deep Space Network stations around the globe, providing a solid foundation of fact for a mission that has otherwise inspired a wave of modern myth-making.

The Reality Of The Heat Shield And Alien Evidence Gap

Despite the noise from UFO experts and lunar base theorists, there is currently zero evidence from NASA or independent observers to suggest that any biological life was encountered during the flyby.

Author Anna Whitty has argued that if 'aliens' do exist, they are more likely to be an advanced, ancient human species living in our oceans or caves rather than lunar stowaways.

This perspective aligns with a growing trend of 'interdimensional' or 'terrestrial-origin' theories that move away from traditional space-travel tropes.

As the recovery teams aboard the USS John P. Murtha wait in the Pacific, the focus remains on the safe retrieval of the four astronauts.

Christina Koch's role in the Moon mission, as the first woman to fly to the vicinity of the Moon, is a milestone that stands independently of any paranormal speculation.

The splashdown will be a triumph of human ingenuity, proving that while we may dream of aliens, the real wonder is the ability to navigate the void and return home safely.

FCC Set To "Supercharge" Starlink Space Internet With "Seven-Fold More Capacity"

Friday, Apr 10, 2026 - 09:40 AM

Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr wrote on X that the agency will vote late this month on an order aimed at "supercharging" internet access by scrapping outdated power limits on satellite broadband, unlocking faster speeds, greater capacity, and more reliable service.

On April 30, the FCC will vote on "Modernizing Spectrum Sharing for Satellite Broadband," which would "promote efficient spectrum sharing between geostationary and non-geostationary satellite systems" and, in the FCC's own words, would "unlock more than $32 billion in economic benefits for the American people and up to seven-fold more capacity for space-based broadband services."

FCC explained more:

Drawing from the state-of-the-art in satellite technology, the FCC's new technical rules would revise the decades-old framework for how Geostationary Orbit (GSO) and Non-Geostationary Orbit (NGSO) systems share spectrum.

That 1990s-era framework predates the revolutionary changes in spectrum sharing technology that have been developed in the decades since.

The FCC's new framework will enable faster speeds, lower costs, and greater reliability, representing another step to ensure that consumers benefit from competitive and affordable Internet options.

The move to modernize satellite internet is a big win for consumers, as it will hopefully increase upload and download speeds while lowering access costs.

Beyond consumers, the major winner is SpaceX's Starlink internet company, which has more than 10 million customers worldwide, nearly 4 million of whom are in North America (the US, Canada, and Mexico, with the US making up the vast majority).

The FCC is moving fast to unleash affordable, high-speed Internet. By discarding last century's satellite regulations, we could see billions of dollars in benefits for the American economy and broadband speeds many times faster than what is available today," Carr wrote in a statement.

He continued, "This overdue rethinking of space spectrum sharing rules will bring greater competition to the broadband marketplace and reduce the number of satellites needed to serve a given area."

Great timing on modernizing space internet ahead of the SpaceX IPO, which is currently in nonpublic review with the SEC and slated for a public market listing in June.

Remember when the Biden-Harris regime tried to modernize broadband by spending $42 billion and connecting zero people.

Putin-ordered Easter truce comes into force

11 Apr, 2026 13:14 | Updated 11 Apr, 2026 14:22

The Easter weekend ceasefire announced by Russia has come into force. President Vladimir Putin ordered the nation’s military to halt all operations against Ukrainian forces from 16:00 Moscow time (13:00 GMT) on Saturday until the end of Sunday.

According to the Kremlin, the move is a humanitarian gesture, not a substitute for a lasting peace with Ukraine.

The Russian military will be ready to respond to any Ukrainian offensive operations or provocations, Moscow stated.

“We expect the Ukrainian side to follow Russia’s lead,” the Kremlin said when it announced the ceasefire earlier this week.

Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky responded by claiming that Kiev was “ready for mirror steps.” He also called for a prolonged truce extending beyond the Easter weekend.

