>Well.. I mean.. they're gonna tire out eventually?

Isn't that literally how humans rose to dominance? Because our locomotion is vastly more efficient than any other animal.

I just can't get behind such a notion. The arrogance breeds complacency which results in what we see today, with a population so sure of it's place that very nearly every one is entirely negligent of the potential of the fall.

Rather I would posit that we have become what we are because the nature of the human animal is to desire to strive and achieve the creation of a world which is more sympathetic to our sentiments. From such a perspective as that we can both recognize where we have come from, the potential for returning to that place should we fail to maintain what we have accomplished, and then from there the opportunity to continue to pursue even further achievements.
