Southern Poverty Law Center says it faces a Justice Department criminal probe over paid informants

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Southern Poverty Law Center says it’s the subject of a criminal investigation by the Justice Department and faces possible charges over its past use of paid informants to infiltrate extremist groups.

The civil rights group made the announcement on Tuesday, saying President Donald Trump’s administration appears to be preparing legal action against it or some of its employees.

“Although we don’t know all the details, the focus appears to be on the SPLC’s prior use of paid confidential informants to gather credible intelligence on extremely violent groups,” CEO Bryan Fair said in a statement.

The Justice Department had no immediate comment.

The Southern Poverty Law Center previously paid informants to infiltrate extremist groups and gather information on their activities, often sharing it with local and federal law enforcement, Fair said. It was used to monitor threats of violence, he said, adding that the program was kept quiet to protect the safety of informants.

The War Department is once again restoring freedom to our Joint Force.

We are discarding the mandatory flu vaccine requirement, effective immediately.

Multiple sources tell me that a credible whistleblower complaint was filed alleging the CIA, FBI and other IC agencies suppressed intelligence about China’s influence operations during the 2020 election targeting President Trump and his campaign.

Based on my reporting, China’s goal was to “impede” President Trump’s re-election and "denigrate" him as a candidate. I understand the DNI is actively working to declassify the records.

According to these accounts, the CIA, then led by Director Gina Haspel, would not document the Chinese influence operations, in a formal way, out of concern that President Trump would use the intelligence to his advantage.

Based on the complaint, senior intelligence officials are accused of heavy-handed editing of the whistleblower’s reports about China’s sweeping influence operations during the 2020 election cycle.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Two Americans killed in a vehicle crash as they returned from destroying a clandestine drug lab in a rugged region of Mexico over the weekend were working for the CIA, according to a U.S. official and two other people familiar with matter.

Two Mexican investigators also were killed in the crash, which Mexican authorities said occurred while the officials were returning from an operation to destroy drug labs of criminal groups.

The CIA’s involvement was confirmed Tuesday by a U.S. official and two people with knowledge of the crash who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive intelligence matters. The identity of the two Americans as CIA officers was earlier reported by The Washington Post.

Declassified National Intelligence Memorandum Shows US Adversaries Had Capability to Compromise US Election Infrastructure and Much More

A newly declassified National Intelligence Council (NIC) memo titled “Vulnerabilities in U.S. 2020 Election Infrastructure” from January 15, 2020, was published by Just The News. The memo was declassified by the Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, on March 16, 2026.

The concerns raised by the NIC were enough to warrant officials briefing President Trump in February 2020, a month after the report was released, according to reporting from Just the News.

The “Key Takeaway” from the memo states, “We assess that at least Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea have the capability to access and potentially manipulate data in U.S. election-related computer systems,” while acknowledging they were not aware of any “specific plans” to do so.

The report also acknowledges “nonstate groups” as having the capability to gain access to the critical infrastructure.

L.A. sends a message to its cops – your lives aren't worth even minimal jailtime for cop-killers

What passes for justice in Los Angeles.

In the latest travesty of justice, a jackass who plowed into 75 jogging sheriff and police trainees got no jailtime and only a temporary suspension of his driver's license, even though he struck and injured 24 men, 10 seriously with loss of limbs, head trauma, and broken bones, and killed one.

A 25-year-old Diamond Bar man pleaded guilty to causing a 2022 wrong-way crash that killed one L.A. County Sheriff’s Department recruit and injured dozens of others while they were on an early morning training run in South Whittier, officials said.

Nicholas Joseph Gutierrez will receive an eight-year suspended sentence and five years of probation after pleading guilty Monday to one count of vehicular manslaughter and nine counts of reckless driving, according to a statement released by the L.A. County district attorney’s office.

The plea bars Gutierrez from driving for five years. If he violates the terms of his probation, he would have to serve his entire prison sentence, prosecutors said.

So no jailtime and at the end of five years, he gets his drivers license back, and with only three additional years of staying out of trouble required.

Five years for taking an innocent man's life, all because he could not drive responsibly. That's what passes for 'justice' in Los Angeles.