“We want not a ceasefire, but a lasting, sustainable peace,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Friday, commenting on the development. He added that peace could be reached if Zelensky “takes responsibility” and makes the necessary decisions.

He was referring to Moscow’s repeated demands that Kiev withdraw its forces from Russia’s Donbass region.

Moscow has said it remains open to negotiations, but insists that any lasting settlement must address the root causes of the conflict. These include Kiev’s neutrality and the reversal of discriminatory policies targeting ethnic Russians and Russian culture.

Russia has previously declared unilateral ceasefires for Orthodox religious holidays. In 2023, it observed truces during the Orthodox Christmas holiday in January and over the Easter weekend in April.

In 2025, Moscow declared an Easter truce, but it was violated by Kiev more than 3,900 times, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.

Russia and Ukraine Trade Drone Strikes Ahead of Easter Truce

April 11, 2026

Russia and Ukraine fired waves of drones at each other late Friday night and early Saturday morning, just hours before a temporary ceasefire between the two was set to take effect for Orthodox Easter, according to officials.

Russia launched at least 160 drones at Ukraine, killing four people in the country's east and south, Ukrainian authorities said.

The southern Odesa region was among the hardest hit, with authorities reporting two dead and damage to civilian infrastructure.

A wave of Ukrainian drones sparked a fire at an oil depot and damaged apartment buildings in Russia's southern Krasnodar region, authorities said.

Two people died in a Ukrainian drone strike on the Russian-occupied part of Ukraine's eastern Donetsk region, Russian-installed authorities said.

The Kremlin ordered a temporary truce from Saturday at 4:00 pm (1300 GMT) until the end of Sunday, for 32 hours.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Kyiv had “repeatedly stated” it was ready for a ceasefire over Easter and willing to reciprocate, but he also said Ukraine would respond “in kind” to any truce violations.

“Ukraine will adhere to the ceasefire and respond strictly in kind. The absence of Russian strikes in the air, on land, and at sea will mean no response from our side,” Zelensky said in a post on X.

Ukrainians, too, have expressed scepticism about whether the truce will hold.

Sudan War: Dozens of Casualties in Darfur Amid Allegations Army Used Drones Against Civilians

11 Apr 2026 at 2:53 PM

The attack that claimed the lives of dozens of civilians in Kutum, North Darfur, has once again cast a spotlight on the nature of the military operations being carried out by the Sudanese army using unmanned aerial vehicles.

Local sources confirmed that the strike was conducted by a Bayraktar TB2 drone, at a time when indications are mounting that the use of this type of weapon is expanding within civilian-populated areas.

Airstrikes carried out by the Sudanese army on a civilian gathering during a wedding ceremony in the Al-Salama district of the Kutum area in Darfur on Wednesday killed more than thirty civilians, including women and children.

Observers believe that the recurrence of such incidents reflects either weaknesses in verification and targeting standards or a clear disregard for the risks posed to civilians.

Suspicious Drone Incident Over Vice President’s Residence Sparks Security Concerns in Lilongwe, Malawi

April 11, 2026

Security personnel attached to the Office of the First Vice President, Justice Jane Ansah, last night intercepted and captured an unidentified drone that was flying over the Vice President’s official residence in Lilongwe—a development that has triggered fresh concerns over the security of protected state installations.

Authorities have confirmed that the drone was detected operating within restricted airspace before security officers moved in to bring it down.

The individual allegedly controlling the device was immediately apprehended at the scene and handed over to the Malawi Police Service for further investigation.

Spokesperson for the Vice President’s office, Richard Mveriwa, confirmed the incident, describing it as a serious breach of security protocol given the sensitivity of the area involved.

“The motive behind flying this drone is not yet known, but I should mention that the person who was controlling this drone has been apprehended by the security personnel,” Mveriwa said.

He added that the area is a designated protected zone where unauthorised aerial surveillance is strictly prohibited, raising immediate questions about intent and possible security implications.

“This is a protected area and drones are not allowed. That is why security officers acted swiftly to capture both the drone and the individual operating it,” he said, referring further inquiries to the Malawi Police Service.

