I think of her like VP Vance, she's not an early adopter of Trump doctrine, rather after considering the alternative and watching 4 years of Biden's deep state operations she became a supporter of an alternative. If you look at several of Trumps appointee's this time around they fall into this category. A risky move for sure if Trump is looking for blind loyalist, but he's had those before and they are sometime borne out to be of unsound character or complete idiots. (think Tucker, MTG, Candace, ect., ect…) In order for Trump to succeed he has to take on people who are smart in their field and capable of effectively communicating ideas to the public that gives them confidence the administration is truly looking for the best possible way forward in each appointee's area of expertise. Trump has been shifting on the fly to change coarse (Nome, Bondi, Kent, ect.); some of those were loyalist and some were snakes.

Earlier recommended video from David K Clements when pondered reinforces my thinking. He may go a bit too deep into the rabbit hole on some topics but well worth the consideration.
