Geologists have announced that the Appalachian Mountains could be hiding a sprawling multi-billion-dollar cache of lithium that could last the US hundreds of years.

“This research shows that the Appalachians contain enough lithium to help meet the nation’s growing needs,” declared US Geological Survey Director Ned Mamula in a statement.

According to a map by the institution, this East Coast mountain range houses around 2.5 metric tons of this battery precursor, most of which is concentrated in the Carolinas, Maine and New Hampshire. Total value: around $64.4B dollars.

With this recent mineral motherlode, USGS officials estimate that we could supply 1.6 million grid-scale batteries — enough to power 130 million electric vehicles or supply 180 billion laptops for a collective thousands of years of global use.

It could also fuel 500 billion cellphones, the equivalent of 60 devices for every person on Earth.

All told, this haul is enough to replace 328 years of imports at least year’s level, providing “a major contribution to U.S. mineral security, at a time when global lithium demand is rising rapidly,” said Mamula.

Hakeem Jeffries calls the Supreme Court "illegitimate" after it rules 6-3 that race-based congressional districts are unconstitutional

"This isn't even the Roberts Court. This is the Trump Court. And what we would expect from the Trump Court is an effort to continue their scheme to suppress the vote and rig the midterm elections and beyond."

NOBODY IS TELLING YOU THE REAL STORY OF THE SCOTUS VOTING RIGHTS RULING

Yes, the Court ruled 6-3.

Yes, race-based districting is now unconstitutional.

Yes, Louisiana's map got thrown out.

But here's the part everyone is missing:

Democrats don't have a House majority without those court-ordered maps.

→ A dozen of their current seats sit in districts that only exist because federal courts FORCED states to draw them

→ Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina — every one has at least one Democrat seat in a court-created black-majority district

→ Their House margin is FOUR seats

→ SCOTUS just made 12 of their 213 seats legally redrawable

→ Republican-led legislatures don't need new voters — they need a redistricting committee and a Tuesday afternoon

If race-based districts are unconstitutional, then Louisiana redraws.

If Louisiana redraws, then Alabama redraws.

If Alabama redraws, then every Southern state redraws.

If every Southern state redraws, the Democrat House majority was a 60-year courtroom artifact — not an election result.

That's what nobody is saying out loud.

The 2026 midterms were just decided 6-3 — six months before Election Day.

if you're not following me you're finding out about this 48 hours late from someone who read my post..

FIRST ON FOX: State education agencies in Vermont have paid over $566,000 in damages and legal fees to a Christian school that was banned from all sports and academic competitions for two years after its girls' basketball team refused to compete against a trans athlete in 2023.

A settlement agreement following mediation was finalized on Tuesday that awarded the plaintiffs, including the Mid Vermont Christian School and its law firm Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), the $566,000.

The settlement comes after a years-long saga in which all the school's sports teams, and even its academic teams, like spelling bee and mathletes, had to travel out of state to compete against other schools.

The conflict dates back to an afternoon early in the 2023 school year at Mid Vermont Christian, when the school decided to forfeit a girls’ basketball postseason game against a team with a trans athlete.

Their Christian faith was more important to them than a game. But it was still a hard call, and it brought some tears.

"We were all in agreement that the right decision was to not compromise our beliefs and to withdraw, but the conversation with the players was the hardest," Mid Vermont Christian girls' basketball coach Chris Goodwin told Fox News Digital.

"Because you play a 20-game season, and you put in the work and the expectation is that you enter the postseason tournament with a shot to see how you're going to do and to see how far you can get. So there were some teary eyes, and some sad faces, but in the end, they all really did understand that it was the right thing to do."

But it was about to get much harder for not just the team, but for the entire school of about 111 students.

Within days of the forfeit, they learned the consequences escalated far beyond a single game. The Vermont Principals’ Association banned the school, not just from basketball, but from all athletics and a range of academic competitions.

"Almost immediately… they came out very strongly," Goodwin said. "We were going to be banned from all athletic competition in the state… and then on top of that… science fairs and spelling bees."

What followed was not a single lost season, but years of dislocation. The school was forced to arrange competitions with schools out of state just to make sure their extracurricular programs could continue.

Instead of short bus rides to nearby schools, teams traveled hours across state lines. Familiar rivalries disappeared. Home gyms sat quieter.

Thanks to a series of recently approved laws, state agencies and local governments in the Sunshine State will no longer be allowed to spend any taxpayer money on “diversity, equity, and inclusion” (DEI) schemes.

Spending by local governments for “climate change,” “net zero,” the “Green New Deal,” “environmental, social, and governance” (ESG), and “sustainability” programs is also officially verboten.

The two pieces of legislation, backed by Governor Ron DeSantis and signed into law last week, are a continuation of Florida’s efforts to expand freedom and destroy what the governor refers to as “woke” ideology, his office said.

“Floridians should not be forced to pay for radical climate agendas or identity politics with their hard-earned tax dollars,” said DeSantis, a Republican, in a statement about the laws.

The “important bills,” continued the governor, “limit government overreach and prevent local authorities from imposing carbon taxes and discriminatory DEI mandates on Floridians.”

The first bill, SB 1134, prohibits local and county government funding, promotion, or implementation of any “DEI” initiatives. It also bans DEI offices, bureaucrats, or programs. And it prohibits any tax funding for DEI-related schemes.

That means no more “diversity” training, no more “preferential treatment” for certain skin tones or sexual aberrations, and no more ideological extremism masquerading as support for “oppressed” classes.

At the same ceremony at Florida State College in Jacksonville, Governor DeSantis also signed HB 1217 to rein in abuses by local authorities justified under the guise of “green” policies or “climate change.”

Among other provisions, the new law prevents state and local governments from adopting or enforcing “greenhouse gas” emissions policies or targets. It also bans taxes, fees, and penalties on carbon dioxide.