At the time of reporting, police spokesperson Lael Chimtembo could not be reached for comment, while his deputy Alfred Chimthere was also unavailable, leaving key questions unanswered regarding the identity of the suspect, the purpose of the drone activity, and whether it was a targeted surveillance attempt or an isolated breach.

The incident has raised unease within security circles, given that it involved a high-level protected residence and the use of aerial technology capable of surveillance—prompting scrutiny over how the device was able to approach such a sensitive location undetected until interception.

Investigations are expected to establish whether the drone flight was accidental, exploratory, or part of a more coordinated intelligence-gathering attempt targeting a senior

FAA: Anti-Drone Lasers Safe After Texas Closures

Friday, 10 April 2026 06:24 PM EDT

Counter-drone lasers will now be able to be used along the southern border after the Federal Aviation Administration agreed with the Pentagon Friday that they are safe, so additional airspace closures aren't expected.

The FAA and Defense Department have signed an agreement outlining the safety precautions that will be employed when these lasers are used to protect travelers.

Earlier this year, the FAA twice shut down parts of Texas airspace after anti-drone lasers were deployed.

In early February, the FAA closed the airspace around the El Paso airport for several hours after another agency used a counter-drone laser without notifying the aviation safety regulator.

That left many travelers scrambling to find new flights. A second more limited airspace closure followed the military shooting down a drone owned by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

A demonstration of the lasers conducted last month at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico convinced the FAA that they can be used safely.

"We will continue working with our interagency partners to ensure the National Airspace System remains safe while addressing emerging drone threats,” FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford said in a statement.

Lawmakers were concerned about an apparent lack of coordination after the Pentagon allowed Customs and Border Protection to use an anti-drone laser in early February without notifying the FAA.

On Feb. 26 the military used the laser to shoot down a “seemingly threatening” drone flying near the U.S.-Mexico border. It turned out the drone belonged to Customs and Border Protection, lawmakers said.

That led the FAA to close the airspace around Fort Hancock, about 50 miles (80 kilometers) southeast of El Paso.

The Trump administration has said it was working to halt an incursion by Mexican cartel drones. U.S. Army Brigadier General Matt Ross said that this agreement will allow the use of the most advanced tools to defend the homeland.

“By working hand-in-hand with the FAA and our interagency partners, the Department of War is proving that these cutting-edge capabilities are safe, effective, and ready to protect all air travelers from illicit drone use in the national airspace,” Ross said.

Safety Concerns Of UFO Maven Bob Lazar, Plus Element 115 Discussion

Apr 11, 2026, 11:33am EDT Updated Apr 11, 2026, 11:42am EDT

In the first four parts of my interview series with Bob Lazar, we discussed his new movie S4 available on Amazon Prime Video, his disputed claims of working on alien technology at Area 51, his passion for drag racing, Albert Einstein’s laws of physics, the H-Bomb father Dr. Edward Teller, religion, fear and more.

In this fifth part, Lazar dissects the mysterious Element 115 and details threats he says he has received over the years. Following are edited excerpts from a longer Zoom call.

Jim Clash: Earlier you said your group at S4 worked on propulsion and power. What other groups were in the facility?

Bob Lazar: I don't know how many. They purposely compartmentalized information. There was a metallurgy division, for example, that we couldn't communicate with. If we wanted to discuss something, maybe how that group's work could affect what we were doing, extensive paperwork needed to be submitted. Free discussion is critical in science. If you cut that off, it's like cutting off your legs before a race. It was a terrible research environment, but with extremely high security.

Editor’s Note: Bob Lazar’s claims of work on alien technology and details about the S4 complex at Area 51 are unverified and denied by the U.S. government, and remain a matter of debate among experts and skeptics.

Clash: I'm guessing there was an urgency to what you were doing.

Lazar: When I consulted with my supervisor, Dennis, he made it clear there were two directives: 1) duplicate the power and propulsion system of this alien craft at any cost, and 2) find out how to disable that power and propulsion system - at any cost.

