Financier shocks CNN panel by sharing shock conspiracy theory about Pope Leo and Obama: 'Connect the dots'
A financier shocked a CNN panel with an alleged conspiracy by Pope Leo XIV and Barack Obama to bring down President Donald Trump.
Point Bridge Capital CEO Hal Lambert peddled the Chicago-centric conspiracy during his Monday appearance on the NewsNight with Abby Phillip program.
The MAGA-supporting executive accused Leo, the former president and CNN Chief Political Analyst David Axelrod, who previously served on Obama's White House staff, of trying to take down the Republican Party ahead of the midterm election.
'This is 100 percent political, ok? This is all about trying to hurt President Trump's Catholic vote during the midterms and Republicans in the midterms,' Lambert said.
'If you look at what - play out the dots here… David Axelrod goes and visits Pope Leo last week. They're talking about Obama going to visit Pope Leo.'
Lambert, citing how Leo is also a Chicago-native, continued: 'All of a sudden, now, Pope Leo is out attacking Trump and the policies of the United States and Israel…
'You have three cardinals come out today, attacking the immigration policy. This is all about trying to get the Catholic vote against Trump.'
Phillip interrupted Lambert to criticize his argument, pointing out that it had a 'lot of flaws'.
But the financier was relentless, telling her: 'There's no flaws. Axelrod is the chief strategist for Obama. The pope is saying he's not political. Why is he meeting with the chief strategist for both Obama's campaigns and in the White House?'
CNN commentator Bakari Sellers chimed in, suggesting that Leo was meeting with them because 'he's from Chicago.'
Phillip also pointed out how one of the late Pope Francis's final meetings before his death was wife Vice President JD Vance.
'Pope Francis met with,' she said. 'Pope Francis was extremely critical of-'
Lambert interrupted her again: 'JD Vance is the vice president of the United States.'
