V-speed designator Description

V1 The speed beyond which takeoff should no longer be aborted (or "the point of no return") (see ยง V1 definitions below).[7][8][9]

If a pilot attempts to abort a takeoff ( say engine fire after V1) there will not be enough runway remaining to safely stop the aircraft on the runway. The only safe course of action is to go flying with an engine on fire.