While working in the lab, Dennis would come in like four times a day: "What's going on, what's going on?" Hey, it's not like we're pouring concrete here [laughs]. I've never had a job like that. In hindsight, I see why so little progress was made.

The compartmentalization clearly was to keep any one group from seeing the bigger picture.

Clash: Element 115, which you say powered the craft, can currently be produced for less than a second in a particle accelerator. Yet the 115 chip you say you found in the craft is stable. Explain.

Lazar: All elements have stable and unstable isotopes. The way we try to make super-heavy elements like 115 is to take atoms and blast them together in particle accelerators.

If something flies out and we can measure it as it's disintegrating, we made a new isotope of an element.

But it's not like we can actually assemble it, choose how many neutrons go in. Some elements have 32 or 33 isotopes.

There's a stable version of 115 that has unique properties, and probably plenty of unstable versions that are useless. We don't know how to make 115 in a stable form yet.

Clash: I understand stable and unstable isotopes. But it may be too complicated for the average Joe.

Lazar: Okay, let's make it simple. Take the lightest element, Hydrogen. There are three isotopes: Proteum with one proton, stable; Deuterium, heavy hydrogen with one proton and one neutron, stable.

Tritium, the third isotope, one proton and two neutrons, is radioactive and therefore unstable and used in glow-in-the-dark products. But these isotopes are all Hydrogen.

Clash: Have you been threatened since leaving S4?

Lazar: After I went on TV with journalist George Knapp, and mentioned what I had done at S4, my supervisor called and said, "Do you have any idea what we're going to do to you?" I said, "No," and he hung up. That was a threat.

I don't know if this next incident was a threat, but a car on Charleston Blvd in Las Vegas kept trying to get alongside me, like it was racing me. One guy suddenly hung out of the passenger side with a gun, and shot the back tire of my car.

I went off into the dirt, and they continued on the highway. Now this may just have been gangbangers, and an amazing coincidence, but it had the same frightening effect on me.

Clash: Any other incidents?

Lazar: Sometimes people would come into my locked house when my wife and I weren't there and move things around. But our wallets were still there. Nothing was stolen. Sometimes we'd lock our car and later all of the doors would be open.

We started getting worried that something was connected to the car and would blow up at a certain speed. So we're suddenly looking under the car for wires. I began carrying an Uzi submachine gun in the car [laughs]. I was ready to fight back.

Editor’s Note: Accounts of threats, surveillance and other incidents have not been independently corroborated by law enforcement or reporting and represent personal testimonials from his perspective.

Tim Burchett to Stephen A. Smith on UFO sightings: ‘It’s not Independence Day’

April 10, 2026 4:01pm EST | Updated April 10, 2026 4:01pm EST

Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) told podcaster Stephen A. Smith what aliens may look like based on UFO briefings he’s been a part of on Straight Shooter with Stephen A. Wednesday.

Smith asked Burchett, “You’ve seen Independence Day, you’ve seen aliens, you’ve seen a few things. What do they look like?”

“It’s not Independence Day, I’ll tell you that,” Burchett said.

“It’s not about little green men, it’s not about flying saucers. It’s about what are they spending tens of, maybe billions of, your tax dollars on? If it doesn’t exist, why are they studying it?”

Burchett added that if UFOs, which the government calls unidentified anomalous phenomena, do exist, then there needs to be disclosure and transparency about the information.

He also said he thinks President Donald Trump will bring this information to light. Burchett said he had a conversation with White House officials and that “hopefully some things will be coming out soon.”

Watch: Odd UFO Filmed Floating Over Mexican City

April 10, 2026

A spellbound witness in Mexico captured footage of an odd white orb spotted floating across the sky over a city.

The puzzling sighting, detailed to the National UFO Reporting Center, occurred this past Monday morning in the community of Ojo de Agua.

According to the witness, he had been "working by the window" when he gazed up at the sky and noticed "this shape that was changing like a worm and moving strangely."

