The only reason that the dems are throwing Swalwell under the bus, is because currently the two top runners in the CA Gubernatorial race are both republicans. California does things differently where the top 2 on the ticket make it to the final election. Democrats need to ditch Swalwell so that they can get at least 1 democrat in the top 2.
This is about keeping control of the California governor's mansion, not about "me too". Democrats only care about staying in power, and will throw their own under the bus when needed in order to keep said power.
