Years ago, I found that using a tone generator, when turning my head in certain directions, at about 58hz I could cancel it out. It was directional. I shared it with a university that was doing research on it, but never heard back from them. I believe it's a radio frequency.

The ringing in my ears may be different, it began at a rifle range where I was adjusting my ear muffs and the guy next to me fired his weapon.