In his video from the sighting, the man can be heard exhorting a nearby friend to look at the unusual object overhead and marveling that the white orb was not an airplane because it "keeps changing shape."

As for what the weird object could have been, setting aside the extraterrestrial hypothesis, some observers have suggested that the UFO was merely an errant balloon or perhaps a drone.

What do you think the witness filmed in Ojo de Agua on Monday? Share your best guess with us at the C2C Facebook page.

Mysterious Flashes in 1950s Skies Linked to Nuclear Tests and UAP Sightings: Study

Apr 10, 2026

A new statistical analysis of archival sky surveys from the early Cold War has found that mysterious, short-lived bursts of light in the night sky were more likely to appear around the time of above-ground nuclear weapons tests and to increase alongside reports of unexplained aerial phenomena (UAPs).

“Transient star-like objects have been identified in sky surveys conducted prior to the launch of the first artificial satellite on October 4, 1957,” said Dr. Beatriz Villarroel of the Nordic Institute for Theoretical Physics (Nordita) and Dr. Stephen Bruehl from the Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

“These short-lived transients — lasting less than one exposure time of 50 min — have point spread functions and are absent in images taken shortly before the transients appear and in all images from subsequent surveys.”

“In some cases multiple transients appear in a single image, exhibiting characteristics not easily accounted for by prosaic explanations (e.g., gravitational lensing, gamma ray bursts, fragmenting asteroids, plate defects).”

As part of their VASCO (Vanishing and Appearing Sources during a Century of Observations) project, Dr. Villarroel and Dr. Bruehl identified more than 100,000 short-lived, star-like ‘transients’ on photographic plates from the first Palomar Observatory Sky Survey, conducted between 1949 and 1957.

They then compared the timing of these flashes with records of 124 above-ground nuclear tests and thousands of reported UAP sightings.

“Of the 2,718 days in this period, transients were observed on 310 days (11.4%),” they said.

“In the overall sample, the number of transients per date ranged from 0 to 4,528, across multiple locations on multiple plates.”

“Above-ground nuclear weapons tests (US, Soviet, and British) were conducted on 124 days (4.6%) during the study period.”

“UAP reports were recorded in the UFOCAT database on 2,428 days during the study period (89.3%).”

The researchers found that the transients were about 45% more likely to occur on days within a one-day window of a nuclear test than on other days.

The effect was strongest the day after a test, when the likelihood of observing a transient rose by roughly 68%.

The study also reported a modest correlation between the number of transients and the number of UAP sightings recorded on the same date.

For each additional sighting report, the number of transients increased by about 8.5%, on average.

The team’s findings do not establish what the transients are, nor do they demonstrate a causal connection, but they challenge some conventional explanations.

The transients do not resemble defects caused by dust or radioactive contamination on photographic plates, the scientists note, and their timing — particularly the peak one day after nuclear tests — does not fit simple scenarios like debris from explosions.

Instead, the authors outline two broad possibilities.

One is that nuclear detonations may have triggered previously unrecognized atmospheric phenomena capable of producing brief, point-like flashes.

The other, more speculative, is that some transients could reflect objects at high altitude or in orbit — potentially related to the same events that generated UAP sightings.

The researchers emphasize that both ideas remain unproven.

“Our findings provide additional empirical support for the validity of the UAP phenomenon and its potential connection to nuclear weapons activity, contributing data beyond eyewitness reports,” they said.

“The possibility that some transients may represent UAP events in orbit captured on photographic plates prior to the launch of the first artificial satellite cannot be ruled out.”

“This study adds to the small peer-reviewed literature seeking to apply systematic scientific methods to the study of UAP-related data.”

“The ultimate importance of the associations reported in the current work for enhancing understanding of transients and UAP remains to be determined.”

A paper on the findings was published on October 20, 2025 in the journal Scientific Reports.

What Happened Inside Congress’ Classified UAP Briefing?

