Texas can require public schools to display the Ten Commandments in classrooms, US appeals court rules

Texas can require the Ten Commandments to be displayed in public school classrooms, a U.S. appeals court ruled Tuesday in a victory for conservatives who have long sought to incorporate more religion into schools.

It sets up a potential clash at the U.S. Supreme Court over the issue in the future.(they just made that up, the media is paying someone to challenge it.)

The 5th Circuit Court of Appeals said in the decision that the law did not violate the First Amendment, which protects religious freedom and prevents the government from establishing a religion.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, a Republican, called the ruling “a major victory for Texas and our moral values.”

“The Ten Commandments have had a profound impact on our nation, and it’s important that students learn from them every single day,” Paxton said.

Organizations representing the families who challenged the law, including the American Civil Liberties Union, said in a statement that they were “extremely disappointed” by the decision.

“The court’s ruling goes against fundamental First Amendment principles and binding U.S. Supreme Court authority. The First Amendment safeguards the separation of church and state, and the freedom of families to choose how, when and if to provide their children with religious instruction. This decision tramples those rights,” the statement said.

The law is among the pushes by Republicans, including President Donald Trump, to incorporate religion into public schools. Critics say it violates the separation of church and state while backers argue that the Ten Commandments are historical and part of the foundation of U.S. law.

The ruling, which reverses a district court’s judgment, comes after the full court heard arguments in January in the Texas case and a similar case in Louisiana. The appeals court in February cleared the way for Louisiana’s law, requiring displays of the Ten Commandments in public school classrooms. The 5th Circuit Court of Appeals voted 12-6 to lift a block that a lower court first placed on the law in 2024.

Texas’ law took effect on Sept. 1, marking the largest attempt in the nation to hang the Ten Commandments in public schools. About two dozen school districts had been barred from posting them after federal judges issued injunctions in two cases against the law but went up in many classrooms across the state as districts paid to have the posters printed themselves or accepted donations.

Everyone knows that, as an example, Birthright Citizenship, which is Unconditional and Absent from any other developed or successful Country, is a disaster for the United States of America. No Country can be successful with such an anchor wrapped firmly around its neck but, based on the questioning by Republican Nominated Justices that I watched firsthand in the Court, we lose. As another example, if the Supreme Court put in one sentence stating that any money paid in Tariffs to the United States of America, to this point, does not have to be returned (to many people who hate our Country!), they would have saved American Taxpayers a minimum of $159 Billion Dollars. All they had to do was read the Dissent, written by Justice Kavanaugh, it was a close call, it wasn’t a 9-0 decision — What a difference it would have made for our Country. A comely MAGA influencer who racked up millions of fans on Instagram who posted patriotic content and often posed in a bikini while ice fishing, drinking Coors Light, and shooting guns has been unmasked — as an Indian man who put himself through med school on the proceeds.

“Sam,” a 22-year-old orthopedic surgeon in training, told WIRED that he got the idea to sell AI-generated images of a young woman in a bikini while scrounging for money in school — and trying to save up enough to emigrate to the US after graduation.

He turned to Google’s Gemini AI for advice and decided to create a “hot girl” crafted specifically for the “MAGA/conservative niche,” after the software told him that “the conservative audience (especially older men in the US) often has higher disposable income and is more loyal,” according to WIRED.

And that’s how Emily Hart was born.

According to her profile, she was a registered nurse with Jennifer Lawrence looks who offered red meat posts to lonely conservative men online.

One post showed her firing a rifle with the caption: “If you want a reason to unfollow: Christ is king, abortion is murder, and all illegals must be deported,” and “POV: You were assigned intelligent at birth, but you identify as liberal.”

Sam told the magazine, “Every day I’d write something pro-Christian, pro-Second Amendment, pro-life, anti-abortion, anti-woke, and anti-immigration.”

The account “blew up,” and Emily Hart had 10,000 followers within a month.

Every reel he posted garnered millions of views and earned him more followers.….

President Trump has told confidants that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is "begging" for a job in Trump's administration — including attorney general — Axios has learned.

DeSantis also has expressed interest in being secretary of defenseandeven a spot on the U.S. Supreme Court, according to six sources briefed on the discussions.

Why it matters: DeSantis has to leave office at the end of his second term in January and is "looking for what to do next," according to one source who said Trump is inclined to consider helping out his understudy-turned-rival-turned-friend.

Inside the room: DeSantis' future was on the menu after the two men had lunch at Trump National Doral Golf Club in Miami a week ago Sunday.

"Ron was begging me to be AG," Trump told one confidant, who relayed the remark to Axios.

Said another source: "There was a conversation at that lunch.I don't think AG is real. But he's gonna be looking for work and Trump likes him."

The White House and a spokesperson for DeSantis declined to comment.

"DeSantis is 100% not interested in the AG job, but hewould be interested in two things: War secretary or Supreme Court, which would be his dream job," said another source familiar with the discussions.

DeSantis and conservative Justice Clarence Thomas, that source said, "almost have a father-son relationship and would be a hell of a legacy for Trump."

The intrigue: DeSantis waged a bitter — but brief — primary bid in the 2024 presidential cycle against Trump, whose campaign andWhite House are stocked with critics of the governor.

"Bygones are bygones," said one Trump adviser. "But that doesn't mean people forget."

Said another: "There's big reason the president wouldn't pick Ron to be his attorney general:

There's a way-too-high chance he would try to f*ck the president over."

"Trump needs someone at Justice he absolutely trusts. But the Defense Department of Supreme Court or something else? Sure."
