Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) CEO and Chairman Devin Nunes is leaving the organization to prioritize his role on the President's Intelligence Advisory Board, after catapulting the Truth Social platform into a global brand built on free speech, Just the News has learned.
Kevin McGurn, a veteran corporate executive, will take over leadership of the company on an interim basis, the company announced Tuesday evening.
Nunes, a former California congressman, played a crucial role in building Truth Social into a free speech platform during an era of Biden administration-driven censorship aided by Big Tech companies.
He led the company through the launch of Truth Social and long-delayed merger with Digital World that saw it become a public company on the stock exchange. He has since spearheaded efforts for the company to diversify, by investing in AI, nuclear energy, and cryptocurrency. He also helped launch a new streaming TV platform called Truth+.
Nunes credited the president for pushing to create an independent social and media company to combat cancel culture in Silicon Valley and Washington.
"President Trump started Trump Media due to the suppression of free speech online by tech oligarchs," Nunes said in a statement. "In response, we built a team and launched a global social media platform, Truth Social, developing our own infrastructure in order to make our services uncancellable and to restore free expression for millions of Americans."
Prior to joining TMTG, Nunes served as Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee from 2015 through 2019 and was ranking member until 2022. He has served as chairman of the President's Intelligence Advisory Board since January 2025.
During his time in Congress, Nunes led a number of oversight efforts targeting the Intelligence Community under President Barack Obama and played the key role in unraveling the now discredited Russia-collusion case that the FBI pursued against Trump.
At PIAB, he has worked closely with Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and CIA Director John Ratcliffe to declassify bombshell revelations about intelligence abuses as well as spur reforms to spy agencies that have become increasingly politicized over the last decade.
For instance, Nunes' team recently worked with Ratcliffe as the CIA recalled more than a dozen intelligence analyses that did not meet spy tradecraft standards, a powerful rebuke of past leadership at the Agency.