April 10, 2026

A March 25 congressional meeting in a SCIF is now at the center of a growing mystery involving classified intelligence, vanishing scientists, and demands for disclosure

A classified UAP briefing quietly took place inside a secure congressional facility (or a SCIF) on March 25, according to Rep. Eric Burlison, who described the session as one of the most bipartisan topics in Washington.

Burlison has been vocal about demanding transparency and cutting through the misinformation around what must be classified. He posted a statement on April 7: “Contrary to what you may have heard, Congress can lawfully receive classified UFO information.

No one has been imprisoned, let alone prosecuted or sued, for disclosing classified information to Members of Congress in a secure setting.”

The closed-door meeting comes as scrutiny intensifies around the bizarre disappearance of retired Air Force General Neil McCasland, an aerospace insider who holds significant knowledge related to unidentified phenomena.

While neither the FBI nor the White House has publicly made any statement connecting the recently reported mysterious deaths or disappearances of multiple scientists in the aerospace field, the patterns have been hard to ignore.

Rep. Tim Burchett, another congressional leading voice on UFO transparency, has not directly addressed the specific briefing but has repeatedly hinted that what lawmakers are seeing behind closed doors is far more significant than what the public has been told.

He’s also hinted that McCasland’s disappearance was brought up during the briefing. Rep. Burchett’s office did not respond to Los Angeles request for a comment.

What exactly was discussed in the 3/25 SCIF remains classified. In fact, the first time the meeting was mentioned on network news, was on NewsNation’s Jesse Weber Live, with Los Angeles making the mention. UAP experts took note.

Rep. Burlison’s office told Los Angeles, “Unfortunately, we don’t have an update on Gen. McCasland. Out of respect for his family, we don’t want to speculate. We are not aware of whether any administration official has been asked about his disappearance.”

The meeting comes amid the aforementioned disappearance of retired U.S. Air Force Major General Neil McCasland, 68. McCasland vanished under bizarre circumstances on February 27, 2026, from his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

This was mere days after President Trump announced on Truth Social that he planned to release classified UAP information. According to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office, McCasland disappeared within roughly a one-hour window while his wife was out of the house.

After he reportedly met with a hired repairman, he walked out of his home and was last seen around 11:00 a.m. His phone, glasses and wearable devices were left behind, but other items (including his wallet and a firearm) were missing.

Investigators have said there is no confirmed evidence of foul play, though the FBI joined an extensive search effort.

McCasland is not a typical missing person: he previously commanded the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, overseeing billions in advanced aerospace and weapons research, including highly classified space and materials programs.

Wright-Patterson also reportedly holds extraterrestrial debris from the Roswell crash of 1947.

A recently surfaced 911 call placed by McCasland’s wife on the day he vanished offers one of the few real-time glimpses into the moment the situation unfolded.

In the call, she can be heard telling dispatchers that her husband was missing from their home and that his sudden disappearance was out of character, given the fact that he didn’t bring his phone or glasses.

She mentioned that he had been experiencing some “brain or mental fog” that had frustrated him, and also suggested that perhaps her husband “didn’t want to be found.”

She also mentioned he changed clothes before leaving the home, offering more of a motive that perhaps McCasland left on his own. But why?

While the other bizarre deaths or disappearances of scientists connected to UAP research may seem like a conspiracy or a stretch in connecting the dots, there’s one that’s difficult to deny. Monica Reza.

In June 2025, aerospace engineer Monica Reza, an alloy materials rocket scientist who worked on Air Force-funded rocket technology (she reportedly co-patented the Mondaloy), vanished while hiking in California’s Angeles National Forest.

Reza reportedly worked alongside McCasland at Wright-Patterson. Witnesses said she was walking just 30 steps behind another hiker when she suddenly disappeared, seemingly into thin air.

Reza had ties to research programs connected to McCasland’s work, including advanced propulsion and materials development. Despite search efforts involving helicopters, canines and federal resources, she has never been found.

