This video of the A10 hits the target on the head. This plane has probably saved more lives of ground troops than al others combined. Troops do not want a stealth fighter flying at 800 mph at 30k feet with 2 seconds of 20mm cannons and precision bombs. They want the A10's 30mm cannons with 1200 rounds, loitering for 6 hours at a time, able to take punishment and put rounds where they need them, slow enough to hunt drones with semi guided rockets, that can also see and give orders to other air assets like Apaches and rescue choppers. We will always need some form of A10 even though it has no stealth capabilities. If we could get vertical take off, see through hulls with F35 like helmets, it would give us the ultimate ground, air, and carrier capabilities that would allows us to hold and take ground anywhere in the world.
