The term Eucharist refers to a central Christian sacrament, also known as Holy Communion, the Lord's Supper, or the Blessed Sacrament. It commemorates the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with his disciples, during which he instituted the rite by sharing bread and wine, identifying them as his body and blood. Christians believe Jesus commanded, "Do this in memory of me" (1 Corinthians 11:24–25).