Former FBI official Chris Swecker said in a Fox News appearance that, based on past cases involving sensitive national security information, it is within the realm of possibility that researchers could be abducted and tortured for classified knowledge.

However, there is no evidence to suggest that either Neil McCasland or Monica Reza was subjected to anything of that nature.

Los Angeles has also been focused on the mysterious murder of Caltech Astrophysicist Carl Grillmair, who was shot and killed at his home in February of 2026. Grillmair was known for his work on galaxies and the search for water on distant planets.

The circumstances of Grillmair’s murder is chilling as the alleged perpetrator, Freddy Snyder, was seen on his property with a rifle in December of 2025, arrested and charged with a felony, but was released on his own recognizance with the felony charge being dropped just weeks later. Grillmair lived in an isolated area because, according to colleagues, it was “unobstructed by city lights, the desert offered clear views of the cosmos at night.” As a result, Los Angeles believes he may have been targeted.

But why? And why was his alleged killer allowed to walk free just weeks earlier after allegedly trespassing with a rifle? When Los Angeles reached out to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, officials declined to comment.

Grillmair’s wife, Louise, told NewsNation that she did not believe her husband’s death was connected to the other scientists.

While a number of deaths and disappearances involving individuals in aerospace, defense, and scientific research have recently come to light, there is no direct evidence that any of these cases are connected.

Still, several incidents, some confirmed, others less clear, have, of course, fueled rumors (and rightfully so):

  • Frank Maiwald: A longtime systems engineer and principal researcher at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), Maiwald worked on spaceflight instrumentation and remote sensing technologies. He died in 2024, with no cause of death listed, and reportedly no autopsy. He also reportedly worked alongside Michael Hicks (mentioned below).

  • Nuno Loureiro: A prominent physicist and director at the MIT Plasma Science and Fusion Center, Loureiro is a well-known figure in nuclear fusion research who was shot and killed at his home (in December 2025) by the Brown University mass shooter, Claudio Neves.

  • Jason Thomas: Reports have circulated online about a Massachusetts-based pharmaceutical researcher found dead in a lake in March 2026. At this time, no widely confirmed or reputable reporting substantiates this case with clear details, making it unverified.

  • Anthony Chavez: A reported employee or affiliate of Los Alamos National Laboratory who allegedly disappeared in 2025.

  • Melissa Casias: A Los Alamos National Laboratory administrative employee who was reported missing in New Mexico in 2025. Her disappearance was bizarre as she was last seen walking along a highway. Los Angeles does not believe her disappearance is connected to the others as Casias held an administrative position with Los Alamos, and was said to be having private financial issues.

  • Michael David Hicks: A planetary scientist affiliated with JPL and NASA who contributed to asteroid research, including work related to planetary defense missions. He died in 2023 with no cause of death listed, and no autopsy was reported.

Los Angeles also spoke with Dr. William J. “Bill” Birnes, a prominent ufologist, New York Times bestselling author, and publisher best known as the lead host and consultant on the History Channel series UFO Hunters.

Birnes has doubts that President Trump will disclose anything surrounding UAPs or classified information regarding the 1947 Roswell Crash. “Does Donald Trump have the authority to release the UFO files? Let’s go back to the presidency of Bill Clinton.

When Bill Clinton first took office, he made an announcement that he was asking his Deputy Attorney General, Webster Hubbell, to research two things: what happened at Roswell and who killed JFK?

Hubbell came back and told Bill Clinton, who announced this, by the way, to the world….There’s a government within the government. That’s what Bill Clinton said. But who is that government? That was Bill Clinton’s attempt to release.

Then-President Barack Obama was asked by Seth Meyers on late-night television, ‘What do you know about Roswell?’ Here’s what President Obama said, ‘They tell me not to talk about it.’

Who’s the they? If Bill Clinton couldn’t talk about it, if Barack Obama couldn’t talk about it, can Donald Trump talk about it?”

Whatever was said inside that March 25 briefing remains classified for now. But the stories of those who vanished, and what they may have known, continue to demand answers.
