Meta lost 20 million users last quarter

Meta is planning to pump billions more into AI investments this year, despite noting that millions of users have seemingly started to abandon its platforms. In an earning call on Wednesday, Meta reported that figures for “Family daily active people” — the term Meta has coined for all collective users of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, or Messenger — declined by 20 million this quarter compared to the previous three months.

Meta attributes this fall to “internet disruptions in Iran, as well as a restriction on access to WhatsApp in Russia.” It’s up to you whether you take Meta on its word, given that by bundling the user stats together across all its platforms, we can’t tell which ones are most impacted. If I wanted to obscure that a leading social platform was potentially hemorrhaging daily users, that’s certainly what I would do.

This drop comes as Meta says it’s increasing its projected capital expenditures for 2026 to a range of $125-145 billion, $10 billion more than previous estimates. This increased spending is driven by expectations for higher component pricing and, “to a lesser extent,” additional costs for future data center capacity. This is a course correction, according to Meta’s chief financial officer Susan Li, who said in the investor call that Meta had “underestimated our compute demand in the past.”

Meta’s revenue also experienced its fastest growth since 2021, increasing by 33 percent, from $42.3 billion this time last year to $56.3 billion this quarter. Some divisions aren’t doing so hot though — the Reality Labs unit that builds wearables and virtual reality devices reported an operating loss of $4.03 billion over the three-month quarter, and follows Meta’s Reality Labs employees being hit by two waves of layoffs since January.

Meta’s stock price has fallen by more than 7 percent at the time of writing, compared to before the company’s earnings release.

🚨 "Iran now wants to have nukes because of Israel and America."

Mehdi Hasan just DESTROYED the Israeli spokesperson on Piers Morgan Uncensored.

He flipped the entire narrative:

Israel is the only country in the Middle East with nuclear weapons

Israel bombed six countries last year

Yet the West acts like Iran is the existential threat?

"The problem is Israel, not Iran."

This is the most savage, fact-packed takedown of the double standard in years.

The logic is brutal and undeniable.

Judge rules Texas must permit 400-acre Muslim city to be built

The ruling opens the door for a 402-acre Muslim community that includes more than 1,000 homes, apartment buildings, a K–12 Islamic school, a mosque, health clinics, retail stores, and more.

A Texas judge has ordered a state agency to comply with a fair housing agreement it entered into with the developer of The Meadow, formerly known as Epic City— a planned Muslim community in North Texas that has been at the center of ongoing investigations and litigation, including from Governor Greg Abbott, state Attorney General Ken Paxton, and the Department of Justice.

ravis District Court Judge Amy Meachum's order on Tuesday mandates that the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) follow the terms of a settlement it reached with developer Community Capital Partners in September 2025, opening the door for a 402-acre Muslim community that includes more than 1,000 homes, apartment buildings, a K–12 Islamic school, a mosque, health clinics, retail stores, and more.

Earlier this year, Community Capital Partners filed a lawsuit against the TWC for the agency's failure to "acknowledge, evaluate, or advance the fair housing policies" that were approved as part of the settlement, per the Dallas Morning News.

The state of Texas has repeatedly accused the developer of violating its Fair Housing Act, citing that the planned community is for Muslims.

Imran Chaudhary, president of Community Capital Partners, rejected the state's notion in a statement, saying that it will implement the equitable housing policies that were agreed upon during settlement discussions. "This ruling confirms what we have maintained from the beginning— that Community Capital Partners has been willing, ready, and committed to following Texas law at every step," said Chaudhary, adding that, "We have done nothing wrong, and this decision reflects that."

The Texas Workforce Commission told the local paper that the court's "flawed" decision "overlooks substantial evidence," maintaining its position that developers are violating the Fair Housing Act. "This development remains under active investigation with our federal partners at the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. We are taking immediate steps to appeal this decision," the agency said.

The development is located near the town of Josephine, roughly 40 minutes from Dallas, Texas. In March, Gov. Abbott announced that the TWC launched an investigation into the East Plano Islamic Center (EPIC) and its affiliates for potential fair housing violations. Community Capital Partners was founded by EPIC members, who have shown their support for Sharia law. EPIC is one of the largest mosques in North Texas.
